@@Tachyon836 the f80 is very good for the backroads, the m cars do corners very well the S55 motor just comes with its issues, it’s easier to enjoy a b58 without any issues

The 340 just had weird things when it was fully off it still held me partly because of the open diff partly because I feel like even fully off it didn’t wanna let me go

It’s been great, I’m coming up on 90k miles now and it’s been dead reliable, I just do oil changes every 5k miles and spark plugs every 25k miles. I have a Pure800 turbo, an upgraded High pressure fuel pump, and a downpipe! Love the car, very comfy as well

It automatically does it, I also have XHP stage 3 transmission tune so it rev matches a little more aggressive than stock

Yeah it the stock transmission. The tune removes the tourque limiters on it and increases shift speed. The stock trans in the 340 can handle close to 700 before you start slipping 6th gear. I’ve had no issues with mine what so ever

if you're going for power it'd be an amazing upgrade those things are so easy to push power on, if you want a better driving experience (not just straight line) then a f80 m3 would be a perfect choice. That being said you need crankhub and chargepipes on a f80, but no reliability mods for the new m340 not even chargepipe. End of the day Its personal preference, I would probably go f80 because i'm done with power. Also with the new m340 you couldn't mod it or else you'd void the warranty.

I’ve just spoken on personal experience, a have a friend that has a built bottom end because his spun. And it isn’t less than 1% I would do some fact checking on that stat. At the end of the day if you’re planning on building power from a S55, when your money is on the line you’re going to get the Crankhub done, because there have been instances of it going and you don’t want to be the one with a blown bottom end costing much more than a upgraded hub. When you build your daily you want it to be reliable, worry free, and consistent. that can’t be done without the peace of mind you would get with an upgraded hub

Correct unfortunately other than the ZHP models in America the f30 does not come with a LSD

The b58 is actually really good with heat soaking. The heat soaking problems are in the n55 where you’d lose 50hp after doing a few pulls. I also let the car coast after a pull so it’s getting a lot of air rammed into the front grille just so it’s at an ideal temp

Thanks for the comment! And yeah man that’s insanely common. Just go under the car and see anywhere the exhaust may be coming into contact with the heat shield and start banging it about.

Yeah man the power train is the sauce. BMW did well making it fun stock and the aftermarket did well keeping that fun power train no matter what mods you throw at it

Reached knock threshold on 93 octane

@@tv340i What were your mods? I am b58 as well and have never heard of this

Hybrid turbo with supporting mods, the knock threshold of 93 was reached on that revision (tuner won’t know what it is until it’s hit or damn close to it), the motor basically cut all the injectors to save itself from blowing on a pre detonation. It’s not a “problem” per say or a reliability issue or anything of the sort, it’s just something that may happen dialing in your tune!
