Next door Pete Joiner has a lovely 8-9lbs common carp on the waggler fishing about 20mtrs out and it gave a good account of its self.

After the disaster of the knock up on Sunday i chose a peg with a cast to an island (what i did not have Sunday) And expect a few bites.

Well three and a half hours and not a bite through the warmest part of the day,home and a cuppa with the darts! As i walked to the car park as expected the anglers with a chuck to the island had caught a few carp and bream on the tip but not a fish caught on the pole. Winter fishing at its hardest guys!

Not a bite on all methods and now i am struggling to keep the pole from being snapped by flying branches! very few fish caught but i think the island swims will get a few bites in the middle of the match.

Disaster! I have drawn the worst peg on the lake in Winter.Very shallow and with no cast to an island (i feel that is where the fish will be) Still i will give it my best and see how we get on.

Due to storm Bert sweeping across the nation the fishery manager quite rightly cancelled the match as all the prizes could have got washed away! It will be held a little later in the month,we thought we would have a knock up knowing it would be tough after three sub zero nights!

The old boys were on the parade and it was day one of the cold spell with a hard frost the night before,wind was North West and the sea had very little colour so fish would be hard to find.Still i had a walk and a chat with the boys who deseverd a medal for being there!

It looked like Neil would be top rod with his proper bream but second spot will be tight with Alan Smith and Alan Cain both admitting to 30 small fish,several others had 20 so a bonus perch or bream could swing it for them!

I thought i would give my new camera a go (sorry for the poor sound) Did not read the manual properly! Far from the predicted weather though cold it was bright and sunny, most of the anglers were catching the expected small roach perch and skimmers but end peg Neil West on the end peg had found two proper bream and two big skimmers,that will take alot of catching up with the small fish i have s...

Pete's folat dipped under and when he lifted into the fish it was obvious it was a good one! The 2-4 elastic streamed out and a good fight ended in......The one that got away!

Pete shows us the importance of keeping the feed tight (but not with a catapult!) Now a few fish have found the bait and some nice bream come to the net

Having a chat with Pete we see just how the fishing changes with this season,gone are the small roach and rudd that in summer do not let the bait get to the bottom!

I thought i would have a walk around the lake as we have our xmas match in ten days,i see Pete Joiner is fishing so we will go and see how he is doing.
