This is a pretty interesting rom hack, the sudden tone shift doesn't surprise me but it does immediately throw you into the action with the first room already implying E Gadd died. The different designs for the custom made ghosts are pretty well made, I like how creepier they tried to make it. Good video.

I like that the ghosts look more creepy. Luigi’s mansion 1 had a perfect balance between spooky and creepy but I wished they went more into the scary for Luigi’s mansion 2

In the first portrait ghost room, you made two blunders, one of which is understandable. First, there's a Speedy Spirit in the chair with the cheese under it (yes, two secret treasure ghosts in one room, it's really something), I can forgive you for missing that; but more importantly, if you vacuum up the books that fly at you, they don't respawn, leaving you free to do as you will in the room, and that was kinda painful since one of them cost you the perfect score on the portrait ghost. At least, that's how it works in the vanilla game, though I don't see why it would be changed here.

I had no idea Luigi's Mansion fangames/rom hacks were a thing until now. Thank you algorithm for putting this on my radar. I will be sticking around and browsing. :)

So the final challenge in this hack is a Grim Reaper boss that directly proceeds a Dracula boss? That's never happened in a video game before. Luigi really can't escape Castlevania, huh?

perhaps you remember this darkness from the hidden mansion? im not sure about the US release since the hidden mansion hasnt changed in the US version, but i know in the pal version the hidden mansion is also darker among other changes.

I just played this today and man I’m glad I’m not the only one who found this to be bullshit hard and unfair. Oh and it gets worse btw I used save states to get bit further and it gets so much worse cause they put you in rooms full of ghosts like this but also a ton of those grabby ghosts plus the invisible ones.

Fun fact: Apparently, Luigi's mansion was originally planned for the N64 at the end of the N64's lifespan, and in the original script of the game, Mario was, in fact, going to be kidnapped in a similar fashion to this hack. However, instead of the Boos intending to kidnap Mario, they were going to take Luigi, and Mario reading the letter Luigi gave him, would have gone to the haunt in order to stop them from taking Luigi, offering himself instead and Luigi, after days of Mario not returning would go off to find Mario eventually finding Big Boo's Haunt where the boos would then attack him and we would have found the poltergeist behind the mansion while running away and accidentally captured the ghost. Of course, Luigi would become attached to the poltergeist, being the scared guy he is. Another neat thing in this hack that is from that N64 script is Dr. Elvis, as you may be interested to know, is, in fact, Dr. Egad's original character concept. The design the team of the hack made matches the way he is described as well, and his lore is one-to-one to that script, too. It was only after the Nintendo Luigi's Mansion team realized that Nintendo needed a new console that they decided to switch development and brainstorming for the game to the GameCube, where they then revamped the story changing Big Boo's Haunt into a mansion and saying the Boos tricked Luigi into believing he won it. Having Mario be suspicious and going to check out the mansion first. Then they thought that Egad's original name, lore, and story were a little out of place in the Mario world, so they kept the *E* from Elvis, and then they decided he would give the play the Poltergeist since he was the inventor and this time he wouldn't be a ghost. As a result, they decided to take the *g* from the word gadget as he would give you all the gadgets, and finally, they decided to take *ad* from the word rad as when they were writing the game for the GameCube, it was popular at the time. This resulted in the name we all know as Egad. Which, funny enough he was meant to be in a Mario Kart game, and his drivers license in one build of the DS Mario Kart says " Elvis Gadget Rad," meaning that's his full name, and in some of the Mario and Luigi games he cameos in some side characters will mention either Elvis, Gadget, or Rad which is the devs making a crack at his full government name although I can't remember if those jokes were exclusive to the JP version or not. So this hack is essentially what if the team had decided to still release the originally planned version of Luigi's Mansion on the N64 with a few liberties. That is also why I think they called it "Project Reality," as in if the team of Luigi's Mansion in another universe decided to go through with the original plan for the game.
