Would love to see a process of your sterile exercise prep for lc/syringe/agar inoculation and also substrate prep routine to transfer in to tub tobmake sure it s a confident clean transfer, like a how to be sterile routine videon
And how would I do it if I use coconut hair as substrate? Would I pour some distilled water like you showed us for the grain?
instructions uclear, my bird caught me sucking off my monotub
No fisting? 1:03:29 what are we talking about?😅 Focus.😂
Thank you for caring enough to post content like this. ❤.
You are most welcome, my brother! Thank you for leaving a comment.
An hour long perfect video: loved every minute of it. Thank you sir!
Guys think logically... any growing room requires high levels of humidity... now think about life expectancy of that living room rated air purifier in that environment.
It’s fine. The filters are cheap. I have several going and they’ve drastically reduced the airborne contamination. If that worried change the filter once a month.
Thanks for commenting Soul, using a heap air purifier is intended for the stage before fruiting your mushrooms. Mainly used during the inoculation stages. Leo
My Kung-fu is no better than your Kung-fu. I have been called Gruff by my boss back in the day. These now 3 or 4 month's. Bags fails 5 times. Now 5 × rich around me. Doubling down . I put 5 × more in. I'm hooked. 7 shoe boxes. 2 tubs. Hempa filter air . Dark box with 6 bags. Fun is fun
Seems like getting the inoculant fully blended in the first place is the best option. No shaking required!
Eeeh, don't do this stuff in a room with carpet. 50% RH is enough to get dust mites growing, and anything above that risks mould as well. Carpet is the perfect place for those! And if it's a new carpet that hasn't finished outgassing, then it's going to be busy outgassing the insecticides and fungicides the manufacturer filled it with to try to stop it rotting and breeding moths, and that's not going to be good for you or your mushroom crop either.
Hoovering your carpet is adequate enough + using a heap air purifier has worked well for me over the years. Not everyone will have the perfect sterile conditions. Thank you for dropping a comment my brother, Leo
400 cubic metres per hour doesn't mean that it will completely clean a room of that volume in an hour, though. As the clean air blows out of the machine, it mixes with the remaining dirty air in the room. The "dirty" air entering the machine is more and more diluted with clean air blown out of the machine. If it took half an hour to halve the concentration of contaminants in the room, in the next half hour it will again halve the concentration - so you're down to a quarter of the original after one hour, but it's not perfectly clean. Likewise, after a second hour you'd be down to a quarter of the contaminants present at the end of the first hour .. but you're never going to get it perfectly clean. All you can do is determine a "clean enough" concentration, and if that's not enough, wear a face mask.
Agreed, you will never get perfectly clean air but mushroom growing is not about achieving perfection, it’s about reducing bacteria as much as we can.
Will the HEPA filter be enough to protect you from mushroom growers' lung, or do you still need a face mask to avoid filling your lungs with mushroom spores?
Just wear a mask. Its super rare anyways. Unless you are growing hundreds of lbs your find
Or instead of opening a window, if you have an energy recovery ventilation system, that will bring in your fresh air but condition it to the temperature and humidity you want in the room by reclaiming the warmth and humidity from the air it's removing from your room. Much better than a heater and an open window!
Condensation on the inside of the tub is only going to happen because the temperature of those surfaces is below the dew point of the absolute humidity inside the tub. If your room temperature is very close to the tub temperature, or if you insulate the tub, that condensation isn't going to happen. If you're looking for condensation as evidence of humidity, why not just put a hygrometer in there?
If you're more concerned with the temperature inside the tub than the room temperature, wouldn't it be better to place the thermostat sensor inside the tub? That way you don't have to guess how much warmer the inside of the tub is. I'm watching this in bites so I don't recall if you said why the inside of the tub is warmer than the room, but I assume that's waste heat from the mycelia digesting the substrate?
I wouldn't put it in the bedroom unless you have amazing ventilation. Maybe put a CO2 meter on the wall nearest your fruiting block and see how it looks after a few hours with you and the block in the same room.
The hair is gorgeous. Very Abba.
What is your happy cocktail you mentioned?
Bless you.
Whatever medicinal or micronutrient mushrooms are giving you that energy, I'd like to know if they work for chronic fatigue. Good vid, and trying stuff out and documenting how it worked is the essence of good science. Kudos.
Great video!..alot of good explanations here, and the style of animation may help others with a visual understanding...just some tips i would like to add if you dont mind..."Tub Liners" are not necessary, but are next level when done right, for 1...it makes cleaning and starting your next grow alot easier...and 2,when water evaporates from your cake...the cake itself will start to shrink...and a liner hugs the cake...keeping side pins to a minimum, and having a better success rate with multiple flushes! Mush Love🍄 !
links to both the purifier and box please . Looks simple and effective

Greetings from México. Thank you for all your effort. I bought a still air box and an air purifier, I didn't see you using it in here but I guess I'll be fine using it while I'm doing what you've taught before.
Fuck THAT!😂 SUBSCRIBED!!!
what is the name of the grain bro?
Practicality with a bit of Woo! Legend.
Dude this is the best practical spawn bag advice I've found yet.
Just a thought, but could you not attach a pair of gauntlet gloves through the holes of the SAB and seal. Would save pissing about with the flaps, ooo er.. and much less chance of airborne contamination. Nice videos bud!
Where do you buy the bags from thanks
Brother, thank you for commenting. I plan on listing the exact bags I use on my website, very soon - mushroomMadness.co.uk. If I can sift through the comments I will add another comment to this thread to let you know when I’ve done it. Leo
Nice content
Thank you for commenting on the video, Marco. Nice to see this message is getting out there, especially for all my brothers and sisters who struggle with their sleep. Leo
I used this recipe. My bags are apparently way too big, and my sealer is apparently a cutter sealer but a week on and my innoculation appears to be sterile.
Good to see back and commenting again my friend - I wouldn’t worry about your bags being too large, larger bags means less chance of bursting. They cost more but lower risk. Glad to hear the method is holding up for you. Drop us a comment if you run into any issues. Leo
I have a cunning plan, just use a vacuum sealer to suck as much air out of the bag as possible and then seal the bag ,would really minimize the volume of air in the bag, by happy co-incidence it would also save space in your pressure cooker.😊😁👍
Excellent idea, Jonny! I’m gunna give this a go myself. Thanks for dropping some knowledge my brother. Leo
The monotubs I have are 32 litres and are 32 cm from base to lid. The mushrooms I grow will fit in the 12 cm from top of substrate to lid but will the humidity be too high in such a volume?
Peter, Thanks for commenting my brother - I’ve personally never had issues with too high humidity. I only worry when humidity drops, but this is dependent on what type of mushroom you’re growing - Mushrooms love humidity. Leo
super fucked lol.. earned my sub.. hahah I have blown out many a times with 6 of these bags in my presto or all American.
It happens to the best of us my friend. Thanks for dropping a comment
What do you recommend with all in one bag break ups?
Hi Kevin, thanks for commenting brother - you technically never have to shake your grains in any scenario, shaking is only done to speed up the process - that’s more or less the primary purpose. All in one kit - you could pinch and break up the very bottom of the bag where the grains are but you’d have to avoid dislodging the substrate on top of the grains. In my opinion, it’s probably best to wait for the grains to fully colonise before it makes its way up to the substrate layer on top. I plan on making an all in one kit at some point soon but I don’t have a lot of experience with them - just my thoughts Leo
@@MushroomMadnessOfficial yeah that's the same conclusion I came to just using common sense. Can combining the grain with the substrate too early result in contamination? Or will it just stall out the growth of mycelium? My grain is about 50% colonized from the outside looking in (of course I can't see the middle where I injected it) I'm not gonna mix it for another week. I was just wondering the downfall of mixing grain into substrate too early.
@@kevinhowe3280since your grow kit is sealed, there’s little risk of contamination since no dirty air can get in, even if you were to mix uncolonised grains in with the substrate, early. In the past, I’ve even inoculated substrate blocks with agar alone and no grains, so it might work. If you are going to mix early, make sure that you really throughly distribute those grains throughout the bag with the substrate, this will ensure even distribution and growth. You never want to shake substrate after it’s been mixed with grains - so you have to get the shake right the first time. I personally would just give it a go, see what happens. Making mistakes generates interesting results, and if it fails, you have a new experience that you can teach about or share. Either way, you win my brother. Leo
@@MushroomMadnessOfficial thanks for responding. I'll be looking forward to your next video. Everything looks nice and white and growing great so far with my project.
great video sir very well explained, could you advise me with my grow setup if my room ambient tenp is from 30-33 celsius... do i still need to use a heater or ac to induce pins?..please help sir..
Thanks for commenting my friend - I would try to get those temps down to at least 27°C and lower. Bacteria and contamination may start to creep in above 30°C. If you’re in a hot country where your temps are constantly high all year round then I would invest in a portable air con unit hooked up to the cooling slot of an inkbird temperature controller - that will keep your temps in a safe range. Leo
How long does penis envy takes to colonize
I seen someone complaining to someone the other day on a channel about everybody knows that you're misleading there's nothing new here and I'm like bro we all listen to each other in hoping that we learn something new once in a while! Or maybe a new technique or a new way of doing it that's easier or just more anti-contamination per se. Good video it's good to know we got new content and the mushroom growing world was going on keep it coming brother
Exactly. Evolution is a slow process. I’m simply adding my spin on it and trying to make the process that little bit more approachable for new growers Leo
@@MushroomMadnessOfficialmy brother nowadays everybody is just trying to beat the other person to see how hateful they can be I swear. So I try to live in a humble place. And you're doing good my friend keep up the work. I have been at it for about a year now and I've only had three tubs actually fruit. I get to the point to where I can get an all white cake but I actually think I'm not letting it colonize all the way somebody told me to wait until it ends until I introduce fae is there like a discord or form or something you have maybe
Could you explain the ratio of 1 to 4.5 water and substrate I just my brains processing what you said wrong can you say it another way I'm sorry bro@@MushroomMadnessOfficial
Ehh...misinformation is misinformation, we all love new content, new explanations that may help you understand something better, and new "TEK"s, i know monotubs in and out, been using them before this "UA-cam mycology wave" but still watched this vid from start to finish...and with that said...the blind should never lead the blind...
Ty for the information.. I’m currently using an ozone generator as a secondary additional air purifier..
Ozone will damage the mycelium, take care!
You’re welcome Alan. I’ve never used an ozone generator before so I can’t comment on that Leo
Ozone is poisonous to humans as well as to fungi, and also it undergoes chemical reactions with many other compounds in indoor air to make a huge range of other poisonous gases. Please find a better way to sanitise your air - for your own safety. Ozone belongs in the ozone layer, not in your lungs.
Same as every other video on here but you have a green sheet
What would you like to see in upcoming videos Barry? I value all your comments Leo
I've sealed some bags and then pc them without a problem. Last bags I over packed and had 1 burst. While hot, I transfered it to a new bag. Inoculated it. Waiting for results on it since it was done pc last night and inoculated today. 8/26/24.
Thanks for sharing your progress Kik, always good to hear how you’re all getting on. Your technique might not work because the bag you’ve put your hot grains into isn’t sterilised, if I understood you correctly. Leo
That was bloody awesome, more please. With this set up once cropped what's the process for a second flush! Cheers
Thank you for the positive feedback my friend! I’ll have to make a second video covering this topic but in a nutshell I would inject the substrate with 100ml of distilled/boiled water (wait for it to cool before injecting) - roughly 50ml per 2-2.5kg of substrate. This will hydrate the substrate, then you’ll need to wait 1-2 weeks for a second flush to appear. I wouldn’t go beyond a second flush, you’ll get diminishing returns. Leo
@@MushroomMadnessOfficial Thanks Leo.
Bro cut agar first and open bag once ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Thank you brother!
Nice vid. The impulse sealer will work on a wet bag!
Thanks for the feedback my friend! Glad you found the video useful. I personally wouldn’t recommend sealing a wet bag - you won’t get a proper seal. Always best to dry first, then seal. Leo
@@MushroomMadnessOfficial yeah I got a nasty pop when I sealed my bag
Thank you! I'm just getting into this and this video is extremely helpful. I want to understand not just be told what to do. Thank you.
You’re welcome my brother. Thank you for the positive feedback Leo
Love watching you.. your easy to listen to
That means a lot to me, Joshua. Thank you for taking the time to comment, my brother. Leo
Hey mate, thanks heaps from Australia.
Linda, you’re welcome my sister. Glad that it’s helping you. Leo
Thanks sir. Enjoyable video
You’re welcome sir - Glad you enjoyed it
What ppm of co2 is ideal for fruiting naughties? Say if i had a co2 controller and humidifier lying around anyway, i could just hook the co2 controller up to an extractor fan to ensure co2 levels are perfect. But what is perfect? Also, this vid was the hour long theory lesson i was looking for. Proper nerded out watching.
That’s music to my ears my friend, thank you. A good target is under 1000ppm - preferably around 500-600ppm.
