@asmrnerdkingdom I like Space Hulk, anything Fantasy Flight Games, traditional stuff like Risk and Monopoly... I've always wanted to play ticket to ride and settlers of Catan. This is so weird. I was just thinking about board games from 10-20 years ago this week. I also was reading about druids a few days ago. Lol

The algorithm gods brought you to me! Definitely recommend Ticket to Ride and Catan! Absolute classics! You can play them both on Steam if you can’t convince anyone to play 😄

@@asmrnerdkingdom Id say Marvel Legendary, Forbidden Island and King of Tokyo from the top of my head! I play lots of Pandemic too but not the original 😅 the two I have are with the World of Warcraft and Star Wars IPs respectively

Thank you!! Yes, my group is playing through the Curse of Strahd campaign! I play a half-elf Druid who will multi-class to Ranger next opportunity (I want more ranged attacks and it fits well with the story arc she’s going through). I don’t have much personal experience with other classes, but I think my next character would be a Rogue (having a more combat-focused character would be fun!) or a Warlock (I like their Spell list!). How about you?

@@asmrnerdkingdom ah that's the coolest book I have! I'm paying as an elvin divination wizard (think Luna lovegood ha!). We're all pretty new but we do homebrew with a huge focus on roleplay since we're all roleplay asmrtists haha! I played a ranger in bg3 and that was super fun!

@@TinglesmithASMR love it!! I DM one-shots for another group a few times a year and they are all homebrews. Love being able to tell a short story and the players get to try out different races and classes every time! Of course it means there’s always a bit of a learning curve, but the look on their faces when they realize their character can do something really cool is priceless!

Exactly! This game style is called a “deck builder”. You gain new cards to add to your deck, making your hand stronger and stronger. There are some card actions that let you remove weak cards from your hand (in this game it’s called “K.O.”, or “Knock Out”). “Dominion” is another popular (and excellent!) deck builder game.

The Player’s Handbook has three main parts: Creating a Character, Playing the Game, and The Rules of Magic. It’s essential for learning the game, in my opinion! Watching tutorials can certainly help put everything in perspective, but I always have this book with me when I play! Dungeon Master’s Guide is the book required by DM’s. But if you were just looking to be a player, definitely buy the Player’s Handbook! I like my physical copy, but you can also buy it from the DnDBeyond website to have the electronic copy I believe. Makes it easier to find something specific!

Even though I know all this stuff already, it is so nice to listen to it in this quiet, relaxed voice, a voice I am growing very fond of. Such a great channel!

Desert is my favorite! Island is good, you can definitely see a lot of early concepts for game mechanics that show up later in Pandemic (same creator!). We’ve played Forbidden Skies a few times, but not as often as the others. And I haven’t played Forbidden Jungle yet!

I couldn’t agree more, I bust Legendary out probably more often than any other game! I made a playlist of my Legendary let’s plays! So far I’ve done the Heroes of Asgard and Champions expansions, but with so many new villains and characters to choose from, I really do want to replay some of the expansions and change it up! (And also buy new expansions, any recommendations 👀??)

@asmrnerdkingdom Im a huge X-Men fan so I got the big box expansion solely based on them and would say its my favorite! Also have World War Hulk, Dark City, Asgard and Venoms with Guardians of the Galaxy and on its way through mail 😬 they add an amazing variety to not just heroes and villains but schemes and other cards that make each playthrough feel so unique

It does the job! It’s more sturdy than it looks. It came with the game so it was designed to handle those dice, which are definitely lighter than normal dice. I love that it’s shaped like a bird house!
