    While GM and Chrysler were into the fins in the late 50’s up until 1961, FoMoCo started the land yacht trend in with the ‘58 to ‘60 Lincoln Continental, really took off once the 1961 Ford Galaxie 500 and 1961 Continental debuted, took off from there. The 1969 Continental Mark III definitely set the tone for the 1970’s (along with the 1969 Ford LTD and Mercury Marquis). GM tried to catch up to FoMoCo by putting the coffin nose on their cars (mainly Cadillac), but unfortunately their 1971 to 1976 generation were probably some of the worst cars they ever made, never saw any ‘71 to ‘76 GM cars out here despite it being dry in California.

    The cars looking good! If you add an electric fan you probably want to upgrade to an alternator. I think the stock Ford generators of that time were only 30 amps, and that was with the engine at a fairly high rpm. At idle in traffic, running an electric fan when you need extra cooling the most, the generator won't be able to keep up and you'll drain the battery! Something to take a look at anyway! Take care, and looking forward to you next vid!

    Lmao i had similar issues in my 72 El Camino!! I replaced the whole wiring harnesses, and everything because the turn signals kept going crazy and not working right and headlights were having issues. Replaced the light control switch everything!! Turns out it was all because of light bulbs!! I put single filament 1156 bulbs in the car and ot needed dual filament 1157s necause the blinker system relay relied on two chanels rather than one to swap between the two filaments otherwise it created a short. 😂😂 Damn headache with all kinds of problems all over light bulbs.

    The outside mirror, cables and adjuster knob are all one piece. Possibly the nut came unscrewed and the adjuster dropped down inside the door. Maybe all your need to do is fish the adjuster back up into the hole and replace the chrome nut! Your car has a good amount of options like the cornering lights and power door locks! The sensor in the thermostat housing was to help keep the engine from overheating at idle. If the coolant flowing out of the engine got to hot, the sensor would switch from ported vacuum to manifold vacuum, advancing the timing and speeding up the idle so the engine cooled better.

      @@mdfishman1959 I'm curious if it does have power door locks! Does it say "power lock" on the tops of the front door lock knobs? It's a weird vacuum system that was used until 1972, then Ford went to electric lock actuators. If it does, do they work?

    • @mdfishman1959
      @mdfishman1959 Рік тому

      @@joesmithjoesmith4284I’m pretty sure it does have power locks! I’ve heard them trying to work before but I don’t think they do currently

    • @joesmithjoesmith4284
      @joesmithjoesmith4284 Рік тому

      @@mdfishman1959 It's a fairly simple system. There's an electric valve behind the glove box that sends vacuum to each door to either lock or unlock. The valve is controlled by switches in the rod the front door lock knobs are attached to. To use the power locks, lift one of the knobs to unlock the door, then lift a bit more and hold it until the vacuum unlocks the doors. Same for locking, push one of the front door lock down to lock, then push a bit more and hold it until the doors lock. Just like the headlight doors, there must be vacuum in the reservoir in order for the power locks to work!

I remember our neighbors had a 2 door coupe model and the the rear quarter panels went on for miles. Those have to be the largest quarter panels on any car! They looked way longer than my dad's 1974 Caddy Coupe de Ville. Good luck with it and I can't wait to see how it looks when you're finished working on it,
