Welcome back to the Pain Free Birth Podcast!
In this episode we’re meeting one of my personal doula clients Sondra Almeter - I’ve been hounding her to come on the show for a YEAR and she finally did. I’m so excited to share her amazing birthing stories, including a breech vbac birth.
We explored Sondra’s transformative journey into motherhood, starting with her first birth's challenges and the vital role of a doula. From informed consent to the "birth high," and even an unexpected home birth, we celebrated every birth's uniqueness and the miracle of unmedicated experiences.

Yes, women can give birth to their ideas and grow them to something amazing just as they do with their true baby pregnancies and births and the raising of these babies!

Something that I am just so surprised that I haven’t heard anyone say in this podcast or other content that I listen to… If the cord is wrapped around the babies neck, it’s fine. The baby has not taken to breath yet. The babies lungs are not open yet. The baby is not suffocating with the cord wrapped around its neck. It’s just like being underwater can stay underwater for a little bit of time and it’s not a big deal because baby has not taken her breath yet. if there is enough room for air to flow through the neck with a cord drop drowned it then there’s enough room and baby can breathe, if there’s not enough room and there’s no air coming through then it’s fine just like leaving the baby in the water for a little bit. your baby is not being resuscitated after having the cord unwrapped from around the neck, it’s just the suction thing that takes the mucus and any blockages out of the nose and mouth that babies will get whether they have the cord wrapped or on their neck or not. There was previous susitation to resuscitate. Most babies are born with their cord wrapped around them in someway. They were tossing and turning with this as their only play thing. Just unwrap it and proceed as normal just like you would take the baby out of the water and proceed as normal or pop the sack if you’re born in the sack and proceeded as normal.

Also, you dont have to say, "would it be ok if you stepped out for a minute ". You can literally tell people to leave. "I want you to leave", "I don't want you in the room right now", or "I want to be alone right now". Youre allowed to take up space, women, at al times, but especially when you are giving birth.

Even I have the same opinion, it’s very important to mention why you made that decision and what kind of risks are there… you don’t want all first time moms to see your content thinking inductions are generally bad or to be avoided, it can be dangerous to spread fear of medical procedures 😁

yes, thats fine. BUT even more with twins, there is a chance at the risk of health. for both mom and babys. at some point the body will decrease the stuff your child gets. yes, there are natural ways to get into labor but if nothing works PLEASE go and get the help you need. otherwise you and your kids are in danger and in the worst case - can die

Love this podcast. I gave birth 3 days ago and was attempting an unmedicated VBAC, after first baby was breech. I can say it was almost pain free till the end. My body was pushing on its own and that felt good. I ended up with an emergency C-section again just because baby’s heart rate was getting dangerously low with every push. It was the right call, the cord was around his head and he would have suffocated during crowning. I still had an amazing positive experience and got to the point of pushing this time, which was empowering! Breathing techniques, relaxation and staying calm really is the secret. They were useful during labour and during the C-section procedure. Now postpartum and the recovery is going amazing this time! Mindset is everything.
