Thanks for sharing. Why is 4K important for you? For me, I don’t think it matters much (besides filling up memory cards and hard drives way too fast), but I get it if your clients are asking for 4K or other specific formats. I really agree with your final note about not caring too much about gear-use what you have or buy used. Most of my films were shot on my old Nikon DSLR, and they made it into film festivals and even won a couple of prizes. Even though I really appreciate shifting to the Sony FX30 recently, storytelling and audio matter way more. 🙂

As a film festival producer, your points on STORY is what I wish everyone could be told. Story is the number 1 word I use to describe the types of films we show. I guess that's why we have 3 of your films on our festival.

Love that they are both amazing things to do for your preference of fun! In life, ive learned that anything that can make your life fun and have an amazing time is a huge win regardless if people think its stupid or love it. Its about us and us only. Nothing we do as people should even have to do with others' concern of ones loves. If i wanna ski or ride park/street on my blades or if i wanna skateboard/snowboard then that would make ME happy and not anyone else. Do what makes yall happy! The judging of others and hate for wha they do is messed up. Coming from a point of view of a 39 year old kid thats been on snow for over 30 years and done a lot in my life. Hard times and good times alike, life is crazy and when you have a good outlet to express yourself its absolutely a blessing.

The grigri isnt rated for hands free device like you said, but i find a much easier approach is to have a sling (120cm works for me) attached to your belay loop and the top biner of your ascender. This acts as your redundancy, as if the grigri slips or decams youve still got the ascender engaged and csn fsll on it comfortably as its a short distance. To each their own, but i find backup knots to be too much faff. Also, the grigri plus works much better as top rope mode allows the grigri to slip much less, and also has the anti-panic handle which is helpful for rapping, so is much closer to a descender than a regular grigri

Hey Roo, really appreciate the informative videos. I'm getting into photography and videography for snow sports. Living at a resort I would love to eventually make this my career. However, I am on a strictish budget and am looking for a versatile lens that would help me break into filming primarily resort/park. I was wondering what lens if I was to buy ONE, would help cover as many angles and shots as I could. I was also wondering your opinion on variable aperture lenses? As they are MUCH cheaper but I know they are not optimal for videography as the amount of light will change when zooming in and out while filming. Any help or recommendations would be great. Currently looking at the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD Lens, as I think that could cover a few angles while also having fixed f. Current camera is a ZV-E10. Again, thanks for the helpful videos.
