Water in Fuel Light/Sensor... how critical is your reaction?
This video discusses the water in fuel sensor on the 2004-2006 Dadge/Freightliner/Mercedes Sprinter OM647 engine, how it works, and how much water it takes before the sensor is triggered.

Intake of Another Special T1N
Переглядів 6424 роки тому
In what will likely be the longest video ever uploaded to this channel, this is the next chapter in the life of a Special T1N. Watch the moment I first lay eyes upon this van, purchased sight-unseen out of Pennsylvania, as it emerges from within a semi-trailer. I will walk you through an abbreviated pre-purchase inspection, take you on a short test-drive, then show how to clear all the modules ...
Hella Sharp Tone M26S Installation and Comparison to the Stock Hella horn in a 2005 Sprinter.

After finding out about my horn setup, some viewers asked me to cover how to install them and how they sound. This video is a quick overview of the proper installation procedure and allows you to compare, side-by-side, the volume and tone difference between the stock T1N Hella horn and the 115 dB Hella Sharp Tone M26S horns. The horn in the 2004 Freightliner actually originated in the 2005 Dodg...
OM647 Glow Plug Replacement Made Easy
Переглядів 8 тис.4 роки тому
In this video, I demonstrate the easiest way to change your glow plugs on a T1N Sprinter. This procedure works the same for all diesel engines... the secrets are TIME, heat cycles, and penetrating oil, followed by the use of a calibrated torque wrench. If this procedure is followed properly, you will find yourself wondering why you didn't do it this way the entire time! This method eliminates t...
2002-2006 NAFTA Sprinter (OM612/OM647) Glow Plug Test Using A Homemade Fused Jumper
Переглядів 1 тис.4 роки тому
This video describes the easiest way to test individual glow plugs to determine if they are faulty. I only show a good one (number two) and a bad one (number one), but prior to filming I had already diagnosed this van as having faulty plugs number one, three, four, and five, as well as a faulty controller. The ECM produced codes for a time glow error, but nothing for the individual plugs. Once ...

    Don't listen to all these jackasses they won't to overcomplicate everything so they can seem more technical on their little UA-cam channels. All I did was took out the connectors sprayed in some WD-40 waited a few days and they came right out.

    You said the software you are using is Mercedes xentry? If dealers use DAD, then who uses that? The module checks you listed as it was scanning is very similar to what my autel MD808 shows when i scan my van. Yours probably has bi-directional communication features?

    What year is your sprinter? On tbe T1N.s the earlier models are different. What sprinter model do you recommend?

      Wow, a year later and I stumble across this comment. I never received a notification. I have numerous sprinters of varying years from 2002 through 2006. The filter in question in this video came out of a 2005 model. As for recommendation, I would say any 2004 through 2006 OM647 Sprinter would be the best choice. This allows for the positive pressure fuel system, eliminating the frustration of priming the fuel system after changing a fuel filter or figuring out why it suddenly will not start because an o-ring began allowing some air past it, the EGR design is much better and about half the price to replace, and the intake manifold is a much better design allowing for easier service of the engine's components.

    Great video, When cleaning the bores are you going all the way down to where the tip enters the engine or just cleaning the treads?

    • @specialt1ns697
      @specialt1ns697 3 роки тому

      That's a personal choice and situation-dependent. I changed someone's plugs a couple weeks ago that had obviously already been updated to the nickel-plated plugs and did not show any signs of corrosion or deposits needing cleaning. Generally, though, I clean the entire bores with either rifle cleaning kit CLP, Hoppe's No. 9, or even simpler, carburetor cleaner.

    • @specialt1ns697
      @specialt1ns697 3 роки тому

      @@mannyst1nvan I have done both ways, as said, and it is a personal preference. It is a lot easier to just clean the threaded area and part of the bore, and I have yet to lose a cleaning pad off the rod, but it can be difficult to pull back out. In the case where is gets stuck, you can always thread on the t-handle from the kit in order to pull it back out. I have also just used the brushes in the kits as well.

    • @specialt1ns697
      @specialt1ns697 3 роки тому

      Yes. Surprisingly, when the cold weather hit, the ignition switch began working perfectly again. Once it got too cold, however, the drop in voltage made it inoperable again. That will be coming up in a couple months, as I have a LOT of raw footage of different projects on my personal van that I am about to button up in the next week and begin sorting for upload.

    Sometimes nothing happens when you touch wire to battery= glow plug is broken too. But little sparking between battery and wire and still doesnt burn the fuse means glow plug is fine.

    I also hear the boost leak at 7:55 or so. Was it in LHM at that point? Or was it just leaking boost but not enough to be in LHM?

    • @specialt1ns697
      @specialt1ns697 4 роки тому

      No LHM yet at that point. I am actually leaning towards an exhaust leak, rather than boost leak at this time, as it took a while to trigger LHM and the codes pointed to the IAT sensor giving a faulty reading. It is entirely possible, however, that the IAL is what is leaking boost and causing the whistle as well. Only time will tell, as I won't be able to do anything else to this one for another couple weeks.
