Livestream Recap - Unboxing Synty Studios Apocalypse Wasteland
Join me in this recap of my recent livestream unboxing the amazing new POLYGON Apocalypse Wasteland pack from @syntystudios with my special guest @MajorBatman .
We explore the demo scene, breakdown the pack and check out how it works, what you can do with it and look at the incredible assets. This is an incredible asset review of an amazing pack that's clearly been a long time in development, and one of the best packs Synty have made to date.
We talk about modular vs non modular assets and the benefits this pack gets from not being a part of the Synty "Build 2.0" system.
This time there's something new and amazing on the table with @MajorBatman and I taking 3 challenges away from the video to complete.
1. Create an epic boss animation for the Octopus Crane
2. Design and build an epic weapon using the modular weapon pieces. Including particle systems, scripts, whatever it needs to be ready to use.
3. Create an image mashup using this pack and one of the older Synty packs.
Keep an eye out soon for a new video featuring the challenge outcomes.

Helped with an issue I was having, thank you
Thanks, really good tutorial!
Thanks a lot, Tim!
This is a nice pack I like the guns and vehicles they are sick looking.
Still better than Starfield
Nice
thank you so much! i'm working on a shooter and right now the weapon looks fine in the game but it stays still and looks really, really wonky in the editor
Thanks man
thanks a bunch for this
Great video, thanks for making it. I could only listen to it if I only had the left ear sound. With the right ear sound as well it was really hard to listen to.
Render texture is redundant in this case. You may just put 3d object in ui on ui layer and upscale it to be visible. Render texture is more of tv/monitor ingame imitation.
Scaled up objects can work, but a canvas is not intended to display 3d objects. Large objects can have floating point issues, they can intersect and overlap through UI elements or have shadowing issues. There's always more than one way to skin a cat. :) This is absolutely an intended use for render textures, it's why they support transparency.
@@GameDevBits 1. Agreed. 2. More than one skin? Instantiate prefab. Usage of render texture increase draw calls. For PC it pretty much ok, but for mobile no.
Love this. So nicely explained!
Nice work Tim! Looking forward to seeing a lot more of your videos!!
Man, I love your tutorials! So easy to follow!

This looks so easy!! I am going to try this!!
Nice, so neat!!!
Oh man, I am going to remember to watch all your videos every few months!!
Thank you, very helpful!
Did not realize I could add multiple colliders to an object!!!
Thanks Tim. I tried this concept with the Simple characters, and it messes up the 'origin' of the characters.
Such a good explanation!!
Thank you Tim. Looking forward to these tips!
Love these! Always to the point!!
Brilliant work!!
Nice one! Thank you!!
I have never used terrains, but this series of yours makes me want to use them!
Nice work on this Tips series Tim!

Woah, love this!!
Another video that's so helpful. Thanks!

Really excited for this pack once it's on a good enough sale!
Thank you Tim for walking us through the asset pack!
Hey! Any clues on how to render frames with alpha in URP? thanks!
I was trying to use Synty characters with Kevin Iglesias animations. I watched some of his videos and was quite lost. Then I came across this one and it worked pretty much on the first try. Thanks!
It works just fine thank you
Son of a biscuit, it is just that easy, I was looking into more convoluted methods. Thank you, good sir.
Banger!
Thanks man , we are looking for great tutorials like that in the future , Big thanks from Syria
