A surprisingly mild and (almost) sunny day yesterday for a sail with Adrian Geary on our odd little boat 'Lancia'. I've wanted to get some drone footage all summer but was nervous of launching from such a constrained space. Anyway, conditions were perfect yesterday - a stunning day on the Solent - so we slowed the boat down and launched the drone. Now, just need to work out how to do it again with the spinnaker flying! Oh, and for the sailing critics amongst you - yes, I know my jib trimming is shameful but I was a bit preoccupied with, you know, not crashing the drone!
If you're interested, 'Lancia' is a one-off Intrigue 8.8 built on the Isle of Wight. Based loosely on a John Swarbrick designed JS9000 (with hints of the mid 80's Americas Cup 'Kookabura' series of boats). She's 1050kg, 8.8m long with a 2m bulb keel and a 1.8m shooting bowsprit. So, there you go - she's definitely NOT half a catamaran!!
