All Of O'Neill's 1001
Приєднався 23 тра 2007
A project to record all the tune's in Francis O'Neills work, "The Dance Music Of Ireland, 1001 Gems." Each tune is memorized and performed from memory, hopefully presenting each tune as musically as possible.
Mandolin by JJ Ryan
My own tune and a common hop jig, played on my A style mandolin, recently made by JJ Ryan in Glasgow, Scotland.

Great performance 🔥
Aah! You've added mandolin to the list. Nice playing.
Hi. What brand/model is that whistle? All the best 👍
A Generation whistle, but modified by me to improve intonation and timbre
@Fipplehead You've done a great job. The sound is very nice 👌
How can you make a cheap whistle like that sound so good ? Wow !
Hup 👏
How in the world do u not have more views
congratulations
You gave a new life to the tune 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hup. 👏
Nice one! Is it listed under a different name in O’Neil’s by chance? Couldn’t find it in my copy.
If it's O'Neills 1001, it's #599, might be different in his 1850 tunes, or in the later edited edition called o Neills Music Of Ireland
Good to see you again Kyle!!!
Loving this compilation of tunes. Great idea. Excited to see the "All of O'Neill's" journey continue. Great crans in this tune BTW. Well played.
Thanks! Hard to find the time, but getting there slowly
❤ Love your work
👏👏👏
What setting of the tune is this? It seems to differ from the ones I could find.
Wow!!! VERY impressive! I am trying to learn this on ssp.
Great! I was looking for a version to listen. I'm supposed to be playing this for a dance tomorrow and only know it from sheet music, which is not at all the same as a living tune. And this one doesn't seem to get played much! Thanks much!
Fantastic playing and beautiful ornamentation and breath work
Glad you like it!
Wow!😊
Lovely stuff and a great idea
This is an Irish version of the Scottish Jig, Teviot Bridge, which was composed by Alexander Givan of Kelso ( 1752-1803 ).
I learned it, many years ago, as The Sailor on the Rock from a tape by banjoist, Gerry O'Connor. The O'Neill's version was only recognisable by the 2nd part (Gerry has his own style which i copied at the time and his 1st part is quitedifferent). So, i had to relearn it and kinda prefer the older transcript. 😊 You're a very nice flute player, by the way. I've watched a few of your videos by now.
I'm going to learn that tune from O'Neill's now, myself. I'll add it to a set with Kitty Got a Clinking Coming from the Races. The challenge then is to hold a straight face while I'm announcing them at a gig 😂🤣
Well done! My interest in this tune is because my Dad had a brother and sister who married a sister and brother from Mullinavat. Hence, i'm learning the tune now 😊
I live in Mullinavat all my life both my parents and grandparents are mullinavat... heard this tune before but never knew the name of it...
Good man. I'm from Co. Kilkenny and am starting to learn this tune right now.
Some tasty jig. Thanks !
I knew this as The Frost Is All Over/Kitty Lie Over , no clue it had yet another name!
Well done, thanks!
Wonderful sound!! Thanks for posting. Indiana USA 9/16/23
Thanks for this channel , what a great idea.
Wow! You’re really great! I love the pulse and swing in your playing!
Glad you like it!
Superb... also commonly (arguably more commonly?) known these days as Give Us A Drink Of Water, the name by which The Bothy Band recorded it...
Behind the Haystack cousin 🙂
A true legendary tune in Spain in the 70's because of this Breton band: ua-cam.com/video/ev9elRrE8sA/v-deo.html
The bouzouki player reminds me of Viggo Mortensen :) Great piece of music!
Thanks for the great tune! Who is the maker of your 8 keyed flute? You don’t see those as often in ITM, usually 6
The flute was made by Michael Grinter
fire stuff
Welcome back Kyle!! Thank god you didn't stop doing this 🎉🎉🎉
You just popped up for me this moment; it must be the trend of Irish tenor banjo videos the algae rhythm started throwing at me. I LURVE this tune! And you're playing the bejesus out of it! That was sweet. Well, now I know where to look for vids to watch in my spare time. ;-)
Superb tune and grand playing of it!
good to see you back!
Welcome back !
Thanks! :)
Beautiful, Neill! I'm an amateur, studying this number on my plastic Yamaha recorder. I can't get nearly that level of ornamentation. Your performance is very inspiring!
super félicitation
Love this. I'm a beginner recorder player. Listening to how well this lovely song is played be you is inspiring me to pock up my speed. Thank you.
Hey what is that flute? It has exactly the sound I'm looking for!
You are a Very talented musician, sound beautiful 🤗
Prettily played in a beautiful spot!
Hup.
Beautiful ❤
