Baker Street Bag by Sew Sweetness Remake
The Baker Street Bag by Sew Sweetness was one of the first bags I made, about 6 or 7 years ago.
I love this bag, it's so functional! But after so many years of wear and tear, the zipper started to come loose and the fabric has lost it's shine! :)
So it's time to make a new one, but this time I'm using faux leather. So today I'm sharing with you the small changes I made to this beautiful and practical, everyday bag. Enjoy!

Today we’re sewing the beautiful Zarya Hip Bag by Apple Green Cottage. This is a very spacious bag and easy to make. I used a different type of fabric that it’s not usually used for bag making (at least not that I know of), I used Scuba Neoprene. I love the feel of this fabric and it’s pretty easy to use. 🔣 Packing Cube Formula: alliesewcrafty.com/pages/packingcubeformula 🔗LINKS: Pattern Used -...

Amazing tutorial!!!🎉
Intro too long 😥 ......
🤷🏻♀️
Hi @Allie ! Thank you for creating this video. I still feel bad pricing my crafts because it's true what you say, it's expensive all the materials we buy and then our markup, and time for production. Also I wanted to ask you, your spreadsheet didn't include threads... Do you have a recommendation on a charge for threads? Thank you. Blessings!
Hi! Because threads are so difficult to calculate how much you're using, I include that as part of the markup. Things like tools that eventually we have to replace, like scissors, bobbins, or electricity, etc. All of that is part of that markup. You can take a percentage of that markup and set aside for those overhead charges. Hope that helps! :)
@@AllieSewCrafty Thank you 🙌🏻💕🙋🏻♀️💕💕
Muito linda essa bolsa
Gracias :)
Hello 👋 I'm so glad I ran into your awesome tutorial on this bag. I have this pattern among others from Bagstock Designs & others. I'm a visual learner and have difficulties following written instructions. You have no idea how much your tutorial has helped me. I will be able to make this bag following your amazing and clear instructions. Love the way you instruct each step all the way. You didn't rush through it which is even better for me to follow. I thank you so much. I just became your subscriber. Looking forward to more bag making tutorials from you. God bless you! 💖👍🙌👏🙏🌹
You have no idea how you've made my day with this comment! ❤️❤️ Thank you so much! ❤️ God bless you too!
Just a thought... Could you attach interfacing first and then the Odicoat if you wanted a sheen? I might try that test just to see! Great video!
I think you can add the interfacing first, but definitely test it because the "wetness" of the liquid vinyl or odicoat may create bubbles in the interfacing. Thank you! :)
I like this method! 😃
Yay :)
Thank you! I am looking for a "teacher" bag that could also hold a laptop. I love the cute design!
This is, till this day, my go to bag for my laptop, travel, everything. I've been using this bag for 3 years now and it's still my favorite! :)
so what is the name of the thing? where did you get it?
Hi is the Seam Fix seam reaper. Here is the link where I purchased it from amzn.to/3WjxgVf
Never thought about using WPC to do quit as you go. Tip from a quilter. Easier to start in the middle of your batting and work both ways. Your way works but I believe it is easier working from the center. I have to try this now.
Thank you! You can tell this is the first time me doing this 😆 After being half way done, I realized starting from the center would have been easier 😊
It looks cute, Allie…and promising
Thank you :) Yes, I'm not done with it yet but so far so good :)
It's coming together so nicely. Love using up scraps.
Using scraps is the best! :)
I would love a copy of that cheat sheet please, thank you for your helpful explanation.
Hi! Yes here it is riomar-travel-organizers.myshopify.com/pages/measuring-tape-cheat-sheet
I love the tabs on the back. I have done that bag before. I always put my tabs on the side like Leanne does it. I'll try it your way. Thanks for the tutorial.
You're very welcome! :)
Talk too much
😂😂😂
I really like the first one especially the look of it. However, when you said it doesn’t hang well, disappointed me because it was so pretty.
I get it, but you can make it and leave it there for decoration only 😊 But when you start using it, that’s when it looses its beautiful shape.
Thank you so much for this great tutorial…you are a blessing! 💕
❤️❤️ Thank you so much! :)
Clear vinyl pouch 😊
🙌🏼😊
In reality it is a waste of money for that expensive little jar because eventually the fabric is never waterproof.
I see what you're saying, it just add a little protection and makes it easier to clean :)
Thank you! I will be zigzagging my foam instead of the straight stitch. :)
Your welcome! :) 😊
Will you be doing any Christmas ornaments?
I haven't made any Christmas ornaments before, but that is a good idea.!
I just finished my first towel topper. It turned out so cute, I love it. Ty so much.
You're welcome! :) These are so easy to make and so cute right? :)
I needed a much bigger, and compressible, packing cube for packing a large tent on my motorcycle. I used your formula, and made only 1 change to make a cube 22" x 11" x 7.5", that compresses down to 4.5". I made the compression panel wider, and sewed the zipper tape about an inch from the edge of the panel, in order to get the needed height for the cube, both compressed and open. Thank you so much for all your packing cube videos... the combination of all of them made this project a success!!!
Wow that's amazing! I'm so happy the videos were able to help you accomplish that task :) 😊
Hello, just discovered this video and I really want to try to make my own compression pascking cubes. I have a lot of leftover fabric, mainly cotton, can I use it? I would rather use what I already have instead of buying more fabric. Thank you!
Hi! Yes of course you can use cotton, even canvas. I used ripstop because is also waterproof, but of course! I’ve made them with quilting cotton as well 😊
@@AllieSewCrafty Thank you! I won't have time to make them for this year's trips bit will definitely give it a go.
Hello, I have never altered a pattern, would it be easy to make smaller packing cubes from your tutorial? I am thinking 2 big 2 medium and 2 small maybe? Thank you!
@@lucieboivigny7913 Yes, that is definitely doable. Just pick the medium size, and then make the other ones either 2 inches bigger or smaller. :)
Love it can’t wait to make it. 😊 ty so glad I found your site
Welcome!!! :) Yes, they're definitely a great quick project :)
Nice, as always!
Thank you so much! :)
I would like a cheat sheet.
Hi Ms. G, the link is in the description but I've added the link here as well. You can just download it. Also, I deleted your other comment with your info for security purposes 😊 cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0550/1622/6989/files/measurement.pdf?v=1657067148
Thank you for explaining so well how did you place the zipper. It is a beautiful crossbody purse. I like the combination of the colors.
Thank you so much!😍
Thank you
You're welcome 😊
Thank you
You’re welcome! 😊
can this method also be used for making chair cushions. my cushions now are quilted, I do not want to quilt them on the new fabric. Will your method work on a much larger scale.
I think so. If just joining around the edges, it should work. Let me know if it works out for you.
Hopefully u will get this soon wanting to get started on a project that's when you know you have a gift of soul is when I can soak cut and it fits never had to worry about a measuring tape until now LOL
Here it is! :) cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0550/1622/6989/files/measurement.pdf?v=1657067148
Very helpful. Thank you 😊
You're welcome! :)
Where is the full video for this bag? Love your videos!
Hi! Thank you so much 😊 here is the link Crystal Clear Zipper Pouch by Sewnideas - Using Quilting Cotton and HTV - 2 Ways to Make it! ua-cam.com/video/gRTvsSR0eis/v-deo.html
I tested OdiCoat on some samples a few years ago using a credit card edge but didn't really like the end result, and when sewing for a business the time involved didn't make it practical. Thanks for the comparison.
Definitely! 😊 you’re very welcome ☺️
I’ve used odicoat and just use like a credit card…… it fits in the jar so no dumping and you can put it on a lot thinner. Works great!I usually use it on finished projects. ❤️
Great tip! Thanks! Why I didn't think of that?! 😆😆😆
This is great! Thank you!!
You are so welcome! 😊
Thank u!

Thank you!! 😍😍
Great instructions. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful! 😊
Thanks, Allie!
You're so welcome! 😊
Did I miss how long and wide the straps need to be ?
Hi I go over the handle measurements here ua-cam.com/video/loUHUlVZdG8/v-deo.html&si=NtpKbe4IjHfO1tbY hope that helps!
I like the fact that you made it in three different sizes. Beautiful 😊
Thanks! 😊
She didn't check the how waterproof the fabric is with only one coat. Just because the instructions say you have to put on 2 coats . having a non-glossy fabric might be desired. It would good to know how waterproof one coat might be. Also, how does the fabric preform when you wet the uncoated side ? A little skeptical experimentation might be desirable here. After all, wouldn't the manufacturer be happier if the customer used twice as much product, regardless how it preformed?
This question came at the right time! Wow! I'm actually in the process of testing Odicoat and Heat N Bond liquid vinyl and testing different coats on fabric and how they perform. Great question about how the fabric performs on the uncoated side. I didn't think of that, but will sure include it. I'm actually recording the results tomorrow and will have it ready in the next 2 weeks. I'm testing 1 coat, 2 coats and 3 coats, if you have any other questions, please let me know :)
Thank you for your fantastic post. I am just having difficulty applying the seam binding as the rip stop does fray a bit. Do you have any video for this?
Hi! Thank you so much! Oh I don't think I have a video about the seam binding. Why don't you cut the ripstop fabric double the width size and fold it twice, like you would do regular binding. This is to protect the raw edges. That may work :)
