How to knit a doll hat
This is a how-to tutorial on knitting a doll hat and an entry for Rikkistar101's giveaway: ua-cam.com/video/EgIWEI5GHAk/v-deo.html
Recommended tools:
Yarn - any lace weight yarn (Malabrigo Lace used in video available here: yarnandknitting.com/product/malabrigo-lace/)
Needles - 2.25mm double pointed needles (or size needed to obtain desired gauge, available here: yarnandknitting.com/product/hiyahiya-double-pointed-needles-sharp-stainless-steel/)
Tapestry needle
Cable needle (or smaller double pointed needle)
Pompom maker (or thin card)
Brim pattern:
Cast on a multiple of 12 stitches (108 for MiniFee size) and divide across four needles (multiples of12 on each needle). I recommend using a long tail cast on to achieve a stretchy edge.
K2, P2 rib for as many rows needed to achieve desired length.
Cable pattern:
Row 1: *K2, P2, K6, P2 repeat from * around
Row 2: As row 1
Row 3: As row 1
Row 4: *K2, P2, C6B, P2 repeat from * around
Row 5: As row 1
Row 6: As row 1
Repeat cable pattern as many times as needed to achieve desired length.
Decrease Pattern:
Row 1: *K2tog, P2, SSK, K2tog, P2 repeat from * around
Row 2: *K1, P2, K4, P2 repeat from * around
Row 3: *K1, P2tog, K1, K2tog, K1, P2tog repeat from * around
Row 4: *K1, P1, K3, P1 repeat from * around
Row 5: *K1, K2tog repeat from * around
Row 6: Knit around
Row 7: K2tog around
Row 8: Knit around
Row 9: K2tog around
Cut yarn and pull through remaining stitches. Pull tight and thread through to inside. Weave in ends.
Block and add pompom, done!
Hope you enjoyed the video and found it useful. Sorry for my hands drifting off camera constantly! It's my first time making a video so feel free to leave me comments with tips and anything else you might like to see a video for!

So cute💖
I have been making this hat in every size from doll to adult! Thank you so much for this beautiful pattern! I just finished one for an American Girl Doll!
Wow, beautiful!!! Thank you!
Wow awesome but I want to make this for my daughter can you tell me the tutorial for a baby head
I love this! My daughter has a Pullip Doll. I would love to make this amazing hat for her. Thank you for sharing. So cute Great work!
Knitting newbie here and I'm really keen to give this a go for my little doll. Thank you for the tutorial! :)
What type of doll it is?
MSD fairyland minifee (42cm tall)
I wanted to do a people size hat. I casted on 108 stitches with DK weight yarn and 4.5 mm (7US) needles. The hat came out perfectly! Thanks for the pattern!
In your decrease round row 1 equals to 10 stitches in the 12 stitch segments. There are two extra stitches! R 1: (correction) K2tog, p2, SSK, K2, K2Tog, P2.
Wow
Your knitting skills are amazing but I just really want to know, where did you buy that doll? It's the prettiest one I ever seen. If you don't know Where you got it from, could you tell me the brand of the doll please?
The doll is called Minifee by the brand Fairyland. They are quite pricey.
Omg you are a knitting BEAST! That hat is adorable! ♡
I want this doll
I bought the set of those pom pom makers and there is one more smaller than the one you are using.
If I have to make an adult hat how many stitches would I cast on? Thank you. I really like your blocking method.
Calculate how many repeats you will need compared to your dolls head circumference
Make more doll videos please
Wow! Awesome tutorial. I hope you do more like this, it was an absolute joy to watch.
Very good tutorial! I just picked up some yarn and needles.... Perhaps I am overconfident but I feel like I can make this after watching your video. I have knit before but never really stuck to it (I'm a crochet girl) best of luck in your entry! I hope you win.
Holy crap! I did it!!!
so cute, love this vedio. I want to knit a hat or sweather for bjd dolls too. What is the size of the needle and yarn?
so cute how can we do for adult size? do plz a tutorial for making adults hat..thx
Use her gauging example and size it to your head instead of the doll size.
wow that looked very challenging to do, i guess if you know how to knit it might not seem so intimidating.. any chance you crochet and can do a a crochet hat tutorial?
I have posted this on your contest entry link and I will post it here too: Wow! What a wonderful job! I very much admire people who knit. I've tried many times but I get distracted and forget about the project. Your tutorial is very nicely done and by following your excellent instructions I almost think I could attempt it again! lol. I hope that you will continue to make videos you are a natural! <3 Thanks for your entry and good luck!
