@@wattboat a drum controller can definitely make it sort of a different game! IINE Pro Max controller would be the cheapest entry point for an arcade sized drum. It typically costs ~$150-$200 USD which isn't too bad

@@seb3082 I thought I would struggle more on this, and I did on Switch. But after moving to a setup that's better synced, this became not too bad to knock out. This was def a case where the gameplay took like 15 minutes to get, and then video editing and thumbnail editing took far longer

I only found out yesterday that TDMX and Nijiro only have shin uchi scoring

@@Gamr-bc6kp actually, it's not Shin-uchi, but a really similar scoring system. The most in your face difference between Ninjiro scoring (which is also used in TDM) is that you don't need to hit both sides of the drum to get full point credit for big notes

The version you see is actually Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum Sessions available on the PS4! It still holds up pretty well IMO and has a better training mode compared to Rhythm Festival TAIKOLLER vs Taiko Force Lv5 (my previous controller): Gameplay - feel was pretty identical, but TAIKOLLER gets an edge for configurable sensitivity/polling Navigation - TAIKOLLER was far more convenient when dealing with consoles. Taiko Force Lv5's controller for console navigation leaves a lot to be desired. Taiko Force Lv5 requires one controller per platform (~$40 USD per controller), and is overall a tedious experience. Buttons press well enough for single taps, but not great for scrolling. Not all console buttons exist meaning some navigation functions (e.g. choosing song favorites) can't be done with the Lv5. TAIKOLLER solves that with the singular orange controller that has all buttons and can change profiles as needed using the controller. The only downside is that the cable is short. Repairability - TAIKOLLER can be repaired whereas the Lv5 cannot be in many cases. However the Lv5 does have a reputation for longevity. It's also not clear that you will be able to get the replacement parts you need for the TAIKOLLER or how much that would cost. Overall Durability/Quality - TAIKOLLER has had issues reported by at least one other user who seemingly never got a resolution. This is uses hard plastic which helps keep costs down. I don't know the long term quality implications of this decision are. Taiko Force Lv5 is made by hand using a hard wood and seemingly doesn't run into issues very often given the more static non-repairable build choice of the product. I haven't run into hardware issues with my TAIKOLLER. Taiko Force Lv5, I've had some things come aloose which was resolved by retightening screws every 6 months or so. Support - I can't speak for the Lv5, but customer support for the TAIKOLLER was pretty non-responsive. When I ran into an issue that wasn't resolvable by updating the utility, they seemingly didn't know what to do and remained silent for a couple of months. This issue would later be solved by a Namco update of Rhythm Festival. If you run into issues, just assume you're on your own. By the time support got back to me, I figured out the solution to my own issues, or Namco solved said issues with a patch. It's worth noting the that Taiko Force Lv6 is configurable now, and uses a metal construction inside the drum to make it one of the most arcade accurate drums on the market. I have no idea if it's repairable or not, but I think Power Zhang has earned a reputation for producing reliable products.

@@Ermagerd2000 Thank you so much for the writeup my friend!! I've had so much trouble finding a decent comparison since so few people tend to have multiple premium drums. I can confirm that the PS4 versions looks great! My only concern is that Rhythm Festival on PC supports unlocked frame rates, which to be fair is mostly a luxury, but it’s nice to avoid the smudging and the input latency is reduced. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve noticed that you use what looks like your previous Zhong rubber front on your Taikoller at times. What are the benefits there? By the way Zhong sells the drum body, do you have any opinions on that accessory? I’m a little surprised at your poor experience with Gamo. I’ve ordered several things from them related to SDVX (the faucetwo and replacement parts) and they’ve been quick to respond. However I have only really talked to them about the purchase itself, not post technical support, so that’s fair. Oh and for the record, there’s a disassembly of the Taikoller available online and the internals do seem to be metal with the exterior casing being plastic. Seems like a good way to save some weight on an otherwise pretty heavy drum if you ask me.

I still look for comparison info for drums, particularly Zhong Taiko v Taiko Force Lv6, and it's typically tough to find that presumably because of how expensive the drum controllers are. Initially the rubber that was on my TAIKOLLER was from the Taiko Force Lv5. I eventually switched that back to the default TAIKOLLER rubber skin for troubleshooting reasons. The issue turned out to be a Rhythm Festival (Switch Version) issue which Namco patched in case anyone's wondering. For me, the theoretically lower latency, 120+ fps, and finer calibration options make it an easy sell to hardcore Taiko players. Unfortunately the game has performance issues that causes frame and input drops which makes the game harder to recommend to someone looking for their first entry into the series. Body: I'm not clear on the justification for the cost. $500 USD (minus shipping) is a lot to ask when you could use that money to buy a whole new drum controller. I have considered such a thing for aesthetics, heavy base weight, and to ensure the angle I'm playing at is as close to arcade as possible. But the price is really big for what seems to be a heavy base. That's not to say it's overpriced. I just don't understand the price. Maybe I'll revisit this in the future if I start making more money. Re: Gamo2, I suspect my poor experience was partly due to how new this controller is, and Gamo2's overall inexperience with troubleshooting this. They didn't seem to know what to do after all the basic troubleshooting steps were shown to be irrelevant. I have to consider that experience and advise/act accordingly. But the product and price point compared to the alternatives is good. I can't outright recommend it though because what if there actually was a hardware/software problem? I'm not sure how hard it would've been to get the support I needed. As for the construction materials, I was mistaken. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I assume the Zhong Taiko and Taiko Force Lv6 are still closer to arcade spec due to the usage of wood as opposed to the materials Gamo2 uses, but I have no idea how much that difference matters in practice.

Internally, I was in disbelief. Imagine hitting that section perfectly on command repeatedly. And then the one time you don't hit it perfectly was a DFC run. I goofed and now I have to spend more time grinding it. There were so many internal emotions that happened in the span of like 20 seconds
