I got all that, thanks heaps! Keen to give it a go next week
Bromoil. It's strangely overlooked.
Hey guys, is there any way to get in contact with David?
I really need to save up to be able to take David's course if he offers ones in the future.
You just need a neg with a full range of tones. It ain't rocket science. It's all down to the film used and the subject taken. Papers are a different matter - some work and some don't. Depends on the surface and any 'pre-hardening' in the emulsion. People make Bromoil sound complicated - it isn't!
thanks for this! would love the link to the digitial neg chat that meghan mentioned. Thank you😀
Sure thing, the group is called "Digital Negatives for Contact Printing"
Thank you for this. I have been wanting to learn bromoil for a while, so I appreciate it

Thanks so much for this. I’m just gathering the materials to try out the bromoil process so this was super helpful.
what is the pressure of your application with the roller?
Light pressure. If you push down too hard you will get lines in the print.
thank you! am getting nice results now :). Quick question regarding the temp of the Gelatin: I have found that when my Gelatin gets hotter than 80 F it doesnt harden well. I am located in a warm climate in Southern CA. I also have to add ice cubes to my water bath from the tap since the water here is tepid. Any thoughts about the Gelatin or your reasons for heating it so much? Many thanks!
Thanks for sharing this. What do you use for your metal plates? Also, for your car magnet sheets, how thick is it?
I bought a couple of these. www.amazon.com/17-5-11-5-Magnetic-Board-Bulletin/dp/B01KGS6M1Q/
@@bromoilandoilgroup8043 Thanks for the link. I also make 8x20 prints, so I will have to find a bigger version of the board too. Any tips on the car magnet sheets that you are using? That is a really good idea. Every review I read on the car magnets is pretty bad, so hopefully you can share what you have found to work.
