Be careful not to be too judgmental. Give your ADC a few fair attempts at playing alongside you. If you reach a point that you're confident (using logic, not anger) that the ADC isn't going to be of any help to you, find someone who can be. Don't sacrifice an entire lane of income to do it, but try and create bounce opportunities that let you go mid or with your jungler (and even top). This game is about how you perform over thousands of matches, not one. Try not to get too focused on the individual behaviors you encounter and use a strategy that works over the long run. You are guaranteed terrible ADC players in a large % of your games for the rest of your League career. You signed up for that. That's part of the game. You must adapt and work around it.

Movement speed is maokai's strongest stat. Typically deadmans is the best item you can buy except for niche situations where they have tons of ap.

I usually try to visualize how fights play out and orient my builds around that. Graves + Garen will always be easy to get on because they intentionally stay close range. Kai'sa will be easy if she dives with R but should be pretty difficult for me to lock otherwise because of Milio. If I do get on her, I'll need to last for my 2nd rotation. Xerath I either hit with my R or never touch tbh So here, swifties won't change how the fights can play out... but tabis will help me last in them.

Demonic is a great item and it works a lot better in lower ranks where I highly advise investing a bit more into damage YOU can output... however, E max? No. Take a look at the numbers on his E on the League Wiki. Riot has intentionally made his E dependent on scalars & struggle with base. It's much better to apply item effects off his E than to try and make the E itself more dangerous (Demonic, Mandate, Etc)

Check my opgg, "sky go brr", I do refill+early ctrl ward super often. It's all about breakpoints & what's most valuable in the moment. Like... if I'm Milio and recall with exactly 800g, I'll likely just buy a kindlegem. If I'm Maokai against an all in supp, I'm more likely to rush early durability over refill.

Unfortunately at the time I was not only "rank 1" but also rank 2 on another account. It of course means nothing, it comes from stat sites (meaningless) & nobody at my rank or higher plays Morgana except for me. She's worthless.

Hold Alt then use the abilities designated hotkey. For example on Morgana it would be Alt+E. It can also be quite helpful to do what's called portrait clicking when you want to make sure your E goes on a specific ally and nobody else. This is especially good on Lulu since your E can affect allies, enemies, and monsters. This is when you hover your mouse on an ally's portrait and click the ability. Ctrl + (ability hotkey) also levels the ability so you don't have to use your mouse to click the level up button.

The alternative, hook or engage supports, do not need to do any of these complicated fundamentals, as they're a mages' #1 counter. 1) If the mage and their ADC play so safely that you can never engage on them, then you are guaranteed to outperform them by leaving the lane and working with your jungler to secure herald, ganks mid, and invades which the mage cannot respond to. Even if they do, a mage will never be as useful in an even skirmish as an engage/hook support. If they are constantly freezing the lane, you are tanky enough to take some hits while you and your ADC bounce the wave to break that freeze. If you do not know what bouncing is, I have a wave management video. 2) If the mage isn't playing safely, which is often the case, they're a money printer because of how easy they are to kill. Just be patient early levels (unless you are Naut/Rell) so you can get your engage abilities, then don't be afraid to go hard on them so long as you are healthy. If they do manage to get you low HP before you can engage, remember that even if they're ahead, a reset puts you back in the advantageous spot. Personally, I like to bait one ability right before I engage... for examples: Zyra E, Brand W, Xerath Q, Zilean Q, Morg Q, etc. If they use that and are in an unsafe position, I'm pinging that I'm going in and I'll even flash to start the engage if I have to. They're so squishy that they can usually be killed before they react, especially if your'e Amumu/Naut/Taric/Thresh/Rell/etc. The only champ who has to play a little uniquely would be Braum, who has to do a mixture of the 2 playstyles, but I don't encourage ever playing Braum as he is just very weak in solo queue.
