      @@Ryanlbs Well yes, eco mode does dramatically numb the throttle response on the lower half of the pedal travel, but it also ramps up at the end of the travel to make up for it. Eco mode also causes the AC compressor to stay off longer between cycles, which does cause cabin temperatures to fluctuate more, and it shouldn't be controversial that the AC compressor robs horsepower when it's on. At wide open throttle, the AC compressor is switched off anyway, so again, you only notice the difference at part throttle.

  • @billwylde4846
    @billwylde4846 2 місяці тому

    I had 2018 Honda Civic LX sedan with the K20C2 and the six speed manual. An under powered engine with ECO mode active is a bad mix. The dumbed down throttle response and the steep hilly roads killed my fuel economy. It takes longer for my vehicle to get up to speed when I drove spiritedly with ECO mode on. These reasons are why I turned ECO mode off. I even drove with the A/C on and off in the mix to see how my vehicle operated. ECO mode is not effective unless you are maintaining a speed of 35 MPH for a very long time.

      Econ dulls throttle response and increases the AC compressor cycle length. At full throttle (which this video was done with) the throttle valve is opened all the way and the AC compressor is switched off anyway. Eco mode makes no difference on this car.

    • @Grafyte
      @Grafyte 5 місяців тому

      The VX is the fuel economy oriented model, however, the CX and VX share the same transaxle. Since the CX has the 8 valve engine, it is tuned to have prodigious torque under 3000 rpm, however that comes at great expense of power beyond 3000. This car drives just like a diesel, but quieter, lighter, and obviously cleaner.

    People like you drive me nuts. You are hogging enough road for three semi trailers. Stay in the flow of traffic with a normal spacing between you and the car in front of you and people won’t pass you. Newsflash: they don’t know you, they cannot read your mind. They think you are driving strangely and they want you behind them rather than in front of them. It’s natural what they are doing in response to your inexplicable use of the road.

    • @Grafyte
      @Grafyte 6 місяців тому

      Hogging road? Where are cars going to go? Clips 1 and 4 involve traffic dense enough to pull the average speed of travel down to a near crawl. What difference does it make if you go 50 mph for 10 seconds and stop and wait for 45 seconds or go 10 mph for 50 seconds and stop and wait for for 5 seconds? Your average speed is the same regardless. Just because you can use more fuel and wear your brakes more doesn't mean you should. I'm not a braindead driver just paying to attention to the car directly in front me.

    • @David-ic4by
      @David-ic4by 6 місяців тому

      @@Grafyte The very nature of both photography and videography is selectivity, whether you say you are editing or not. So no one knows what was going on except you and the other drivers. That said, my response is this: if at any point you are intentionally slowing down--whether continually or temporally/sporadically--to create extra space between you and the car in front of you while others are behind you, that's rude and hogging more space than you should be using. This is most definitely NOT about "average speed." I repeat: they don't know you or why you are driving that way anymore than you know why they want to get around you--I suspect they are on the road because they want to get somewhere and not because they want to make videos for UA-cam. I've been caught behind your kind before, and just getting around you is a relief, and if it doesn't make a difference at this light, it usually will by the next.

    The kickdown seems fine, the engine doesn’t really seem to pull tho. You were already near 50mph yet needed 5-6 sec to reach 60. Maybe you were towing? Else you might need some maintenance like oil and air filter. I don’t think a 2.4 should be that slow.

    • @surena9451
      @surena9451 7 місяців тому

      I just checked and it seems your engine comes with 140hp stock. A simple chiptune unlocks additional 30hp. Damn Volvo was conservative with pushing the engine. Audis with the 2.4 (although v6) from 2008 or earlier are 170-177hp which I expected from the Volvo as well. Even the Toyota 2.4 comes with around 150hp stock.

    • @Grafyte
      @Grafyte 7 місяців тому

      Nope. Not towing. Doesn't need any maintenance. I've taken to 3 different shops and they all say it runs perfect, and it kinda does. Smooth as silk from idle to redline. Has all new plugs, coils, air filter, oil, filters, all that stuff. It's the 168 hp version too, 20v. At worst it has a clogged catalytic converter that chokes the engine at high rpm, or it has a faulty MAF sensor that doesn't allow enough fuel to get into the engine at high rpm. Below 3000 rpm it's perfect. Gets good mpg too, 34-36 mpg US in summer and 29-31 in winter. After 5000 rpm the fuel flow actually drops which is how I deduced the aforementioned issues.

    • @surena9451
      @surena9451 7 місяців тому

      @@Grafyte I don't know man. It kinda felt slow. If you think the MAF sensor or anything in the emissions system is to blame (except physical clogs), you could just disconnect the MAF sensor temporarily. Engine light will turn on and the car will essentially drive in constant open loop but you can test that way for free and cross that off your list if that isn't the culprit.
