I'm a yarn spinner and allergic to wool. I take the Homespun yarn and pull it apart to comb the fibers and mix with alpaca fiber and spin it into wrosted or DK yarns. I also thrift for yarn. Lately, thrift stores have been boosting their prices. I go on the senior days to get 30% off. Great buy. ❤

I was shocked at how soft it is. Wish they would roll out more colors.

I think you got a good deal on that yarn. I love the blanket yarns. I've gotten yarn in grab bags (mine was a huge bag). I think it depends on the store. This was probably about a year or two ago, in Canada.

I also think that someone should make this type of yarn, but for continous granny squares!

Your thoughts on this yarn are spot on! I am trying to crochet with it and it is stiff and it feels like no matter how small a hook I go it feels gappy. The recommended gauge of a 4.00mm-4.5mm hook is waaaay too big. I think between 2.5mm-3.00mm will suite better for most projects. I saw it in the Black Friday sale and ordered enough skeins to make an afghan, but now I actually have it in my hands I am really questioning whether or not to use it there.

The part where you go through the books just sounds like "Coming soon to wip mountain more projects." Edited to add: The crochet hooks in bulk from the dollar tree sound like a great place to get begginer crochet hooks for if you're teaching classes and supplying the materials.
