Returning after a break to bring Let's Plays and playthroughs of my favourite games including:
Hearts of Iron IV by Paradox Studios, playing Majors / Minors in various warzones using Mods and DLCs. In my words... so expect a lot of moaning, winning, failing, misclicks and mayhem... as I try to entertain and/or tell a story through the medium of gaming on this wonderful distraction for megalomaniacs or authors without an audience!
Stellaris also by Paradox Studios playing against the AI and rage quiting after bad decisions were made! lol
No Man's Sky by Hello Games... the wonderful, exploration of space... on foot haha (well to start with!)

A 'Little' Scrap | No Man's Sky EP 94
I know this was 3 months ago. I see you ran into the teleport to freighter bug I've seen in my own game. Sometimes I was able to fix it for awhile by teleporting back to one of my bases or a space station, fly out, into the anomaly then teleport from there to my freighter. For some reason when I teleport to my freighter from the anomaly, it loads correctly instead of boxing me inside my freighter.
Good to know, thanks. I suppose its a rare glitch like falling through the planet surface when you first go into the game, which happened to me recently.
Did you ever figure this out? I read somewhere that the atlas path is suppose to take you to another galaxy but I've presented wonders at least 15 times and nothing..... seen a video 16 days old that after he birth a new star it never told him to present wonders. At this point I'm giving up on it too lol
No but I have thought about it. I have a theory that the choices I made dictated this choice and to get to another galaxy I think I'd have to journey to the centre of the galaxy again. Is that what you have done... or played a different save to present 15 times? I Could be completely wrong though 🤷♂
@wy_at_war well before I stopped I literally checked my wonders in catalog and chose what I knew discovered. Would I have to do that another 10 times I don't know. I feel there's a sequence to it somehow. All I know is I gave up and continued on my other missions lol
I felt that, those robot dogs are the worst, I'd rather face two walkers than one of those. (Which of course is a different way of saying that robot dogs are awesome ;-) ) Kudos for picking the sentinel fights at environmental effect-free ruin sites, by the way, wish I had thought of that myself. Seriously, in three of the four, a storm started almost immediately after the first shot was fired. They would make a prime spot to build a base too, come to think of it.... nice flat terrain, too. (By the second way: should you, after finishing the finishable stuff, not want to switch to your main save until the community goals are reached, I put down a base on Ayu in the Rendezvous point 3 system, whatever it's called. I named it "Lighthouse", and endeavoured to make it mildly interesting for other players to visit. Currently my jive is just visiting bases, and I noticed that quite a few people have made theirs extra fancy this time. Which is amusing)
Yeah those doggos I just hope General Dynamics is not having development ideas 😄 I hadnt considered the level playing field but come to think of it I'll take that as a bonus and hope to gat back to the expediation later. Sorry folks unable to do my part for last few days. Is that a good time to get the snowblind mission done then :) yeah rng does play havoc to plans which makes everyones journey different and replayable I think. Ah right yeah will have a look off camera at the Ayu bases I'm bound to playing this weekend after phases complete to help and await the community milestones completion. And still loads more weeks to go folks! 😃
I am almost ready to finish Liquidators, but... there's those community milestones too, and I have no idea if those would be redeemable for players who finish the expedition before those are done, so thinking about holding off on that for a bit. Maybe I'll just "do my part" and squash some more bugs and grubs to help nudge that counter to whatever number is needed. The expedition feels nicely written though, with every milestone feeling in some way relevant to the story. But of course the most important reason for being of it is the showcasing of new 5.0 stuff. Really impressed with that, I got sidetracked several times just being amazed about how nice things look now :-) The apex predator thing is a bit of a mystery to me though. I visited one planet named something like "apex predator here", scanned them all, no luck. Then visited a player base with a name suggesting one there, because I am shallow like that, but, bupkis again. Eventually I found a paradise planet and landed near a nice looking beach just because... and poof, got the milestone, even though there were only placid animals in the list. Still built a base there, but I fear that if another player visits it, they will find it a dud.
Good hunting with the grubs I feel they are a nice addition to the game, if only we could tackle some of the npcs in the same way. I maybe wrong but think the kills only count on infestation planets for the expedition. Makes sense to get the community to do its part.. and they will love it I bet on a bug hunt. Yeah same here with visuals I might go no music and see if there's atmospheric sounds with storms etc matching the environment for better immersion. I did manage to find the apex on that planet in the first system spoilers im looking for two more on another to get the nanites. They are illusive though. I'm going to try and avoid the other players markers unless I get so stuck I can't complete a task. But yeah well done on your progress and for doing your part!😀
You are the point in the game where I got a bit befuddled, too- although the "presemt discoveries" thing might actually be a recent addition, something that might make occasional visits to Atlas stations worthwhile after the "main storyline" is complete. And maybe it actually isn't, but I have no idea what could/should come next.
Ah okay, I will probably get distracted then and return to the task further down the line😀
Just finished watching part 1 and 2, wanted to finish the expedition before that. It's a fun one. Not my favourite, but still fun, I do like the survival part of the game. Not sure how keen I am on the storytelling, but solitude as a theme absolutely does work for NMS (agree with you on the spamballs being more immersion-breaking than usual this time, by the way). Some interesting medative moments in this expedition, too. Also, some filler-objective, like in just about every expedition. And really nice rewards! Sure, we do not play expeditions for the rewards, but, nonetheless... ;-)
It's having it's moments for sure lol. Glad you liked it... and thank you for confirming I'm not alone in thinking the comms stations are spam and in this instance do detract from that solo experience in the expedition... im not at the end yet though, real life gets in the way haha... but I'm liking the image playstation shows of the reward ship.
Suwalki Gap Boogaloo ;-)
Hope so, well in the game anyway
Nice work turning down Yalta, War with the Soviets to look forward to in 1943 :)
Thank you. It's a rarity for me, I forget to be honest but yeah I'm looking forward to a showdown too
Nice to see the living frigate starting to bring home the dough :-) The sentient starship stuff is not useful... yet. But odds are it will be in the furture, and when it does you want as many embryonic eggs and spawning sacs as possible! (To get a sentient starship you will need to buy an egg from the quicksilver merchant in the Anomaly. Takes a lot of quicksilver, and a whole quest after that. But it's a fun thing to do) Oh, and, those Nexus missions: they are fun to do multiplayer, but all of them can be solo'ed as well. Personallly I find the bone diggiing one a bit tedious (especially if those target markers fail to show up), but if that's the weekend mission then I'll still do it. And when the reward is salvaged frigate modules I will do any mission, I love that HG added those to the possible rewards!
Thank you for an amazing insightful response, all my in game questions answered for the new encounters. I am amazed at how much content keeps on being revealed with no DLC price tag well done Hello Games. I see theres quite a bit more to follow up and investigate particularly with the sentient stuff. I will try and keep eyes peeled on the lookout... but expect a few mistakes to happen lol Just a human controlling an avatar in a strange world... great reply thank you once again.👍
You appear to have had the same issue with at least that one freighter assault mission that I have with many of them, where the target icon just disappears, and you only get vague direction indication when you go the wrong way. The target is there though, and if you manage to fly in that direction, your pulse drive will lock on to it. Also, warping seems to help too. I have asked around on forums and something a bug report about this, but the general assumption appeared to be that it must probably an issue on my side, and maybe bashing the "H" key (to toggle the hud) might work. I have had no luck with that though. Maybe I'll send them a link with that part of this video! But I am happy that I am no longer alone in my plight ;-p
🙂 Well hunting prey is never easy... thanks for the feedback there though, it may not be a bug it might be a feature Hello Games have to keep you on your toes and less on the gas pedal as space is big and easy to get lost... me many times... spatial awareness is also maybe more necessary but the element of pulse driving to find the target again seems to work? but is that all the time? If so then then the notes should stay on screen and not disappear to tell you about exosuit upgrades or pursue the atlas in a different system etc. My noob frustrations aside I still enjoyed it, well done to Hello Games
Nice work on that dreadnought! You got much further than I did on my first through sixth or so attempt- I think I only won once or twice, I can never find those trenches! Yesterday I did a Nexus mission with another player, who turned out to have a pirate dreadnought for a freighter. Wasn't able to ask how he managed that, but apparently it is possible, somehow.
Well okay then, that sounds achievable I must visit pirate systems more often haha
Nice, you have the dream aerial! Do be sure to use it, it's a fun bit of content! And I finally know where it comes from, now. Apparently I click through the debriefs too fast. Found the thing in my inventory at some point, stored it away, forgot about it, did soms different game content at some point, was confused after that, but would not have been if I had used that stupid aerial earlier. Hope I have been vague and mysterious enough ;-) Oh, by the way, I think (but note that I have been wrong a lot about NMS lately) that the best place to get combat frigates is in Vy'keen systems. Either that, or, should you at some point be given a lengthy questionnaire, because, well, anything can happen in space, try answering as though you were a gung ho space pirate or something)
Yeah if flick through notifications too much. A lot of reading in NMS. Not as much as Stellaris but i have a text to speech on that. Well glad that the dream aerial apperance came in handy lol... (he says completely oblivious to the signifance!) That episode didnt go as planned but thanks for the info about Vykeen systems... survey? seriously 🤣 Will investigate your items of interest and try to get back on track in the next episode when controller doesnt mess with keyboard.🙃
Kind of good to see that I am not the only one who sometimes gets lost in their own settlement ;-) For the freighter: I love the teleportal room, but the scanner room is also really nice if you use the freighter for exploration. I like putting it just behind the green stairway, and surrounded by fleet command stations. But the matter beam module might be the best one of the lot since it gives you access to the freighter inventory from anywhere. The exocraft room is great too, but only works if the freighter is in your current system. Also, on your freighter, when you craft, you can draw on materials straight from your storage modules, which turns it into the best base you can have. Be careful to not logout when standing next to a storage module though, because apparently there is a chance of you glitching through the floor and getting stuck in a "crawlspace", which is Not Fun. Took three or four times of that happening for me to finally learn my lesson. Oh, and, you can have a fleet of up to 30 frigates accompanying your freighter. They do level up, so recruiting C-tier ones is perfectly ok. Note that frigates can get damaged- as you may already have noticed by now, with that two-star combat mission that you sent a one-star fleet on ;-) It's no biggy, though, repairing frigates is a fun little mini mission But if you want to avoid having to do it too often, best practice is to make sure that your fleet level is two pips above the mission level (which may not be possible initially, but if you ever get bored with repairing, that would be your ticket out of that) Last bit, about the freighter and the frigates in combat: the freighter, unfortunately, is just a floating base. But, if you have combat frigate(s) in your system and you engage in combat with your space ship, your strongest combat frigate will come to your aid. That is the extend of it though.
Wow! What a great comprehensive reply. That's a mine of information, I will definitely look into extending the scope of the rooms with that knowledge. I can't beleive there's not more on the freighter base build as part of a tutorial... but i suppose HG think that by the time you are dealing with freighters its all there in your timespan. I am loving the log entries the expeditions come back with... i'd love to interact with those. Right so combat is not what I think... damn! Thought I would be assisting the freighter on it's expeditions. Still more to learn I suppose though... everyday rotation is a school rotation :) Many thanks again I will be applying knowledge... and yeah for me I'd love a map on the settlement screen that says "Idiot you are here!" haha
@@wy_at_war Heh, yeah, maps would awesome ;-) I do kind of understand the reasoning of HG to not do attacks on PC freighters. Maybe they thought about what multiple damaged frigates would mean for gameplay, what a damaged freighter would mean, how much fun scrambling upon entering a freighter would be, and how much of an effort it would be to make it fun. I could think of some solutions, maybe even just adding an equivalent of the settlement terminal to freighter modules with a "trade score" or whatever that could go down if you let NPC raiders go unchecked. Maybe even let terminals replace stellar extractors (which look nice, but are buggy, and would, imo, not even be very useful if they weren't) I think their train of thought led them to two alternatives that are actually in the game though. Not going to spoil too much about them, but (I don't recall if you found one of those yet) there are derelict freighters in space, and there are pirate dreadnoughts. I like both of those. Had to take to the forums for tactics for the dreadnought though, I found that a tough encounter! But, in short, there still is some interesting freighter-style content available! That said, the logs are essentially just fluff. Which is yet another huge missed opportunity, because there could be so many interesting mission hooks there! (There is one small mission hook to be found on board of your exploration frigates, by the way)
@@arjenlaan4103Hopefully Hello Games see a lot of potential in the freighters. I remember seeing a trailer with an attack on a freighter, maybe the dreadnought you mentioned, havent come across that yet but yes I have been on a derelict freighter... which I thought was gonna be more horror than fps. Still it was different. In my ps5 game I have just purchased a capital that came with three stations already built... weapons terminal, some extraction unit (I think) and a fleet command station... I was then suprised it had an escort - a combat frigate which I transported over to and did a little exploration of stations on there, I presume they are the ones which need repairing in future - anywhoo I sent it on a combat mission so will see. Need to find one of these for my PC save. And thanks again for the wealth of information! 👍
I have the impression that those corrupted drones have become slightly tougher with the Omega update, even in the settlement thingie they required a bit more... persuation than I thought I was used to- good call on switching to the regular ones, the doggies are annoying but at least those repair drones are nice and squishy. By the way, this expedition, fun though it was... did feel like a weird list of things to check off, didn't it, I mean, Photo's? Liquid explosives? Cookies? No narrative, just things to do in between Atlas visits, I guess. I get that HG wanted to showcase some elements of NMS to a new audience, but also hope that for the next one they will pick a story or a theme, and for each of the milestones ask themselves how they fit into that. Still, love the update. Love being able to start expeditions from the main save too! Even though being able to bring some items over to the expedition might be just a bit too convenient, not sure yet- glad I only did it that way on the second playthrough (was fun to be able to skip much of the grind that time)
Good summary there of the various points about Omega. Yeah like yourself I thought the Leto storyline disappeared. I fully understand the scope of allowing a new fan base to join with free play over two weekends but feel that Leto's memory lapse should have led to a conclusion that they were of some Traveller notoriety/ some legend. Here's hoping that Leto's storyline can be accessed via the exepidition in the future. Yeah those sentinels haha... I think the 1st ps5 Omega expedition I did was easier than pc but I did a second and that was tougher terrain in places so made it more of a challenge. I'm not sure I like the access to personal resources prior to an expedition I'd rather access a general store to venture. But here's to the next one :)
Heh, yeah, that base computer quest line goes oooon and ooooon and ooooooooon. And on. I put it at the bottom of my prio list, just went to a destination if I wanted a random planet somewhere to explore. But I don't think it gave a lot of useful stuff anymore anyway, after some point, so, myeah. (Fun things to do if you want to keep the game fresh, by the way, might be to get a salvage scanner at the scrap dealer, or just ask Helios for one if you have the conversation option. And if you get the blueprint, do make sure to build and use a dream aerial. Not telling what will happen, but I promise it's fun! Aaaand, of course, if you manage to acquire 3000 Quicksilver, do buy an egg from the quicksilver merchant in the Anomaly, and just keep it in your inventory!)
Cheers thanks for the confirmation, I thought I was going mad with the base computer. Had to look it up just to make sure. Thanks for the other info, will look out for the aerial sounds a blast.
Was spot-on ;-) Was kind of invested in your farmer quests, by the way: in my save he keeps asking me for mordite and cannot seem to move past that even though I have biodomes full of mordite root by now and have given him enough of the necrotic goop that he could swim in it if he wanted- and maybe he does, no value judgement from me about that, let Gek be Gek, by all means. But it was fun to see how his quest line is supposed to conclude! (Also, wasn't it possible to refine chlorine into salt? Can't remember for sure, but I think it was- that, or the other way around. Not that it really matters in this case, of course)
Really? A Farmer glitch, NPCs not playing by the rules, maybe it's Ryan Reynolds. I hope you get it sorted, not having a mission end is annoying because of a game mechanic. I'll check out the chlorine and salt refining, cheers.
Activated Indium/Cadmium/Emeril is annoying stuff, isn't it, it cannot be converted to the normal type, there is no recipe that requires any of it, all that it's good for is turning it into chromatic metal. The one thing that I would really love to see in an NMS update would be to get some uses for already existing materials (also, notably, basalt).
Yeah I agree, there's an idea for Hello Games🙂
Taiwan still #1
It's a fun expedition! Pretty replayable too, probably, since so much depends on your starting location. If there is water and a structure with an actual building nearby, I imagine it would be really easy. This might be a harder run. Good for content though ;-)
Just one thing for the final part (that I could have done better) , contrary to what the game suggests, you can get both the Atlantid and the Crimson reward, just do the Atlandid ending first, finish the last phase, then reload, and do the Stellar one. Both rewards, apparently, can be redeemed.
Ah say what? Damn, I wish I had known that! 🤨 Thanks for letting me know, didn't even think to question it... rules, what rules? 🤣
I actually did have the exact same issue with the Atlas that you had, including not being able to land. Was a good point for me to quit for the day and try again the day after. Had no issues then. No idea what might have caused it.
Hmm interesting, could be the amount of players in a given space is too much for the program to handle. I'm glad it's not just me but I'm glad you found a solution. I find in NMS everyday is a schoolday 😀
Haha, I had exactly the same struggle with my multitool there! And then I got at the 2nd (I think it was the 2nd) rendezvous point and it had an A-tier one. Made it worth hunting quads for hearts and resonators for mirrors all over again, but, daaaaaamn. (Also: sooooo. many. spam. balls. I did not mind them as much in Utopia, but in Singularity it has gotten silly)
That's good you got a pretty return then on the Multitool. So easy to get distracted by all the things you can do in No Man's Sky... I'm a sucker everytime for Hey Look at that! lol Yeah comms stations everywhere thought it was an invasion of Terrahawks lol but I love the community spirit.
Nice pace! Jason Plays did the whole thing in 90 minutes, I needed 13 hours (Got sidetracked a lot. Lots of fiddling with my bases too, I thought I ought to make them look pretty and complete to keep to the spirit of the whole thing. Was not very effective. Fun though!). I also got the prompt about that derelict freighter, did not do that one either, I wonder how many people did though. For the volcano, I just raced to the caldera with the nomad, that worked really well. But your way was much more fun for in a video, I was hoping for that ;-)
Thank you, not too shabby I think as I'm still learning. Really? I follow JasonPlays I enjoy the fugitive runs, I could never do 90 mins 😄I think I saw someone doing the derelict freighter on episode 3. Didnt even think of the Nomad for the volcano, close call but made me chuckle after lol
2:55 Yeah but at least once setup it actually works and doesn't go dead in a year after a random cumulative update and the OS isn't spyware
12:29 And here wy_at_war meets a fan directly in game
About that activated indium (same goes for activated cadmium and activated emeril) : it's not good for much as far as I know, but it can all be refined to chromatic metal (at a 1:1 ratio, even!). So I like to just chuck it in the oven. And with a settlement producing it, that means you will probably never want for that stuff ever again. Which makes me jealous. Mine gives me fungal mould. Booh.
Oh right, I'm always getting stuck for chromatic metal lol. Nice to know that cheers!
Don't complain it's leagues better than waking up on your car... in the air...
Ah the voice of experience lol is that a Sunday morning routine? 🤣 ... a self-driving car feature many will enjoy in the future 😉
Отлишно
Это видео мне подняло настроение))0)
5:37 "Cheeeeeers" >moonwalks out
22:08 Look even the game knows you really shouldn't get the clam, it's time to reconsider
For me, I guess pearl diving is not an occupation choice 😅
Want to know what happened when we traversed the Black Hole at 52:15 ? Join me in another part of No Man's Sky here: ua-cam.com/video/s8Nd6STruT0/v-deo.html this main game will continue after the Community expidition shortly.
36:17 Yeah... ever so slightly.. nothing that can't be handled amiright
31:06 Ok at least you apologized
7:41 You might mean the doomsday rods, dropped from space to cause earthquakes and all that
You know that ambient music on Iviuqu was bliss, actually nice work on the devs on that one, although I doubt you noticed given all the dodging sentinels and all
I've heard them called "Rods from God" though they are nothing to do with anyone called Rod.
@@theNapalmSoul 😂 There was music? Yeah I like some of the incidental music in the game. It adds atmosphere when I cant breathe it haha.
1:50 Yes he is indeed high, high above ground and on a space station, thee perceptive abilities are simply humbling
11:22 NMS so realistic they coded in houseghold chores 🙄
@@theNapalmSoul You would think there would be an app or robot for that😄
40:52 OOOooooooo gotta grab my foil hat for this one
23:49 - We are going to land into Hudson
Even Tully would have a problem there🙂
Anybody see the V-powered animal at 01:45 ... animal glitches🙄 lol
I knewm something was getting up that rock, it's NMS after all so my mind filtered it out 😂
~27:12 Well, the terrain itself did not return to its original state before you terraformed, which is a good sign, this might be just about as much of base sinking issues you will get, unless you play long enough that the game will no longer remember you terraformed 🙃
Not a problem really I will just get an indoor lawn mover... damn need to patent that!
Team up? My game tag is Lukeingame
oh right I haven't thought about NMS team ups tbh.
@@wy_at_war yeah possibly to take on a dreadnought..
@@Luke1ngame maybe in the future I'm not sure yet
38:31 Well.. it's on earch alright, in fact, that pilot was so determined to be on earth he did not care for anything in their way
I haven't got a drive thru or fly thru... that reminds me, where are my No Parking signs! So much for collision detection 🙃
If you're going to use this base for a long time, beware, the terrain can regenerate and your base if built straight on your leveled or deep ground - will go uinderground and you will have to terraform again
Oh no... but that explains something cheers 🤔
you have a gr8 youtube voice!
Awesome Video bro, keep it up and your videos will get even better and you might get a lot of views someday
8:09 I like to think it's actually pudding and it provides emotional support instead
Inside your exosuit is pudding? 🤣
@@wy_at_war The life support gel 😂
@@theNapalmSoul Brilliant 🤣
Pretty sure those gaps/slots in ship (and your exosuit for that matter) are unlockable/expandable, just need to find the right tech
I think i was carrying around one in my exosuit at the time... :) The B-Class gained the upgrades, I hadn't realised expansion slots for starships were available like that.
41:49 From my Elite Dangerous plays, and well since pretty much every ship has a shield, packing a weapon specced against shields and a kinetic weapon is probably the way to go while you got your starter ship, if you take an enemy's shield down there must be some time needed until it starts recharging or something, then you can strike with rockets etc. although there's only one way to find out
Nevermind not even a minute later you got the same idea 😄
@@theNapalmSoul Yeah my brain is often on work it out aloud. I follow a similar tactic in Stellaris with Kinetics against shields so shouldn't be any wonder that the same theory goes on in this game. Tips and tricks always worth a mention, cheers 👍😀
26:06 When you come accross these manufacturing plants, look around for clues to what they worked on there, that little dialogue is like a security challenge
Cheers @Napalmic, will do. I normally get the gist but in this case not so much 🙃
@@wy_at_war Yeah from my playthrough I didn't get the gist until I met my 3rd facility like that 😄 so not throwing any shade here
@@theNapalmSoul 😀they are tricky but what disturbed me was the decor, not so much the alarm 😅
@@wy_at_war Ah yes the strange fleshy goo covering the building and seemingly abandoned drop pods nearby, looks like emergency tourism gone wrong
Jeez the new HOI4 expansion sure changed the looks
