As of this writing in December 2016 no one makes ready-to-run American prototype subway trains in N scale. Kato makes some N scale subway trains but those are Japanese prototypes. Early Tokyo Ginza and Marunouchi line subway cars were based on American systems. Cars are similar to American subway cars of the era. TOMYTEC released static models of 3 of the cars used on the Ginza line- the 100, 1...

Faller and TOMYTEC have had moving bus systems for a few years now but the buses were always European or Japanese prototypes. In early 2016 TOMYTEC introduced an American prototype bus in N scale- the GM old look bus seen in many American cities during the 1950s and 1960s. Once I saw them I had to have a pair. This is a test track setup.

In days past Dayton, Ohio ran a vintage trolleybus (trackless trolley) decorated for the Christmas season. Several paint schemes were used, this is one of them. This Super 8mm film was taken in December of 1985. Also seen is the diesel Christmas bus that they used. In the evening between the days this footage was shot a group (the Cleveland Motor Bus Society?) sponsored a chartered fan trip of ...

St. Patrick's parade in Rockaway Beach, Queens, NYC March 2, 2013. The day was overcast and chilly with some snow flurries but nowhere as bad as the day of huriicane Sandy. This year the parade was a symbol of the strength, courage and endurance of the people of Rockaway. God bless them all.

where did you get those models?

IIRC- these cars were limited edition models sold at the Tokyo Metro Museum based on two of the cars displayed there. They were not sold in the US but I found them online in Japan and purchased them through AMAZON Japan and a buying service called ZenMarket. You can find similar Japanese subway models in both N and HO scale through the HobbySearch (Japan) newsletter. If you search early Tokyo Ginza and Marunouchi subway lines on Wikipedia there is a lot of interesting information there about the prototypes of these cars.

@@TheOldNeighborhood hello there 9 months later…….this has been frustrating. I did what you suggested and found something on ebay in ho scale that is, well, EXPENSIVE, and only for a single motorized unit. It just isn’t meant to be….. Btw, I’m Daniel G. Rraddena is my other youtube account.

@@TheOldNeighborhood do you still have the boxes of these models? If you do, can you tell me the serial numbers to the sets?

@@rraddena Everything is packed away right now, I can't get to them but my models are N scale and you said you looked for HO scale on eBay. If you're looking for HO scale subway cars there are some very nice HO models of New York City IRT subway cars from the 1950-60's made by PROTO 1000 and MTH. Four car sets can be found for $400. and less. I don't know what your budget is but those prices are really reasonable for HO R-T-R 4 car sets of NYC subway cars.

@@TheOldNeighborhood so I broke down and bought the collectors edition of the Ginza line in brass ho scale. I won’t tell you how much I spent but I love the prize. It is a treasure. I also was able to purchase via amazon jp the n scale diorama of the tomytec old ginza line subway in n scale. It’s a two car set. Will eventually motorize it. I have nyc in ho scale and i love those as well. I am a trainfreak!

Very cool. Remember back in the early 70's riding the trollys with my Grandmother. They were ahead of their time with electric motors. Would go to rikes,,and buy jeans that were hard as plywood, and much too large, for me to grow into.

I assume you mean early with respect to March 17th which is St. Patrick's day. There are a number of local St. Patrick's parades held in New York City, the dates are staggered throughout March so as not to conflict with the big one on 5th Avenue in Manhattan which was held on Saturday the 16th this year because the 17th fell on a Sunday. The parade in Rockaway is usually held the first Saturday in March.
