First year of the Wagoneer, it's an original vehicle and the interior is like a time capsule, 3-speed column shifter with an overhead valve 230 cu in Tornado straight 6 engine, runs on a 6-lobe cam.. thats right.

These M37's are so much fun, we swapped out the diff gears for a better street ratio that gives it a comfortable 55-60 mph cruise vs 45 mph before. it has a 230 cu in straight 6 with a 2speed transfer case.

Compared to a Model T this car was the better machine in 1925, one of the best driving cars as well, really comfortable...not that fast so it should be comfortable!!

The Ford FE 390 was a medium block.
Do a neutral slam. In case you don't know what it is, you put the car in neutral and floor it then slam the tranny in gear. Something will give.
was an overhead cam 6, and valves were overhead. the cylinder head was huge, and the timing chain was a mile long. early ones had independant front suspension yours has the optional clock, and the radio and compas. all said jeep on it!!
Those flat 6s love high RPM. Keep revving!

I was a mechanic for the USAF in Nam. We repaired an M37 sent it to tire shop for tires. They were recaps. they were so out of round a 15 MPH the tire was leaving the ground. What great stuff we got for our troops.
i had one, loved it. mine was blue. put 6x9's speakers in the door and an 8 track it would crank sound. went all over with the 6 cyl always leaked oil. fun car. i miss it. rebuilt the engine twice, i had the automatic trans, pulled it and put in the stick. automatic was too small for the torque. nice view from the inside windows.
You can really hear those straight cut gears get wound up! She's still got some kick to her.
Man I love all of these driveway videos, hope there's more some day! I notice you shift this one manually... is this one of those transmissions that started out in 2nd, or does it just shift too early if left to its own devices?
Thanks! This one has a transmission that shifts slushy, but it has a low gear band that when you shift up carefully it performs better. Thanks for watching!

Is the tornado 230 not an overhead cam engine?
It is an overhead cam engine. The interesting part is there is only 6 lobes on the camshaft. Both intake and exhaust rockers are controlled by the same lobe.

Yes it is an overhead cam engine, but we are not going to change the audio at this time. The fun piece of knowledge is that the cam has only 6 lobes. And this engine has custom billet oversized hemispherical pistons because there are no oversized pistons available, and I would highlight this is likley one of the survivors of a great engine design ahead of its time.
@@chrisharbourt2849 I meant video description, the text under the video. Sorry for the confusion, autocorrect on mobile can be very annoying. And yes this is a very interesting engine, but would the best way to increase cam profiles to be putting in different rocker arms?
