At age 13 I was a busgirl at a restaurant at the Palm Springs Arial Tramway in Calif. Art was performing there. We became fast friends. I used to have one of his tapes. Wow he’s still at it 😮

I met Art in 1976 at the Palms Springs Aerial Tramway. I worked as a bus girl in the restaurant where he performed. We became fast friends. I used to have one of his tapes. Is he still alive? He has to be in his 90’s?

In future years, I hope that Livermore's four middle schools will return to their tradition of entering marching bands in the Livermore Rodeo Parade. In the 1980s, there was a "virtuous rivalry" between Mr. Bernie Berke's East Avenue Dolphins Marching Bands, Mr. Mike Ward's Junction Avenue Bulldogs Marching Band and the Mendenhall Mustangs Marching Band. The East Avenue School Marching Band almost always played John Phillip Sousa marches during the years that Mr. Bernie Berke directed the band, including "Thunderer" in 1985, "Semper Fidelis" in 1986, "Washington Post March" in 1987, and "Fairest of the Fair" in 1988.

I would like to chat with Art Brogli sometime. His first song was recorded years ago on a vinyl record album. A folk dance group that I belonged to between 1989 and 2003 had choreographed a Swiss dance to that recording. We continue to use that music and dance to this day. Contrary to the record label, the Zoge am Boge (Pull on the Bowstring) is what the Swiss call a "polka" (better known in the US as a "schottische"). Oddly enough, as a Salt Lake City native, I recognized the picture on the record jacket as Utah's iconic Mt Timpanogos, not the Swiss Alps.
