One thing i absolutely love about this video is that you mentioned the nut sizes! I have watched a lot of videos, cause i am missing 2 nuts from the 3rd brake light, and none of them mentioned the sizes. Thanks a lot!
Just bought a 2016 Premier. It rained for a few minutes while I was cleaning it so I took a break. I went back to cleaning and I found the tire mat in spare tire area was wet a little. The lady I bought it from hadn't driven it in over a year as she's been in assisted living and the vehicle has been in the garage the entire time so the water was from that little rain storm. It had the brake light water issue fixed back in 2017. I can see 2 streams of water running down the rear panel about 10" apart. I found a TSB that details defects in the application of the sealant in a few locations that causes this issue. The TSB for that is 20-NA-126. My next step is to remove the panels so I can see where the water is actually originating so I can resolve the issue.
Probably the most helpful video I have ever watched did it in 20 minutes and it worked perfectly. My dealership was super rude when I was trying to get it fixed and couldn’t even get to my car for a week
I had same issue on my 2017 Malibu. This was exactly the problem. One nut was completely gone, another was unscrewed halfway down the stud, I was able unscrew another by hand and the 4th nut was tight. Replaced all the nuts with plastic lock nuts and washers. All good now. Thanks.

I tried this out, used silicon the washers and the same nuts but it sadly didn’t workout for me :/ water still leaks in
Depending on the mileage of the car, there is a special coverage by Chevrolet at the dealer, complete fix at no cost!

Has there been any leaks since you fixed the light? I’m currently having this issue on my 2017 model.
Thanks man
2017 with the same issue. Thank you for posting this tutorial. Saved me so much money!
Is there another size bolt to use? The 10-32 does not fit my 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. Chevrolet put bolts on 3 out of 4 screws. Imbeciles!
5.5nm??
