Waterfalls on Newland Beck - Landscape Photography
I stay local and head to Newlands Beck to capture images of the waterfalls & cascades.
Following my big walk on the last video I looked for something a little easier and would fit in the time I had. I decided to head to Newlands Beck to capture images of the falls & cascades on the beck. I did a similar video over two years ago (ua-cam.com/video/e78viEOoLFU/v-deo.html) but it was quite short. Hopefully this will be more informative.

Great photos, early Autumn colours looking ideal, especially with the Rowan berries. I've walked down that path once but after a long day and didn't take any photos. A tilt shift lens is great for panos (vertical and horizontal) - only problem is they're chuffin' expensive!

My favorite conditions for waterfall photography. Mostly cloudy or overcast. I will shoot taller falls in a vertical or "vertorama" if the surrounding area is not so interesting. Thanks for sharing

That was a grand day out! Made me think about the amount of gear to take for trips where I'm walking long distances or steep climbs. Tendency to take too many lenses just in case then never use half of them..... and the weight can become very significant😆. Great ridge walking up there and there's nothing wrong with resting your eyes for a while in conditions like that. I thought that the pano composition with the drystone wall at 0930 looked really good.

I have to say that when you outlined your intended route in your intro, I was immediately struck by the enormity of the task - not least because it included walking practically the length of Ennerdale (and back) as well. No disrespect, but that would be a real schlep for a twenty-year old. Great effort though, and lovely images again.

That was a fair old walk and I think that you did well with the light conditions. One thing that I've learnt being a solo walker is to know your limits - you can have a goal but pushing on regardless is not a good thing. It's always better to get down and give a go another day. Great to see you back on your home ground. Thanks for the video.

Of the four pillbox and castle images I think that I prefer the first one. I agree with you about height, even raising or lowering your tripod by just one section can have a dramatic effect on your image. When I look for the best spot to take an image from I try to also vary the height at which I am looking. Thanks for the video.

There are so many becks etc. with cascades and waterfall. The knack I am getting to understand is going when the light is suitable but also when the amount of water coming down is good. The weather in the Lake District does mean that the amount of water can change quite a bit from one moment to much then can quickly go to not enough. I hit is right on this one.

One of my favourite places especially in autumn, in fact my current desktop background image is an autumnal images taken from above the larger of the two reservoirs. It's a little bit more popular now with photographers since the advent of vlogging I think. Thanks for the video. Cheers.

The dog walkers are better off letting the dog shite on the edge of the path and flicking it away so that it can rot rather than putting it in a bag then leaving it hanging off a branch or fence so that it does not rot so easily and the bag looks unsightly hanging there, maybe they think putting it in a bag makes them environmentally friendly and that a shite fairy comes and takes it away and why do peple throw their plastic drink bottles on the ground as the bottle weighs next to nothing when it is empty, it,s a lot heavier to carry when it is full so you would think they would have the strength to carry it back to the car etc and then they could dispose of the item in in the bin, remember mum or dad are not always there to clear up after you and would be more proud of you if they knew you was doing your bit to keep this country of ours cleaner. Better still take it in a reusable container, saving on the waste. You go to enjoy the walk and scenery so leaving no waste means that when you go back, it will still look as nice and not an eyesore with rubbish everywhere.

Couple of nice images from the beach. You don’t see too many of the rock stack because I think people just concentrate on the wheels at that location. Nice use of a longer focal length too when photographing the wheels, just a little bit different and I think it worked out well; the ones after breakfast I think were better with the higher water level.
