    Can I run my gas if I have a water separator, or should I siphon the gas out of my tank?

    • @captainjonsaltlife
      @captainjonsaltlife 6 днів тому

      @@alligator801 if you have moisture in the tank or this is a new boat that you just bought that I would drain the tank and put a flashlight in the fuel sending unit area after removing the fuel sending unit and look in the tank to see if you have any moisture. If you had the boat for a while no just a brand new fuel water separator will are be suffice let the filter would have to be changed constantly because it swells when water hits it. Thank you for subscribing I've been in a flood situation with our house got totaled and it's hard to get back to every customer please watch we've lost everything and contribute what you can thank you God bless

    Great video and I really enjoyed Watching it! I had a dead car battery since I left the parking lights on.. I have an old school battery charger from the 1970 's, so, interestingly , all I did was hook it up (after disconcerting the battery from the car) to the totally empty battery and slowly watch the amp meter on the charger, over a period of hours, go from 6 amps to about 2.5 amps indicating the battery was pretty much ready to go...and yes, the car started right up....the thing that I didn't have to do was trick the charger into charging a totally dead battery, like the new smart chargers seem to need as in the case of a totally dead battery, the old charger knew exactly what it needed to do with a totally dead battery...supply adequate DC current to charge the battery....I didn't have to jump through all the hoops needed to charge the battery like you apparently have to do when faced with a totally dead battery and a new smart charger, makes me wonder.

    Many of us won't have a full spare 12v car battery lying around. However, I have just learned that if you connect a standard 9v battery (like those used in smoke detectors) to the dead one (positive to positive, negative to negative), and then connect your 'smart' charger, it will be tricked into thinking that there is more voltage than the usual 7v threshold that smart chargers won't work below, and start charging your dead battery. Once charging starts, you can remove the 9v battery...

    Captain, you didn't really mean to sand those barnacles off did you? He will spend thousands on sandpaper alone. The proper and cheap way is to scrape them off, wearing gloves, with a spatula knife or long handled scraper. The barnacles will come off easily leaving a whitish ring. You can then sand the boat.

    To me a boat with blisters should be ignored and painted over. Blisters have never sank or makes a boat slower. A one inch round blister is superficial until you start grinding a gigantic scallop and practically going all the way through. Don't over think it..

    • @captainjonsaltlife
      @captainjonsaltlife 11 місяців тому

      Thank you markbailey6051 this boat had over 75 blisters and as boaters know water will separate the fibers then make a soft spot and sink boats. All boats even a container ship if this are let go to long will sink.

    That looks more like residue from the boot stripe not masking tape. But do not leave masking tape on for a long time either. Another option is to take all the extra crap off the boat and or move some heavy stuff forward and fill any tanks under the v-berth.

    Can't say how many times I have had to remove someones empty ice bag from my strainer. Kinda like problem in reverse. My tip, clear it with a blast from dingy foot pump through strainer

    Appreciate it im actually working on a fuel issue on a k-jetronic Porsche fuel setup from the 70s and I haven't considered that the amount of ethanol may be contributing some of the issues its having. I think this ethanol problem on older cars requires a special filter so ill look into seeing if theres one that works.
