    Like the song. Really loved seeing her at Ryman, back when I was real young. She was best comedienne, entertainer & remained my favorite. Her comedic talent was certainly natural, didn't need any scripts. Thru yrs, just as funny in conversations on talk shows. Of course, talented instrumentally as well as voice. RIP June Carter ,🌹

    Webb is great therapy for me! Jinx In Love now, and first, You Scared the Love Right Out of Me. I actually have felt this way and respect 🙏 Webb for taking on the sad side of life, outlandish though he might seem. He helps me laugh at sorrow and keep going on!

    One of the coolest and most honest songs I've ever heard! Webb does not try to pretty up the fact that love is not always gentle and healing ✨ indeed....it could get you gone before your time to go!

    This is the BEST version of Thirty-First Street Blues (31st St Blues) ever recorded! Bob & Tommy and the Texas Playboys captured the best of the hot rhythm of Fletcher Henderson's version as well as the Blues treatments from Clara Smith and Josie Miles, the unique Al Bernard & Frank M Kamplain version that alluded to the yodel part yet unrealized, as well as the Jimmie Rodgers influenced The Leake County Revelers version that instilled the yodeling parts. Bob & the boys distilled the best elements of all the other versions and brought it all together for one definitive statement that includes the best bits from all the important recordings of the song and in fact eclipses them all. I didn't mention Leon's Lonestar Cowboys version because frankly their take on the song didn't swing and was sadly lacking in the rhythm department and no wonder - the band didn't seem like they even were even vaguely familiar with the melody of the song at all - which they should have known since the song had been around for well over a decade before they butchered the song at their session in 1936.

    A couple of idiot writers wrote that Junior Barnard stole all of his guitar licks from Charlie Christian and or T-Bone Walker.... Horseshit! They don't have a clue!

    • @jerichothedrifter60
      @jerichothedrifter60 5 років тому

      T-bone, CC, Junior and Eldon Shamblin all worked at radio stations in the OK/TX Panhandle area in the 30s and all played gigs regionally. It's pretty plausible that they all knew each other, crossed paths with each other and stole each other's licks. More like a mutual admiration thing.

    • @CiscoDuck
      @CiscoDuck 3 роки тому

      @@jerichothedrifter60 Well, that's very presumptive that they knew each other. Charlie and T-Bone definitely knew each other and T-Bone owed a lot to Charlie in his early recordings. Eldon and Junior both knew each other as well but their playing is remarkably dissimilar. And neither one of them played any licks that can be traced back to Charlie or T-Bone! The proof is in the pudding. I have ALL of T-Bone and Charlie's known recorded output as well as everything ever released on record with Junior and Eldon (as well as a TON of recordings NEVER released to the public including transcriptions, live air shots from radio broadcasts from remote dances and in-studio radio shows, LIVE dances captured by people with recording devices) Junior's blues licks are from another vein than what Charlie or T-Bone ever played and Eldon's licks are more from the Eddie Lang school of thought rather than Charlie or anyone else for that matter. Just because someone is from a small geographical region at a place in time another person is doing something similar doesn't justify assuming that they both know each other and are sharing a mutual admiration for one another insomuch that they would copy each other. Again - the PROOF is in the pudding! Compare the recordings, compare the guitar solos. It doesn't add up to Junior stole from Charlie Christian OR T-Bone Walker. Junior's brother Gene readily admitted that HE borrowed heavily from Charlie as did Jimmy Wyble and Tiny Moore. Gene's live recordings from the Harley Huggins radio shows in Fresno during the mid 40's reveal HE absolutely copied Charlie as he said. He said that Junior was hearing something altogether different and couldn't be bothered with learning Charlie's licks. Assumption is the mother of all eff-ups!

    Tommy Duncan showing off what separated him from all the other western swing vocailists of the era or any other era for that matter.

  • @CiscoDuck
    @CiscoDuck 6 років тому

    With the GREAT Tommy Duncan on vocal. It doesn't get any better as far as Bob Wills music is concerned. He beat any singer Wills ever had or any western swing band leader for that matter. He was top notch in an era dominated by vocalists in the pop and Jazz fields like Bing Crosby & Frank Sinatra, Tommy was as recognizable as they were and just as commanding with an audience who knew who he was when he sang because he was instantly known the first word he sang on any song.

    What a pedal steel guitar break!!! He takes it to the third level. When you think it's over...It's Not! This is one of Webb's best. What amazing music by two people. A pedal steel and acoustic guitar, rag style. I wonder if that's Webb on rhythm guitar? It's strong.
