The one saving grace is at least it was quick. Knocked unconscious immediately by the wheel and never regained consciousness, declared brain dead upon reaching the hospital. If you're going to go there aren't many better ways than instantly while doing something you love.

I remember watching this live. So sad I was so happy for him snagging a podium in the previous race for it to all end in the next race so cruel. It just doesn’t cross your mind you just want to prayer everything goes alright and you enjoy the racing. But sometimes the horrible side of motorsports happens. I’m glad motorsports have learned from these terrible and tragic incidents to invent new ways to safe drivers lives.

What a misfortune! Poor unlucky guy...halo would have certainly saved him. And I think of John Surtees: a great champion who ran and won driving the most dangerous cars and bikes, during the most dangerous race age. He defeated the Black Lady...just to loose a beloved son of nearly 19. A cruel fate indeed.

So for the ppl that didnt see. The wheel from the first crash car jumped up, on the second (yellowblue) car and hit the head killing him.

Same similar accident with Justin Wilson -who went from F1 to Indy car. Debris from the car hit his head

Even slowed down to 0.25X speed it still moving fast. The helmet offered little protection here. Freak accident.
