HD Ford 300 build Part 4
Part 4... Cleaning up, de-burring and removing casting flash off the 300. Finally painting it with several coats of POR 15 rust prevent and engine enamel.
So, ...still not much "building" going on but that's coming once it warms up and dries out in here in the Midwest.
I'm still several months away from finish, and several assemblies too. In the future I will be focusing more on the tedious valve-train and rocker geometry for the 300 as well as pushrod length and some other common tasks. Thanks

Part 3... Trying to get a somewhat accurate measurement on cc/ml on the 240 head. Looks like the amount I polished out, with the milling off of the head it comes back to around stock, which is 68cc. I came out to around 68.5cc A little Ford purist ....obsessive~compulsive~decoration~disorder on the 300 timing cover at the end :-) Thanks

Part 2... Second part in the HD Ford 300 build. This video doesn't have much "build" in it but more of the mundane parts of building any engine. grinding, painting, pretty'ing up things with basic hand tools, and using the original hardware. Some of the segments seem out of order because of all the issues I have had with it. The engine has been sealed up for some time with some of the sheet met...
Ford 240 - 300 inline 6 distributor cleanup & paint

A quick, boring video of cleaning up a 240-300 distributor. Nothing special here! Just getting a few smaller things out of the way and ready for the HD 300 build once it gets back from re-decking at the machine shop.

Part 1... Partially tearing down an HD Ford 300 / 4.9ltr inline six from a 1966 F600. This engine came with a forged steel crankshaft and the heavy duty 2.5" exhaust manifold. HD 300 engine purchased near KC Missouri for $150 Also I am reworking the head for better torque and flow. The head is off a 240 / 3.9ltr with approx. 60K original miles that was removed from a 1966 F100 pickup truck. 240...

I feel extremely fortunate to own a 1990 industrial service 4.9 with timing gears and factory electronic fuel injection connected to a very stout F40 D transmission that has been drilled and serviced for more flow. Since 2004 I have not had not one problem with this motor. I feel confident that with regular maintenance this thing will last a million miles. It was bought at an auction by a old retired gentleman who died soon after RIP. I bought this e150 van from his daughter for $2000.00 dry clean. It was originally a Budweiser keg service van. It is now a camping and touring van for my wife and I. I love it! Your engine is gonna be great , I think you know that already.🙂

Just stumbled across this. I was actually searching for videos about the Jeep 4.0L. But YT was very insistent that I really meant a Ford 300. At any rate I found PT.1 enjoyable and am looking forward to the rest of the 'build'. Good stuff. ... subed.

The engine work, except turning thread chasers with a vice grip, is well done. The video was very difficult because of the destracting sound. I had to turn the sound off. IMHO - Fussing around with casting flash is a waste of time and effort. Put the effort where it counts like cylinder crosshatch and gasket surfaces.
