Yeah, it’s sad to see them go they were some of my favorite trains to see when I was a kid and their replacement is not as cool. Also, doing a bit of research they got rid of them because there was nobody to make new ones.

That is correct, that is my HO scale model of the heritage highball. The L&N freight was pulled by L&N 1315 which is preserved at southern Appalachia railroad museum. Thanks for watching, and I appreciate all your nice comments you’ve been making on my shorts!!!

As cool of an idea that is, I don’t think that’s gonna happen. Unfortunately K&T 10 was taken out of service in the 1970s due to some issues. I don’t remember what they are. However, number 10 will be restored cosmetically. BSFSRY owns steam engine, it’s 0-8-0 and has been remembered to K&T 14. Eventually 14 will be restored, the restoration has been on hold due to some legal problems with the contractors, restoring it or something like that.

@@therectorrailroad2716 I know. I just thought I’d throw out the idea. Also, K&T 14 is an 0-6-0, albeit a heavy 0-6-0 with a boiler large enough for an 0-8-0.

@@SouRwy4501Productions whoops, my bad you are correct it is an 0-6-0. Personally, I would love to see that happen myself. I had an idea as well I thought about having 10 up there at Stearns for static display. Another idea I had is for 4501 to be dressed back up as K&T 12 and do a few trips or a passing of the torch when K&T 14 is finished.

@@therectorrailroad2716 they’re actually considering doing a photo charter with 4501 being repainted into K&T 12 at TVRM in September.

Agreed the F units we’re better! However, the Heritage Units are now pulling it and that’s kind of nice.

@@SEIC2K6IsImproving yes, indeed and I’m glad it did! 8099 is my favorite NS heritage unit. Plus, I love the improvements that they did to it.

@@SEIC2K6IsImproving yes they did. It was CSX 1103, it was originally built as L&N 5003. It’s a sister unit to the one at Kentucky steam and hopefully it too, will be repainted back into its original colors.

@@therectorrailroad2716 it's one of 5 SW1500s preserved. The other 4 are CSX #1100, WP #1503 in California, WC #1563 in Wisconsin, and Nasa Railroad #2 in Florida.

The model used for the Heritage highball version of 2716 is a PFM/united brass C&O Kanawha. And you can find these models typically on eBay or other online sites that sells brass engines. Fun fact as well. This is actually the same model that you see on our store.

Yeah, there’s some pretty good size ones the video. I don’t know if I uploaded it yet or not but there was a grain train that I caught that was literally two in one! It had three locomotives up in the front, three mid train dpus and it weighed over 24,000 tons!

Yes they are! Most railroads do that sometimes, they’re called funeral trains. So you can catch them around the US but It’s very rare though.
