Too American for my taste . The best version is Alastair simm . Scrooge was British and the only American that played him well was George C Scott I have nearly every adaption this is a good one even though its not british its very christmasy and the spirit is still within and that's the most important thing .

Originally, Mel Brooks had set up the project at Columbia Pictures, but Columbia insisted on making the movie in color. Brooks wouldn't budge. YF HAD to be in black and white because it was a homage to the great Universal horror classicsof the 1930s. You look at the first shot after the credits. It is a closeup of the Grandather clock. If you didn't know any better, you would've thought you were back in 1931. The lighting of the scene was perfect. So, Mel took the project to 20th Century Fox, which gladly made the movie in B&W.The movie was a HUGE hit.

This theme could be easily compared with those of the soundtracks of the Frankenstein,Mummy and Wolf Man movies from the Universal Studios

Why all the scratches

Ugh. The goosebumps I get from this opening. It's so warm, beautiful, and cozy. 10/10 perfect film to watch by the Christmas Tree on a snowy night. Can't get much better than that.
