LISBON Portugal Walking Tour
Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, is a vibrant city known for its rich history, diverse culture, and stunning architecture. Situated on the banks of the Tagus River, it offers a unique blend of old-world charm and modern dynamism. Here's a brief introduction to this fascinating city:
History and Culture
Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in Europe, with roots tracing back to the Phoenicians. Its strategic location made it a key port during the Age of Exploration in the 15th and 16th centuries. Today, the city's culture reflects its maritime heritage and diverse influences from around the globe.
Landmarks and Attractions
Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery: UNESCO World Heritage Sites that showcase Lisbon's historical grandeur.
São Jorge Castle: A medieval fortress offering panoramic views of the city.
Alfama District: The oldest part of Lisbon, with narrow streets, Fado music, and traditional architecture.
Lisbon Oceanarium: One of the largest aquariums in Europe.
LX Factory: A creative hub with art, shops, and dining.
Architecture
Lisbon is famous for its azulejos (colorful ceramic tiles) and the Manueline style, a blend of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Walking through the city, you'll see historic trams navigating steep hills and pastel-colored buildings lining cobblestone streets.
Food and Drink
Lisbon's cuisine is a highlight, with fresh seafood playing a central role. Don't miss bacalhau (salted cod), sardinhas assadas (grilled sardines), and pastéis de nata (custard tarts). Pair your meals with Portuguese wine or ginjinha, a cherry liqueur.
Climate
Lisbon enjoys a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm summers. January is one of the coolest months but remains pleasant for exploring, with average temperatures around 11-15°C.
Transportation
The city is well-connected with an efficient public transport system, including trams, buses, and the metro. Walking is also a great way to discover Lisbon's charm, though be prepared for its hilly terrain.

A house of idol worship. Gentiles are obligated to fulfill the Seven Noahide Commandments because they are the eternal command of God, transmitted through Moses our teacher in the Torah.

@@marcorussotravelphotography I spent two months in Palermo and I used to swim in the morning in Mondelo beach and in the morning it was very good beach. In the afternoon it is different beach and it is not clean.Thousands of people are on the beach with only one toilet. Two third of the beach are for sunbeds although nobody want to use them.My friends from Palermo swim at Adaura beach ,not at Mondelo. At the time I was there beach Vergine Maria was closed by authorities due to pollution, also beach in Sferacavalo, people from Palermo don't go to Capo Gallo rocky beach because they have to pay entrance to private company.Issola de Femine was for me to complicated to visit as bus goes there every few hours.Mondelo is in September World Class beach,I saw it.Palermo is beautiful and remained in my heart. It could be European Rio de Janeiro, but somehow it remains unknown.I think citizens of Palermo want to live their own life and I respect it . Only a few things can be done and Palermo would be a world famous city, but I agree that there would be more tourists, more money and it would not be the same city.
@@marcorussotravelphotography well obviously we have different opinions. Even if Issola de Femine is in Palermo ( google says it is a separate city) it is the second beach. Two others were closed as I said due to pollution .I paid one euro for Capo Gallo but Palermians don't want as they pay for a private company for National park and they don't even get a ticket. Mondelo is an organised beach and one toilet is really not enough for a few thousand people,so the beach is not clean. I made many promotion videos about Palermo, but I can only say what I saw there.I stayed in Palermo during the fire ,many tourists left the city .But as I said we have different opinions and I feel no help with it,but I am glad you saw the video and gave your opinion.Best regards.
@@edojanic2942 ci sei stato nel momento peggiore cioè gli incendi
@@marcorussotravelphotography well it wasn't pleasant experience to see Palermo surrounded by fire and feel hot air with strong wind in the night with helicopters flying. But we decided to stay and after a few days we were happy it was ok again.

@@nickpapadoulakis9046 thank you very much. I was very happy to be there in time when the orchestra of amazing Crete Music came from all over the world in Chania. Great experience.
@@edojanic2942 you’re very welcome and I am happy that you liked my Greek island. I hope to come and visit soon.
The city look nice and quiet. I am going to Sitia for two weeks in August. I think perhaps there are more turist now. I am flying with a turist company direct to the airport near the city. so the turist industri is perhaps groving. With all the restaurants there must be some people, other vise they could not survive. I have read some recommendations and they are all good. But I guess it is mostly older people who dont like the noisy bars and discos. And some said it was more affordable then the big turist places like Chania Rethymnon Hersonissos.
@@HenrikWind I visited Sitia in time of Covid,so I think now will be more tourists, but for sure no so much as in Chania, Herssonisos..It is quite an isolated city, like the other world. I came there by bus over high mountains. There is a whole area around Sitia with Paleokastro, Vai beach,Zakros..but at the time I was there public transport was so rare that for Zakros used to go two times a week. So probably rent a car is a good option.Area around Sitia is also under protection of UNESCO due its specific geological structure. But my impression was that somehow time stopped in Sitia and that life there could be much more vibrant and rich. But maybe it is the choice of its citizens. I wish you a nice time in Sitia. I'd like to come again and explore more.
@@edojanic2942 In 2021 it was covid time and much of the turist industry was suffering, it was not the mormal. I always use the travel agencies, it is easy. Direct flight, hotel and transfer. And it was the first time i saw Sitia as a destination. So I booked my 2 weeks vacation there. So perhaps there will be more life there now. But I hope it is still a quiet place. I have looked on Google street view and as you said. There is nothing up in the town. Every thing is located at the harbor. If I remember I will give you an update of Citia when I am home
