ChatGPT to Help Write Lyrics - Bad Idea In My Opinion
An old man (that'd be me) muses about using computers to write lyrics. Helpful tool, or is it denying you the chance to say something unique? Depends on how you use it?
Here's the link to the video by Holly Exley that I referenced - you should watch it. It's really good.

    Mental illness ruined my career. I worked w kid rocks producer and hung out with Rob tyner from the mc5. He dug me! I’d appreciate if anyone would check my work out. Google “ traci, anti fashion, Detroit.” Or I have one punk pop song on UA-cam. Type in “anti fashion, war jazz” but it’s old school 90s alt rock. I relate to you brother! For me, music kept me sane, until it didn’t. It’s a shame mental illness ruins lives! Watch 6 schizophrenic brothers on max. Pretty eye opening. Lord willing, I will put out 4 new songs soon

    Man I have no idea how to do some of this stuff but I will say I want to get one of those gauges so I can stay on top of this. I just restrung my Les Paul Epiphone last week, same strings, ever since I got it same tuning as well except for one year I had in in standard but went back to D standard aka one step down. So I’m getting a slight ring from my Low E when doing chugging breakdowns so to speak. And I can’t get it to stop. I started adjusting my truss rod, and I’m sketched out. I don’t want to go any further it still sounds good looks like the right distance as you specified but I need one of those gauges definitely in the future. To make sure it’s Perfect or as close as can be. It’s a custom Peter Frampton Les Paul and I love this guitar as it was a gift from my wife and only 900 were made lol but it’s my first Les Paul. And I love it dearly. At first I thought it was something to with action, or intonation. But I’m not sure. It’s not buzzing on any frets at all it’s just this annoying harmonic that Rings a little with those open E chugs. My guitar tech lives a few hours away but he’s working on another guitar for me. And I’m definitely going to bring this to him hopefully in the next week. Any ideas what this could be ?? Meaning the harmonic sound ??

    I'm really glad that you did this comparison. As I mentioned in another post, about a week ago I bought a circa 1985 Fender American Standard Stratocaster in a very nice three color sunburst finish from a close, elderly friend. It's my first pro guitar, and it's a real honey. It's all original and in excellent condition.😻 Some might say that it looks new. David Gilmour once said that you can tell if a Strat sounds good by just strumming it without connecting it to an amp. That's the feeling I got when I strummed it without plugging it in. It just rang out nicely. When I plugged it in, there was that really nice "sparkle" you talked about. It's a pleasure to play it. Having a less expensive Strat is a good idea. It'll save wear on the Fender Strat. Rather than a Squier, I would probably go with a PRS SE Silver Sky Strat style guitar; I realize that it's a pricier guitar, but it's a lot cheaper than a Fender American Strat. Cheers and keep strumming! 🎸🎸🎸

    You know, this is totally unrelated to my video here, but... suddenly, whenever I post any comments, UA-cam has decided to change my name to some big random string of numbers and letters instead of "budgetguitarist.com". The interesting thing is that even though UA-cam makes money off of the ad revenue for channels like mine, if you have a problem like this, you can't reach out them. They are entirely unaccountable. • @budgetguitarist
      @budgetguitarist 26 днів тому

      It's tough to have a music channel and get subscribers. I could put out my best song ever and get 80 people to watch it. But I put out a video on how to make your own CD and over 60 thousand people saw it. Age is part of it, but even if you and I were in our 20s, we'd still be competing with the entire history of recorded music, from The Beatles through Taylor Swift. No one can compete with the best songs ever recorded. Being a successful original musician is a lot about image and marketing. So I measure the success of my songs based on how good I think they are, not how many people like them. I could get more people to like my music if I spent a hundred grand a year on marketing, but why?

    As someone who is learning how to be a good musician, I find this topic to be quite interesting. Music used to be an art form; now it's an industry designed to maximize profit. As a result, the art has suffered very badly. It's about the look, the connections, and the money, just like politics. Really good musicians should form their own independent bands and play the music they love that corresponds to their philosophies and values. Some young artists are wise to how the music industry is a kind of meat grinder and how they can lose creative control of their art. Larkin Poe is one notable band making high quality, exciting music as an independent band with full creative control of their music. Oliver Anthony, who wrote sensational hit Rich Men North of Richmond is another example. He was offered a ton of money to sign with major record labels. He refused all of the offers and is now pursuing his music independently with the proceeds going to help people learn how to live a better life. I'd be happy to play some blues covers and other covers at a coffee house with a resonator guitar and talk about the importance of the songs I'm playing. I could tell a story of how I walked into San Quentin State Prison's gas chamber and walked out alive (true story) and then play Merle Haggard's Sing Me Back Home.

      I really like the idea of buying tools at a level you can afford and based on how often they'll be used. A lot of times some of the basic tools you use to fix other things can make-up a part of your guitar servicing tool kit. I have a nice electrical test meter that I use for all kinds of things, and it comes in handy for testing guitar controls, guitar ground faults, and even for troubleshooting/testing amps. You can save even more money with multi-purpose tools. 👍

      @@audiophileman7047 I had a couple of very cheap soldering irons that I’ve probably used twice a year or less for over a decade. Went to Home Depot to buy some new tips to install a PUP last night. The 3 pack of tips was $13; a new soldering station with adjustable temp/wattage for $45. I’m kicking myself in the head for not buying this one from the start. Probably saved me a 1/2 hour of soldering just one pickup. It was like using butter as solder.

      @@budgetguitarist My meter purchase decision involved a lot of research. I wanted something I could use for automotive, electronics, HVAC, and other electrical servicing. The closest I could get for the accuracy I need is a meter designed for servicing cars and trucks. I need a second meter with the clamp style probe to conveniently measure current and get everything I need. For the purposes of working on guitars and related equipment, a budget meter is perfectly fine and more affordable. It's such a great tool. When you get one, you just can't imagine living without one.👍👍👍

    Nice job! If you still lived in NY, I’d be trying to talk you into a ‘guitar-setup-for-burritos’ bartering system….

      It seems to be a humorous comment, but these days food is becoming a very valuable commodity. You can call me just about anything you want, but just don't call me late for dinner (burritos). My wife just informed me that we're having Chile Verde for dinner tonight, and she's cooking. 👍

    I've been playing on a Pao Ferro neck on my Strat and my Fender Fretless J bass! Have nothing bad to say about Pao Ferro! I also have a Squier Affinity Telecaster maple neck, and I love that one too but I want to swap the neck later for a Fender Telecaster US neck still in maple. The Fender Fretless J bass will keep its Pao Ferro because I'm pretty happy with that neck! I've ordered a Fender Professional II scalloped neck, Rosewood that I'm putting on my Stratocaster. Not because I don't like the Pao Ferro, but I love Rosewood and I wanted a scalloped fretboard! It had some delivery time but I might get it in mid of September! I can't wait! I will still use the Pao Ferro neck thought but I'll put it on a cheap LA guitar4music guitar I bought just to have a guitar to toy with, and to be honest that guitar is probably going to sound and look more like a Fender because I already swapped the pickups it came with and replaced them with my Stratocaster pickups when I bought Seymore Duncan and DiMarzio pickups for my Strat! Also buying Fender locking tuners for it when I'm swapping to Fender neck on that, but only temp, since those locking tuners will end up on the Squier when I buy a US tellie neck! My Squier also sound awesome, having DiMarzio Chopper bridge pickup! The neck pickup it came with actually sound pretty nice, but I intend to swap that too later either a Fast Track, Twang King or maybe a Little 59' 😛 I placed the Fender Strat tuners on my Squier which means I had do hand drill new plug holes to make them fit because the measurement on the Squier tuner and Fender is not the same. turned out great! When I've swapped the neck on it, the cheap guitar will no longer have the locking tuners as they will go on the US Fender neck and the cheap guitar inherits the Strat tuners going back to the neck they originally came with! Not a luthier, just self taught and crazy enough to void the warranty on my guitars, but all the parts and components and electronics I've swapped out has its own warranty on 5 years when I buy so technically my guitars never lost warranty except for the body, the input jack and the pickup switch! Everything else like the squier bridge will be swapped to US bridge, US 3 point saddles! The Stratocaster will still have the Tremolo bridge and saddles it came with though and don't see any point of swapping the tremolo bridge because it's good enough as is 😀 I guess I'm a little crazy doing all this but I just love making my guitars as personal as possible! The fretless bass on the other hand I wont do much with, maybe just swap the 2 pickups with EMG-J or Fender Noisless pickups! Not sure if Ill swap the electronics in that one, but my Strat has gone from 250K pots to Fenders 500K pots, and the Squier will later also have 500K pots, not sure if I'm gonna buy Fender pots or Seymore Duncan pots to the Squier, have not decided yet! 😀

    Good morning, thank you for making the very informative video. I'm not clear on one step, can the white fx/aux 2 knob handle both functions at the same time? Let me explain: if there are monitors connected to the aux2 output on stage and I operate the white knob, do I raise/lower the channel signal or increase/decrease the effect? I understood that I can only route the effect to the aux1 output. I hope I have explained myself clearly and thank you in advance for your reply.
