The Easter Egg. Symbol of Death and Resurrection
Переглядів 152Місяць тому
Praying with Icons. Windows into Heaven. Growing in Our Friendship with Christ. Easter. Death. Resurrection. Easter Eggs. Easter eggs, in one sense, can be likened to icons in that they are full of colour and meaning and open us up to God’s love and presence. Long ago, it was the custom for people to place eggs on the graves of their family members and friends. Just as a baby chick is born from...

The more I listen to Roman Catholics, the more I see the arguments from the Orthodox perspective. Basically, the Pope is the Chruch, and Peter was greater than Christ. That's what I get.

Come to the Catholic church and meet Jesus Christ for the first time. He loves you and wants you to be part of the one and only Church that He founded. No other “church” in all of history was founded by Jesus Christ Himself except the Catholic Church. “You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. What you bind on earth is bound in heaven, what you loose on earth is loosed in heaven.”

I love this I attended a Ukrainian catholic church by accident a few weeks ago I grew up Roman catholic and left my faith all together as a child. Our lady called me back in a miraculous way as an adult now that I am in my 30s and of course I've been going to Roman catholic churches I had no idea about byzantine catholic churches. It was the most beautiful mass I had ever attended after being gone so long away from God this was the most fulfilling mass I had ever attended I just copied everyone around me because of course I didn't know what I was doing but the bowing down to my knees with my head to the floor was the most humbled I had felt in God's presence everything about it felt right.

Eastern Catholics start 2 days earlier (Monday instead of Ash Wednesday) than Roman Catholics. Both end the same day (Easter Sunday). Also goes without saying the eastern Catholics have kept their fast and abstaining more strict than the post Vatican 2 recommendations…My fiancé is Eastern Catholic.

Father. 3:33 Jesus is the word right? He was with the Father during Creation. In the beginning was the word and the word was with God…….so is it Safe to say Jesus is the Father of the Virgin Mary?? Is it safe to say Jesus sent Gabriel to tell her she would give birth to our Savior???

Firstly, thank you for the video... it is quite interesting. I was raised Greek Orthodox and instantly recognized the Ukrainian catholic church as an appropriation of the byzantine style church, up to and including the icons, the separation of the altar behind the decorated frontal piece, the fact that they co-mingle the eucharist and use leavened bread. the priest faces the altar instead of the congregation and the red carpet (to hide any spilled sacramental wine). The vestments in the pictures shown are also very byzantine, down to the 'hat'... the only real difference is that you are in communion with Rome as opposed to your fellow byzantines/orthodox brethren. I find hypocritical when you said near the very end of the video that you can put aside your differences to work together even though you have had issues in the past... but this is NOT true of your orthodox brethren, now is it? You have been out of communion since 1035... hahahaha... and the breathing with both lungs does not just mean the west and east CATHOLICS.. it means the east and west churches. I also found it completely hypocritical and downright cringeworthy when the roman catholic priest spoke of how well the RCC has dealt with the First Nations people of Canada... and how your brought your godling to them... is that what the residential schools was all about, bringing your love and respect and god to those poor people? How many are we up to now?? 4100 is the current number. 4100 children documented, so far, to have died in the residential school program... the majority of which were catholic run and administered. And yet, you have the audacity to claim that you did well with the First Nations people? I guess priests are allowed to break the commandment about bearing false witness?? I wonder how many of those children were sexually abused before they died? Hmmmmmmm? I guess we'll never know... too bad there is no good and convincing evidence that your god and your hell exist... as I think hell would have a priest overpopulation there. And lastly, alas, the RC priest is ostensibly celibate... he is a hot specimen of manhood and his mythological god seems to have endowed him with plenty of sausage and potatoes.... (evil leer)... Pax....

I would like to thank the parish and this wonderful choir for posting this mass. My Mom had a massive stroke a few years ago and passed away two nights ago. Every night for the last few visits I played this in it's entirety for her as she withered away dying. My Mom was one of the beautiful voices in the St. Nicholas Ukrainian church choir in Winnipeg for many, many years. This mass gave her some solace. A couple of days before she went with God, she actually was able to clasp her withered hands in prayer as she gazed upwards. I had nothing better to give her in these final days and hours. Just over two hours before she passed she listened to this mass for the final time. She really recognized much of this mass and the hymns which she had sung thousands of times. Again, thank you. May God Bless.

Stolen Christmas, stolen and denazified by Epiphany and Svyatoslav according to Putin's plan. Traditions and language are the basis of the ethnicity of Ukrainian-speaking Ukrainians, by destroying them we will also destroy the momentum of our nation. The permanence of natural phenomena and the solstice are not identical. You can change the climate, but the constancy of the natural phenomenon (DNA) has not changed for 2000 years. Epiphany and Svyatoslav implemented Putin's plan to de-Nazify Ukrainians by moving the holidays back two weeks. Ethnicity of a nation is based on two components, these are traditions and language. Why did the Slavs accept Christianity - because there was an opportunity to learn new knowledge with the help of writing and science. The development of civilization has always been connected with the development of external information carriers (books,...). What development of knowledge do you get after forgetting your traditions? Will the shifted dates bring us more knowledge, what is the benefit to us from shifting the celebrations - this is not a benefit, it is denazification of ourselves. The higher clergy embodies Putin's plan to de-Nazify Ukraine.

It is a so heartbreaking and sad Christians killing other Christian’s this goes against the very teaching of Christ. My prayers are for all the people and souls in both countries that are involved in this horrendous war. People never learn it is the young people and common citizens who at the behest of old men in government who are responsible for all this killing of human life. I pray for peace and forgiveness. God please forgive them for what they have done. The sacred music is just beautiful let it help us to life our hearts and minds to God.🙏🙏🙏🙏

I am a Latin Rite Catholic depending on which parish church you attend the Mass can be very different as far as chant, if you get a priest that chants well and instills the sense of the sacred during Mass this can really influence the congregation. There are some Latin Rite Churches that have been infiltrated with “ Protestantism” style church service for lack of a better description. ( This was accomplished by the stripping of the art, guitar music ect… you should not change the style of the Mass for fear of losing people. I am considering moving over to the Byzantine Rite of the Church simply because they have kept the altar area separated by the iconoclastic screen this portrays and shows that this is a sacred area and not to be taken for the “ common” area where any and all are permitted. When I walk into a church I want to know that I am leaving the secular world behind and walking into a holy place not some auditorium like the preachers you see on TV

I'm in RCIA and thinking of doing the same. When I first inquired into Catholicism I was living in an area that had a few TLMs and very reverent NO masses nearby. Now where I live it is much different. I can barely tell my parish mass from the protestant church down the street. And everytime I go to mass I see the thurible sitting in the corner and collecting dust like it's a long forgotten artifact because the priest would rather not use it. There is a UGCC about a 30 minute drive from me, and I am strongly considering joining it instead once I get my vehicle situation sorted again.
