Magni M24 Gyro Getting out of the rain!
Would you mind giving details of the map avionics and how you have mounted the iPad - mine vibrates in a similar position using a ram mounted
I used one of the screws that mounts the carbon panel to the metal frame then drilled through another in the frame. The other two screws (a four bolt ram mount) i used fender washers to help stiffen the carbon panel. I also keep the mount tight to the panel, this keeps it pretty steady. Hope that helps. Happy flying!!
@@djski9757 thank you for replying so quickly, would it be possible to expand your method - a list of the components would help and which parts of the ram mount are fixed directly to the panel
What is that squeal
great I was taught not to spin up until centered on runway spin up 215 stick back power on that way you have ground speed prior to rotors spinning fast enough for lift
Thanks, what type of gyro do you have.
Many mistakes I misconducted! Pre rotation must be initiated only on the rwy never before adding you should never center the stick with side wing on tact way wrong on all start flying even worse he may be in trouble quick.. Rotor Alive not concentration in flying talk too much. Make another training
DJSki did you have ballas on the passenger seat when you soloed.
trash pilot!!
Be helpful to review the speeds; Engine rpm? Blade rotation before releasing brake? Rotation at TakeOff? etc Thx
Lol damn dude! You got me leaning to the freakin left when you were taking off. 😅
Need to work on the airspeed and throttle. Your too fast on approach. I totally get the whole pitch to 60/65 but sometimes you're coming in around 80.... You might as well throttle back gradually, leaving throttle and then use the rotor pitch for decent. You can see your speed causes your cyclic hand to overpitch and thats why your bouncing.
Looks like you are flying it onto the run way like an aeroplane would like to see a zero roll landing
Clear sky over your head to you! Shoot more videos, it's nice to watch!
Great vid....bet you do things differently next time eh mate?
DJ thanks for bringing content of Magni M-24. Now we need someone to document a build.
Hello Dj, I spike with you in the spring shortly after you came home with your new gyro. i am less than 2 hours away, would like to meet some time. I am hoping to start lessons in February. I certainly have the fever and looking forward to training. I am glad you posted the first solo even with the surprises, It gives any newbies a taste of what to expect. How are you loving it so far?
Hi, just did my first flight while filming with sound. ua-cam.com/video/2-axfV-SaUs/v-deo.html Thanks again for your tips.
You'll have no problem landing in Texas with those skills Brother!
That looks like an incredible amount of fun!! I wanted a sport pilot cert for a plane, but now I'm obsessed with gyros. Hopefully in the spring!!
Wow, you really need an instructor with you. You are not ready at all! you do a poor job at rotor management, you are dangerous on take off, the gyro is flying you and your technique when landing is way off. My advice... get more instructor time, pay some more to save your life, equipment and others around you. Sorry, it needed to be said.
Awesome job, DJ👏
Thanks for your answer and details. Wow! you have the 915... no wonder you get this big kick to the right when the wheels leave the ground. The 143hp torque must be phenomenal and certainly takes you by surprise. I'm by this time you are completely used to it. My instructor has access to an M24 915 now... I saw her first take off with it two weeks ago. Even she got surprised the same way you did and she's got like 1500hours on M24/16/22. My M24 has the 914 (115hp). Maybe in a few years I'll get one too. I tried filming this weekend with a friend's gopro8. It took me some time to find the ideal position for the camera to get the best angle. I must say the gopro8 stabilization is incredible. I'm going to get myself one. Concerning the sound, I found a gopro8 mic adapter for like $60 :-( that allows the use of an external microphone. I read somewhere on the net that some use a tie microphone and stick it between there ear and the earcup of the headset. But I doubt that's what you did. Can you tell me more about this cable whose sound is really good? Thanks. Stephen from Aix-en-Provence, France.
www.mypilotstore.com/mypilotstore/sep/11806. This is what I purchased in the US. Hopefully you can find in your area. Happy flying!
Congrats! Also got my licence 6 months ago and I have an M24 of course! Is this the 914 engine or the 915 model? Great picture quality, and very nice angle. What camera did you use? Did you use any anti-vibration support other than an internal one? How did you capture the sound of the radio/intercom on the camera ... I wish I could film some shots as you did! Thanks for any help you can share with a beginner. Best regards from France.
Thanks for your comments, I have the 915, I felt it would be better with fuel injection living in the northern US. I use the gopro 8, it has good image stabilization. I found a cable that taps the audio to the camera, it is pricey but nice. No extra support for the camera. Still consider myself a new pilot, but is sure is fun! Happy flying, hope to see some video from your way sometime!
Loved it, WTG!!, most definitely for someone in training! Great CFI!
Thanks! Can't say enough good about my CFI's and MagniFlight LLC.
Also enjoyed the empty seat touch & go's! It only gets better!💯👍🏿 Oops!, just noticed this was posted 7 months prior. Should have said, "I'm sure those has gotten much much better!😁...
is this easy to fly then fix wing ?
Not sure, I am a gyro pilot only. Never flew fixed wing.
Why didn't you include the landing!?
watch clip_2
@@djski9757 Thanks for including clip 2 -- now have a much better perspective on t/o and landings w/o the 2nd seat weight, since I'm imminent for my solo as well. However, my CFI intends to add ballast in the passenger seat and remove gradually, which may lessen the impact of the immediate loss of weight. Again, very beneficial video and much appreciated.
@@lapoints1 Thanks for the kind words, I decided to post embarrassing video's, to possibly help others. Best wishes on your training and solo!
I wanted to see that too
Because he was making a bad approach land like the takeoff roll dangerous guy
Hello! I am the director of an upcoming documentary and was wondering if I could include a short clip from this video in the project? I am happy to credit your channel for filming it, and would really appreciate it. Feel free to shoot me an email at coasterstudioschannel@gmail(dot)com if you want to know more about my project. Thank you! -Taylor
nice touch and go in the sun
Nice landing!!
coolio keep them coming
Prerotating on holding point? It hurts in my eyes, sorry!
Yes you are right.! He had to Go back in school and learn something about Rotor Management. Not ready for Solo flights. And especially without Camera before you are Safe !
I was taught to NEVER maneuver on the ground with a spinning rotor unless rolling for take-off. According to my instructor the risk of roll-over of the gyro with a spinning rotor is significant, I took him on his word and never tried it myself.
@@cvzyl Do you manage your rotor when you land?
@@djski9757 On landing, bring gyro to a stop, then stick forward and allow blades to spin down, apply rotor brake, then taxi. Well that is what I was taught. When operating on rough fields it is recommended to spin the rotor to allow the centrifugal forces to help dampen the rotor flapping while maneuvering but that is at a low speed, like 20-50 rpm.
@@cvzyl not sure where you are, but I never stop on a runway. To much traffic, that would be impolite. I just manage the rotor, just need to be aware of wind direction.
Prerotating on holding point? It hurts in my eyes, sorry!
Me too ! I never looked this practice .. it's the same for the takeoff with the rotor at the flat !!!
@@Loic8306 Agreed. More of an advanced technique for speedy departures. Not wrong per say, but first solo? Eeeek. My opinion, and we'll all have our own, is that no way should a student pilot be sent up for a first solo without some ballast in his right seat when its a side by side config.
Great job DJ
Nice view of GGs old farm house!!
Looks super fun by the way!!
What is the height you like to cruise at on these videos DJ?
Anywhere from 600 to 2000 ft.
Beautiful views 🙂
Good job Bro getting use to that empty seat!
Yep, think I have it figured out. Just got back from a 135 nm solo cross country trip with 4 different airports, awesome fun.
Way to go!! So proud of you 💕
Great job 👍
DJ did awesome today! Wind was 18mph gusting to 25 while we were out. He edited out some of the fun landings.
Thanks Shannon!
Hows that handle when the winds pickup DJ? looked a little dicey but you handled it well before Zeta.
It actually handles the wind very good, just have to be aware.
Nice job pilot DJ😊
Good job, DJ!!!
Fly down to Texas Dj... drop in my backyard!
Brings back wonderful memories!
That looks Fun DJ !! Keep it going!
