If we have learned anything from the competitive camp, is that they're notorious for making sure you're not having any fun. They like to get into public matches and dominate flag carriers on sentinel, kill themselves when low health, B-back when they return the flag, and use the most obnoxious easy-use weapons. I genuinely have little to no respect for their opinions. They will make sure to ragequit every new player trying to get into tribes while the game remains imbalanced and once they're done doing their damage, they'll find a new game to wreck. I just don't think Tribes has what it takes to survive this modern era of online gaming. There's too much information out about what's broken, players play for money through their streams, internet speeds are too fast and therefore make bullet-weapons too easy to use. There's a reason there's no in-game chat. The online playerbase is super toxic and overcompetitive. It's infected every game. Back in the Tribes 2 days, most people were on dialup, DSL, and "cable". Ping were usually around 200, so you had a lot of lag that kept most weapons from working too well at long distances. I don't think simulating lag for tribes is the way to go, but it drives home the point that killing has gotten too easy, speed and air-time means a lot less than it used it. So we're left with a game that's in a fun nostalgic wrapper, but just can't play the way it used to because people are just generally better at games than they were in the 90s, and more toxic. And it really sucks.

Tribes 2 was my jam. Tribes ascend was a very worthy successor. People love this game for a reason. Fast movement. No other shooter was ever close. So do that, or don't do Tribes.

Tried this game for the first time today and have zero experience or knowledge on past games or abilities so here’s my take coming from a Overwatch 2, apex, Halo, cod, Fortnite point of view. The games fun but feels slow regardless of how fast I’m actually moving the visuals is slow. I want to move faster and would like to have a grapple instead of the pistol. Grappling other players and having another movement ability while mid air would be cool. Having an instagib game mode would get me hooked on this game. I don’t like floating and I don’t like leading shots 5 football fields in front of someone. I do however enjoy the speed and type of gameplay. The concept is cool but I typically solo q so being able to enjoy a ranked solo q experience would be nice. I’ll definitely revisit this game tomorrow and see what more it has to offer.

tribes2 will forever be peak tribes. Insane overpowered setups in every damn flavour, except the juggernaught which had ONLY a chauffeur and the mortar.

If titanfall 2 is too fast for the average gamer then yes, luckily that isn’t the case. Bring it on!

tribes vengeance is not how the game is 'meant to be played'. T:V and the grabble was an abomination

Just make a mix of T1 and T2 with better graphics and add larger maps with more objectives to keep noobs busy. You could even make a mod that a tribes mmo where you start out naked and have to hunt for gear or add crafting for specialized gear. Build strongholds that others could attack. The more flags you hold the longest in the season etc. Could be anything really.

Devs making poor choices are going to kill this game before it gets out of its EA.

Wish it felt like actual Tribes "Tribes 3", ctf is not the "main" mode, the game was taken by the community and built upon as they will never let you do. Theres no in game map editor, no in game chat, no in game IRC server for your tribe to communicate, you wont ever get player made mods, or sound packs, reticle's, so on. They already confirmed they arent going to actually build upon it anymore and give us a actual full Tribes game. It was the best FPS ever, with so much more game play then they will give you anymore.....Dynamix made an irreplaceable game. T1 still has a huge Discord server, and play regularly.

biggest issue with most games and devs are the costs for servers and what splitting an already niche game between multiple game modes. Its risky for a game thats already so niche to have multiple game modes because it splits the already small community up in half, thus making matchmaking times much lower, and also double the amount of money they have to pay to host servers. Personally, If i were hi rez i would take out competitive game mode for now and introduce honor ball. Hi Rez cant really listen to their vets and let them dictate the game if they want this game to thrive, they need to cater to the more casual players if they want this game to last and survive.

They split it and man, I really regret saying anything nice about the ball game mode. I feel like I help cause this ridiculous decision. I really liked the mode, but now they're gonna make it into its own thing and probably overcomplicate it all while neglecting Tribes.

It's not too fast it's that the enemies have too much HP time to kill is too big

looking forward to playing another Tribes but like many other felt its gone downhill since Tribes 2 which was released in beta pretty much thanks to David Georgeson pushing its launch. Still turned into a good game though and sank countless hours into it.

Downloaded Tribes Vengeance and have been playing. Can't wait to see some people online!

No tribes iteration beat tribes 2 which is disappointing. I want more variety, not less. Which means we need vehicles and more deployables

Tribes takes brains to play. Not just going around shooting each other. It takes planning, it takes real teamwork. And that's why it will fail.

I just randomly got this video on my feed and holy shit it made me remember my times playing Tribes Ascend in my childhood a Technician (god I loved my turrets and repairing shit so much) I remember too not playing for months then coming back on the game way after 1.1 droped but by that time it was so fucking over, I was very sad because of it but oh well, such is life I will keep an eye on Tribes 3 and hope it gets good before investing my time on it, and thanks man, you reminded me of a game I loved a lot, cheers

After the project manager's meltdown in the official Discord recently and a sudden wave of bans over negative feedback, and learning that they apparently plan to release the game more or less in its current state with a couple extra maps and weapons, I have absolutely no confidence left in this game :(

Bring back the plasma gun the blaster. All the vehicles. The grappler would be a dream come true. No speed cap and less jet pack. You have the Tribes trademark. Take advantage of that. Release the game and immediately start pimping a huge expansion. There's money to be made if the game becomes popular again. Tribes 1 was the most competitive game back in the day. Nothing like it since.

Random question, but what exactly does inheritance sliders do? And how does it actually affect gameplay?

Correct me if I'm wrong but another aspect is the decreasing base fighting as the Tribes series progressed. At least one of the biggest and always full servers in T1 were Broadside only. Scarbrae was an amazing map that was huge and a pain in the ass to get to the enemy base unless you took vehicles. I remember the queues waiting to get rides over but it was played a lot. The flags were locked up in these bases, but they were fun. Perhaps that type of play needs to also be included again.

I had almost 1000 hours in tribes ascend and still play Ariel assault on my ps2 I haven’t been this excited in a long time

I would disagree with some of these points in the video after about 20 hours of gameplay the skiing mechanic became second nature and able to have full control over my character. The only time I would see balances need to be done is the heavy class is a little to heavy to the ground.
