I Ran 5k Every Day for 2 Years
How did the laziest guy in the world get off the sofa 730 days in a row and run? How did an avid indoorsman get his butt outdoors, rain or shine, for a daily 5K? What is the secret to never having to use will power---since you don't have much in the first place? Here's my story of perseverance without perseverance; of grit without grit; of determination void of determination; of how I got my heart rate up and my legs moving without an ounce of passion or will power. I hope you're underwhelmed enough to say "geez, even I could do that." A daily 5k commitment takes all the need for decision out of the equation and leaves you a little less lame than you were when your streak began. At least that's my story.

2 years, great effort. I was happy when I did 10k a day for a month.
I like this. Simple, basic but useful thank you 🙏
What song are you using?
swiss, klausscoyntry wirh that flu war ...
Add pull-ups/bodyweight rows to your routine. You'll love the results.
You are lucky living in a nice place… I live in a hot humid not running friendly city so I run in my apartment between the bedroom and living room 5k daily..:enjoy living in your town…take care
I notice that you do not include Sunday in the weekly spread. Do you simply not plan out Sundays? Also, for "month at a glance", what do you use on the left/right out of habit tracker, future dates, and to-do?
Seriously one of the best running videos because your honest & real I love authentic people! Thank you for sharing!
Every day? Thats cap 🧢
What a good decision I was just like you, very lazy But at 20, I decided to run 5K everyday and 3 years on, it was the best decision I ever made!
Thank you for going through I detail you version on what you do, for you and your family 😁😁 such a lovely, calm lady. Wish you well with your mornings 😁
My grandfather is nearly 100 and he used to take a lot of cold showers, he said to me once that what matters the most is what you put in your 40s will carry you through the rest of your life
Love your no frills honesty man.
You are underated for doing this
Loved the video, hated the music
Thanks for sharing! Really appreciated listening to your thought processes. As a fellow lazyboy I'm the same it's all or nothing (and I usually choose nothing) but the streak thing works. It's worked for me with alcohol and nicotine, and who knows, maybe running. Thanks again man.
I'm 3 months into my 5k/day currently. I dream of moving to Zurich. I watched this video during my 5k run this morning. Thank you for the motivation and sense of clarity.
Maybe, just maybe, give yourself a bit more credit ;) Thank you for sharing!
Hate when great content creators just disappear :(
The Push Ups are solid!
So simple.❤
Unfortunately, my shifts at workplace change every week. I can only follow 2 weeks of any morning routine then my night shift will pause all these miracles 😔
Fantastic and inspiring. Thanks!
I see why they quit recording videos. BORING
I’m 254 days into my streak of at least 5k everyday… loving it!
I love this so much! I think it helps that you took the choice out of it. 👍
You are so honest and real with yourself its hilarious great video😂 😃👍
I'm a girl and I am now starting my first bullet journal and in just the first pages I was like "maybe this is not for me" (because I wanted something really funcional and minimal and the aesthetics went down the drill). But now that I see yours I feel really inspired and motivated. It doesn't need to be "pinterestic" to have value and do the job. Thank you so much to show us a real bullet journal! What a world we live in when even a notebook has beauty standards!
I doubt some of them even use the artsy bullet journal they uploaded on instagram except for views.
😂pinterestic! A New word😂 beauty standards for journals 🤔 interesting concept 😂😂
What a great 7 minute video!!! Amazing man... you bring a smile on the viewers with your narration. Congrats... and Enjoy your 5k run everyday!!! 😊👍👍👍
Nice. A lil less droopy, a lil less jiggly. That’s cool with me too. Thanks
I ❤ this video
Loved your video, it's simple and honest, Thanks for sharing.
:-)
This is an awesome video! Very pragmatic and self-effacing. Thank you! (PS Would love to live in Zurich! What do you do?)
Listening books, that's for little children in bed. You're not a runner, you need attention. Poor boy
lol you’re on UA-cam trying to shame people
Oh it's so good to hear from a runner that doesn't like running. I was wondering if I started if I could sustain it. I've used the "one decision' method with other things (I call them my non negotiables) and it makes life so much easier without the "Do I? Don't I?" But when it comes to exercise I keep getting derailed by injury and illness. How do you handle that? Great video btw. Really enjoyed it. **high fives Owen**
how much weight didnt lose??/
5k every day, you should be thin no matter what unless you force feed.
@@focusedstudying8993 RUNNING does more than what science claims trust me.
Diet is more consequential than exercise
@@andrewstager1378 must be slot of liquid calories. 5k everyday should keep you in a calorie deficit
@@mikedunmore5238 Nah. Eat enough bread and you'll never be in calorie deficit.
@@andrewstager1378 well you will have to be a better eater than runner 🤣
Switzerland is where I ate the best cheese… If you did not run your 5K daily, you would easily weight over 300 pounds by now! You are probably be the most honest guy on UA-cam!😉
Thanks for sharing! Great job keeping it consistent for so long. How long does the 5k take you on average if you mind me asking?
26-28 min
No offense, but i would expect you much slimmer. 5k is about 300 calories x 730 days is 219,000 or 63 lbs lost from running for 2 years
Have you heard of bread?
Really awesome and authentic video even with a script, I could tell how thoughtful it was.
How can you run so much and not have a runner's body??? Your dedication to bread and pizza must be something else to offset those 5K's everyday. Anyway, Bravo to you! You are lucky indeed to run in such beautiful places everyday!!!!
Because this is social media, run 5k everyday with that body he'll get injured before first week
I covered this in the video. I lived in Europe. I ate lots of bread. Anyone who knows anything about this knows that diet is far more consequential than exercise.
Omg i’m just like you ! But i started to run daily and it’s going good so far. I just need to now cut off my sugar addicition🤦🏼♀️
: D wow how different people are ... I basically do the same thing -> running and push-ups (and some sport that I actually enjoy but cannot do on a regular basis), but i get my motivation purely from observing improvement. I measure my runs exactly I have a big excel file where I record my resting pulse, my weight, my average puls vs speed during each run, my max push ups that I can do my chest circumference ... and much more ... Its like the need to fill that excel sheet that weighs more than the need to run and exercise ... for whatever reason... but I guess I will have to find a different modus operandi once I get older and my performance will decline (which already starts to happen, even though for endurance nature is more merciful) - but still: probably not so motivating to observe and document the decline in detail^^
Move to Switzerland and eat good food while drinking beer I see that sounds fun.
Your town is beautiful. Thanks for the inspirational video.
that's not my journal
Very inspiring, spread more of your experiences, if you’re still holding on! Greetings from a book and knit lover with a sometimes too inviting couch and reading chair in Germany, Monika❣
Good stuff, I’m 2-days in on a year challenge for charity!
