Peninsula 14 gallon kessil a80 tuna blue pt4
Took the skimmer out. It was restricting flow in the back and causing water level to rise in the display. With no break in the surface of the water at the overflow a film formed. I was also unable to keep filter floss in my caddy because of this. With the skimmer restricting flow and the filter floss in the caddy my water level in the 3 chamber would drop and add more fresh water. My tank and corals were suffering bc of this. The skimmer itself however did work like a charm. Not being able to use filter floss however caused larger debris to make itself into my back chambers. I believe the skimmer would work much better in a duel overflow IM AIO tank just not the single ones .

Lol first silly DIY kinda glass cleaner
Переглядів 11512 років тому
Had hair algae on glass that would form very stubborn brown spots. Was using razor blade to get it off because the magnet glass cleaner would not work. With the blade as careful as I was I still scratched the glass in one spot and did not want too keep doing that so I grabbed a milk carton cap and well it's in the vid works good too ;)

    Nice tank dude. I have a innovative marine 10gallon nano. With similar corals as you. But your corals look great! Just a few questions. What do you try and keep your water parameters at? And what light schedule do you run because I have a kessil a80 as well. I know it’s a lot but would really appreciate the feedback thanks!

  • @markytrampstar

    Try having this problem in a 3000ltr koi pond! Happened after winter deep clean. Thinks it’s due to algae bloom and ammonia rise. Completed a partial water change, agitated the pond with cloudy pond treatment which binds the particles and then no water flow so everything settles. Then another partial but vacuuming the sludge at the bottom.

    This started in my 35 gal tank with 2 gold fish and 4 neons. The goldfish died and the neons survived. I put fresh water shrimp in the tank to replace the gold fish and the shrimp totally eliminated all that white slime in 2 weeks. They are now feeding off the alge in the tank. I think what caused it was to much nutrients in the water from over feeding and or using the same buckets to do water changes that I use to change my hydroponic nutrients. In any case it is history now. Shrimp will be eaten by most fish so be careful.

  • @garylion1123
    @garylion1123 7 років тому

    They call it a bacteria bloom caused when you have your tank near air fresheners or when they are sprayed it falls on ur tank its starts creating that slime over time it will slowly start affecting all ur inhabitants.

  • @Gmoneynthehouse
    @Gmoneynthehouse 7 років тому

    I've been getting it also. I've read if you don't clean your ATO container it can produce this slime. I've used Dr. Tims waste away with good success. So clean your ATO containers regularly before each fill up of fresh water. If you don't have an ATO then maybe something cause a bacterial spike. Dead snail cause it for me before. Happy cleaning.

  • @BootlegHuman

    i heard its caused by peroxides mainly found in bleach and chlorine, main cause is adding a new ornament that hasnt been washed in tapsafe water prior

    Did any of you ever beat this stuff and how if so? It's a bacteria that is feeding off something that has got in the tank like air freshener or carpet cleaner from what I have found

    • @mwcdx
      @mwcdx 6 років тому

      The carpet cleaner and air freshener is all crap. The reason for this is to much nutrients in the water from over feeding. I put live freshwater shrimp in the tank after loosing 2 gold fish and the problem was totally gone in 2 weeks.

    • @gd6585
      @gd6585 5 років тому

      No2TheNWO I know this is a year old comment, but too many nutrients causes this white fuzz? That’s what’s crap. My tank has 0 ammonia and nitrates and .1 phosphates. This stuff is all over my tank and no matter how many times I’ve tried, it keeps coming back.

    I have this problem and I can never solve it..I only know that the white slime has a cycle that appears and disappears, it is fatal to the filtering system.I had to figure how me to be able to live with this problem. Nobody gives me a clear and convincing answer. if you could solve the problem please help me..thanks

    www.coralmagazine-us.com/content/mystery-white-reef-slime-part-iii some are using 3% hydrogen peroxide. Look for the bottle with 3%, not 35%. 1ml per 10 gallons a day til gone.

    Same thing here... It happend straight after I bleached my rocks.... I have carbon running, GFO, powerfull protein skimmer, carbon dosing, quality light, nothing works... I think it's just a waiting game.... Is that a new tanks, or with new live rocks ? That's growing EVERYWHERE... I'm trying a 10ml peroxyde/20g once.... My corals don't seems happy... REALLY NOT !

    It's really difficult to tell what that is, on that small rock. I had cyano myself and beat it. I reduced my feeding, siphoned those areas of the sand bed and dosed NoPox. That is a great product. Good luck and look forward to more videos.

    only to change the bulbs other than that i keep it on i would suggest putting a small piece of clear tape across the led night lights to protect them my first fixture moisture can still get in the fixture not allot but enough to short out the leds in the fixture.

    do you remove the splash guard

  • @darkrizin
    @darkrizin 11 років тому

    yes i still enjoy the fixture the only problem i have had is compared to led fixtures is that it seems like time goes by so fast and you have to change the bulbs again. for me the bulbs i put in my fixture have now gone up to almost 100$ for replacing the 4 bulbs. ati bulbs are not cheap but the fixture has done me well and i would recommend it.
