Dreaming Tree Artist Retreat Grandmother Tree Junk Journal
Created to document in drawings my Chinquapin Oak Tree 6th largest in Virginia, Apx 4-500 years old! The tree is in my front yard of my home built in 1756 original 2 story logs rooms in the center of house. Chinquapin Creek goes around the tree. It’s great living at an art retreat, I often sit on the front porch swing with a grand view of this tree here in the Shenandoah Valley.

This was a fun project. I’ve been wanting to try using layers of newsprint originally, but I wanted to try using this very lightweight Japanese paper sprayed with oxide ink, and also a stamp and some alcohol ink sewing a binding on it creating a little miniature signature and then glued into the Signature of my junk journal .

#dephemerember challange No.17 was flip out and old picture ♥️So keeping with Grandmother Tree themed journal for documenting my 4-500 year old tree, I chose an old drawing of a Raven with a cupcake. I use a lot of my hand dyed papers in my journals, and this one I’ve decorated sticks from the tree and added it to the edge of pages.

I used a nature/science theme when creating this journal. Documenting nature, insects, and my yard chickens, especially any ravens and lots of flowers here at “Dreaming Tree Artist Retreat” Using the challenges from Barbara in Austria at 49 dragonflies and Louisa Hansel by the same name, I actually made a sewing themed journal at the same time.

What a stunning journal. The Chinkapin Oak is my favorite tree. There was one on our Girl Scout property that I had to hike to. Just standing under it is magnificent. You are so lucky to have one.
Where was your oak tree at? Are you in the states?
@@rebeccadaleartthecreativewande I live in the eastern part of Kansas and Chinkapins are not common but do grow in select spots. This property was just outside of Topeka ks. It is hilly and not all of Kansas is flat.

Hey! Just subscribed under my few channel names (hopefully that helps you!) also a tip from a fellow UA-camr…..when recording with your phone like this turn it side ways so when you post your video it shows full screen ;) it’s hard to see like this even on my 75” tv but of course I’ll watch because I love room tours. Hugs from Ontario Canada
OK, I just made my first video with the phone turn sideways. I’ve been really busy with the retreat part of it and haven’t focused on the videos. Thanks for the hint and sharing. I can move along with doing more videos. Thank you.
