Zoidberg LilyGo T-Deck T-Keyboard Meshtastic powered Case
The LilyGo T-Deck is a unique Meshtastic powered device because it does not require a Bluetooth connection to a phone, it operates stand alone. Like most Meshtastic devices though it does not include a case, thats where Zoidberg comes in!
Zoidberg is a 3D printed case or for the T-Deck available to buy from my website zerofox3d.com as either a physical case or 3D printer files. The physical case includes SMA connector, battery adapter cable and there is even an option handmade antenna from PTPlace available too. Simply add your T-Deck and one of three different batteries.
02:10 Assembly Instructions
Get you Zoidberg here: zerofox3d.com/zoidberg
I've shipped over 2000 cases worldwide for Meshtastic devices, check out my feedback on Google and buy with confidence.

The sibling of my wildly popular Bender case for the HeltecV3 is finally here. Hi. Really nice project and well designed case. But I think that today hardly anyone wants to mount such large parts visibly in their home, especially when you see how small and inconspicuous some PIR devices today are (e.g. AQARA P1 Zigbee motion detector)... I think that in addition to functionalities, it would be necessary to also work on making the whole thing as compact as possible. Then it would certainly be a super successful sensor. If you could expand this into an all-in-one device, including HomeAssistant voice control, then it would be awesome ;) I'm excited to see what happens next with this project and I'll definitely follow it. Thumbs up and subscribed :) Thanks

      The size was dictated by a couple of factors. Firstly using DuPont connectors which in theory makes the build easier. Second one is sensor accuracy, specifically temperature. Other popular sensors at the time I was developing this needed temp offset values specifying in the YAML because the heat from the ESP and other components caused the sensor to report incorrect values. Leela has several design choices to avoid this. It will never compete with Zigbee based sensors, they use much less power than ESP WiFi boards, but Leela is a fun project and can be built very cheaply 😁

    • @Smoothy0911
      @Smoothy0911 16 днів тому

      Thanks for your answer. Yes, I am aware of these points. In terms of temperature development, ZIGBEE obviously has an advantage. To get this point under control with your combo sensor, I would consider decoupling the housing... In short: A component that generates heat and is mounted in a housing will heat up the housing over time and subsequently also its interior and a temperature sensor built into it. It is always disadvantageous if a temperature sensor and a component that generates heat are on the same mounting plate (here the half shell of the PIR housing). Over time, the heat will reach the temperature sensor, either via contact on the housing or via the heated interior air. I would store the temperature sensor in a separate small housing, decoupled from the main housing, in such a way that it is only connected to the main housing via very delicate (filligree) connections. These housing connecting elements should avoid heat conduction by using as little material as possible and also allow the energy to be released to the outside air (acting as a heat sink surrounded by outside air). Perhaps this theory will help a little.

      The cost is more than just plastic. It’s weeks of my time developing it. It’s the hardware which is included. It’s my Dad’s time preparing all the battery boxes and JST cables. My manufacturing partners time soldering all the cables. My wife’s time doing all the packaging. It’s the cost of building a print farm, renting an office, paying tax. There is profit, of course, but it’s not exorbitant and I have yet to receive a single complaint in over 1000 orders. Just built my six Benders and four Nibblers. The craftsmanship that went into these goes way beyond hobbyist, I'm impressed. I do have one question about the Nibblers though; without the Bender's convenient on/off switch, and given the Nibbler's built-in rechargeable battery, is it possible to turn the Nibbler off when not in use? My mesh is intended to be used as a backup comms network for my friends, family, and a few people in my neighborhood when the power/grid goes down. In Florida, it's an annual concern to prep for. Should I just let my Nibblers' batteries drain to dead and then recharge them when it's time to hand them out and use them?

      Thanks bud. Nibbler is designed to be daily carried and charged, you can power it down by holding the program button (top) too. My other case, Bender, has a power switch and has an easily swapped 18650 cell, more suitable as a "disaster node". I'd have liked to have put a physical switch on Nibbler too but space was at a premium and it further complicates production.... I've done a lot of soldering in the last few months lol

      The battery recommended by Zerofox3D also has built in BMS to stop over discharge.

      @@FastAsFunk I am aware of that. The concern is ensuring the device is ready to use when needed. It will function if used and charged daily like a phone. However, without a power switch, you cannot store the device and be certain it remains charged unless you physically disconnect the battery. This device uses an ESP32, which will eventually run out of charge even in deep sleep mode without a power switch. Zerofox3D mentioned already it was more for daily use and not as disaster preparedness.

    ... and I was just about to ask if the STLs are available - glad I watched to the end. As for the battery adaptors, I just bought two packs of each size with the idea of soldering them together. You could make a fortune just selling these!

      The hardware kits are on the site now too so, not put up the battery cable separately yet as I don't want to cannibalise the stock for Nibbler. I'll see how it goes though because I think you are correct! Thanks for the order ;-)

    Not only are these cases attractive they are extremely practical as well. A really well thought out design - my order is already in!
