Adarac Aluminum Contour Truck Rack for a 2017, Ford F350. (Can it carry a canoe)?
Great job putting her grace and beauty and humanity on here. Special lady!!!
Cool idea
@@caphay thanks. Tired of cleaning up after an oil change.
Dd😂
Thanks for this video. All the other videos I watched told me I had to drill into the plastic on the bed rail to open up the hole to put those aluminum plates. You showed the process (simple!) to remove the caps with a flat head, and pow! It’s out. Thanks!
He has an F-350. The F-150 short bed doesn't have the removable caps up front. You need to cut those out.
Does the bottom bracket contact only the lips of the stake pockets? Are these stake pocket edges strong? Do you think they are strong enough and won't bend after a while?
The bottom rack will sit on the ledge of the bed. There is a slight clearance so it's not actually sitting on the stake pocket. I believe them to be pretty robust. I would say the crossbars are the weak point. Two canoes or yaks should be fine up there. Even a small load of lumber.
@@martyacosta2335 thanks!
Would it have worked if you got the non-contoured truck rack (Aluminum Pro series)? I just checked and you get a 26" height on the non-contoured versus 25" height on the contoured. This sucks because the contoured truck rack definitely look better and the price on these truck racks are reasonable compared to the Thule TracRac system which comes in at $1200 USD. Then you have to worry about someone trying to steal them. I also hate how bulky the bed rail sliding bar is.
When the canoe didn't fit I sold it. Haven't used it in 5 years. Only kayak now.
So does it work with the canoe?
No, it did not. Canoe wants to rub on the truck. It's about two to three inches too short.
@@martyacosta2335 I guess I would need a rack on the top of the cab. I’m probably getting a truck topper with a rack, but may still need a rack on the cab to better position my canoe on top.
@@wolfewiz ended up selling the canoe. Strictly kayak now.
@@martyacosta2335 just out of curiosity do you have the measurements for the plate that the screw threads into?
@@hemirt7860 no, i aim to take it off for the winter and make new plates
Thanks for the elegant fix. I'd wanted to do the same thing by threading BOTH ends, but the reverse-threaded tap that would have been required would have made it cost-prohibitive. Your solution is forehead-slapping simple. Has it held up well?
This has worked excellent. I only did one side and never had to adjust it again. I'm surprised Deere sells these with no adjustment.
Still holding
Here is my fix for the poor steering linkage on a JD L130. I pulled the left side linkage and cut it apart about 3" from the right side (the side by the mower). I put that short piece in my lathe and threaded it to 5/8-11. Where I made the cut in the linkage I removed another 1". I made a sleeve, 1"diameter, 3" long. I bored 2" to 5/8" so the remaining linkage would slide inside. I tapped the remaining 1" to 5/8-11. I drilled for a 1/4-20 tap thru the sleeve, 1/4" from the end of the 5/8 bore 5 times at .375 intervals. I then drilled halfway thru with a 9/32 drill for a clearance hole. Then I tapped the 5 holes to 1/4-20. I then took the remaining linkage and put 5, 9/32" holes thru, .250 from the end at .375 intervals. This now gives you total adjustment. I only did one side to see if it would work and it works excellently. I will do the other side next week. Right now it is perfect except the steering wheel is out of square. But the front tires are back in alignment.
