Bad Weather, Good Images - Landscape Photography
Here I head up Deepdale hoping to get some good images despite the poor weather forecast..
The only day I could get out with the camera had a poor weather forecast. I had recently seen some inspiring images from Deepdale. Thus I head out to deepdale with the camera in search of images despite the weather.

Out Again, is it the Walk or is it the Photography - Landscape Photography
Переглядів 455День тому
Here I go out and discuss why I go out. Is the main impetus the walk in the fells or is it to capture images with the camera. I am a member of The 617 Club. This is an on-line club set up by Simon Baxter and Thomas Heaton. The other night there was a presentation by Eric Bennett. One question that was raised was what would you do if you stopped doing photography and I discuss this for me in thi...
Blending Shutter Speeds to get the Desired Image - Landscape Photography

Here I go out and get images of different shutter speeds and then blend them together to get the desired image. In a recent video (ua-cam.com/video/-CQJkgyYk7I/v-deo.html) one of the images was a blended image. I got questions about the image, what it was and how did I do it. I thus decided to go out to get more similar images and show how I get the final blended image. Gear I use making these ...

Exploring Whorneyside Force (a new waterfall) - Landscape Photography

Given the flat weather I decide to head to a waterfall. Having not been to Whorneyside Force I go and explore this waterfall. The weather continues to remain flat and overcast at the moment. This is the first time I've visited your channel. Subscribed! You're so lucky to live in such a beautiful place. I suspect the landscape changes character with the seasons and the moods of the weather. Endless opportunities for photography. That last image looked for all the world like a volcanic eruption! As for walking and photography, for me it's a matter of striking a balance. I don't make photography the reason I'm walking, but I always keep photo opportunities in the back of my mind if I happen across something interesting.

    It's easy to decide for me. If I had no camera for photography I would still go out and walk in nature, but if I couldn't go out and walk, then no camera would be needed, the photography is just a bonus of the walking.

    Just for those that don't know the area, at 10m 30 sec you go from the weir up the path to the right .. over the wall and onto the path that leads to Buckstones Jump, (which by the way on the OS map is Buckstones Jum - some one forgot to type the P :) ) . As you start on this path, a couple of hundred yars in there is a path off to the left that leads you back down to the beck. Once you get to the beck there's a path that leads up to BJ. There are at least 6 really decent waterfalls along this path and one VERy big one. Really loved the video and I'm def going to give this blending a go - many thanks

      Thank you so much for commenting. On the day I was there I did not have a huge amount of time before sunset so just headed straight for Buckstones Jump but did notice there was quite a bit of white water on the beck. I must go back sometime and explore that part of the beck. Both the paper OS map I have and the on-line one have the 'P'. Maybe you have an older copy and someone has contacted OS and they have corrected it.

    You could blend based on different aputures as well, though I suppose the depth of focus might differ some. Finally you could adjust ISO as well, though it seems many pros don't like to be much above 100 for landscapes.

    • @keswicklimeyphotography
      @keswicklimeyphotography 15 днів тому

      Yes you can blend images based on any criteria that affects the look of the image, e.g. focus stacking. Note that the images I blended were based on the effect of the shutter speed. However, to get the differing shutter speeds images also had different ISO, aperture or use of filters but those items, in my opinion, made little difference to the images compared to the shutter speed.

      @@keswicklimeyphotography I understand you reluctance, however, I feel that most photography presents an idealised view which is why editing is a thing in the first place. Are you crossing private property to get to these locations?

    • @keswicklimeyphotography
      @keswicklimeyphotography Місяць тому

      The simple answer is probably yes but it is not that simple. I England there are two bits that impact on this. Firstly that are public rights of way. These have existed for many years and give people the right to walk over private land but must keep to the designated paths. Then in 2000 the Right to Roam came into being. This covers about 10% of land in England and Wales. This means that if it is public access land you don't have to stick to designated paths even if it is private property. "Access land includes mountains, moors, heaths and downs that are privately owned." So does not apply to farm land etc. I hope that helps.

      @@keswicklimeyphotography Thank you for the info.. In the states "trespassing" on private property can cause problems. We have apps available that clearly mark the private property that may be located within a government or publicly owned tract so that one doesn't wander onto it, however of course, some choose to not follow the law..

    • @keswicklimeyphotography
      @keswicklimeyphotography Місяць тому

      Here in the UK all land is owned by somebody and this can go back years hence the development of rights of way. Even here in the Lake District the land is owned by someone even the large rugged mountains. A lot of the land is owned by the National Trust, a large charity set up over 100 years ago.
