A lot of really great ones on your channel, I think this is one of the best! Definitely played with feeling!
@@RichRawDawgdrums glad you’ve been enjoying the covers and videos!
Love this. its my kinda thing!!!💯💥
@@RubycDrummer thanks for watching! Lots more coming!
Well done, bro. Brann Dailor is proud of you.
Thanks for watching! Really cool that he reacted to the video!
Funk isn’t the style I play (I play more progressive punk and metal) but it looks like fun. It seems very technical, is that right?
@@Dudenobody thanks for watching! This isn’t funk per se, just a fun title really. Funk can be kinda technical though yeah! It’s very dynamic and hi-hat focused. I’m also a huge fan of prog metal and punk!
so happy that brann saw this :) you’re a fantastic drummer!
@@sailed7972 thanks for watching and I’m really stoked Brann reacted to this as well! Lots of fun!
freakin insane
Thanks for watching!
Drumeo brought me here! Well done!!
@@sootchh4055 thanks for watching! Hope you stick around!
Anyone who attempts to do drums covers of songs by At The Drive-In and The Mars Volta has good taste in music and is a brave person! You really rocked this one! 🤘
@@RichRawDawgdrums thanks for watching, and for checking out more of my covers! Glad to have you here!
Cool one! I like this band! I covered their song Danny Nedelko a couple years ago during punk week. Keep rocking!
@@RichRawDawgdrums Danny Nedelko is such a fun one! Love IDLES too!
Amazing drumming! Even got Brann Dailor’s thumbs up on this one! You have some awesome covers on your channel! Liked and subscribed! 🤘
@@RichRawDawgdrums thanks for watching! Really excited that he reacted to the cover! Thanks for stopping by and sticking around!
BRO! YOU'RE DRUMEO FAMOUS! So deserved and Brann was super supportive. Putting in the work, man!
I’m just as excited as you! Thanks for watching!
How does it feel to see Brann Dailor himself react to your cover ? Great job btw.
@@bwa_8 really amazing and cool! Thanks for watching! Wish I had uploaded a better take than this one now though haha! I’m definitely on the struggle bus!
Dude, you're famous!!! ua-cam.com/video/ruPi847mSKE/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
So cool! You even did the (night) part
Hoooly! Flawless! This song is no joke! Been trying to ear out the bass part for almost a year. I didnt even really notice that polyrhythm until I watched you play it. So dope!
Thanks for watching! This is one of my favorite Chevelle songs for exactly those reasons!
Best band in human history
Great cover! An "A Casa" cover would be cool too
Recorded A Casa in the same session as this cover! It’ll be out in 2 weeks!
Smooth!
Bro, you got some touch. I really enjoy watching your vids cus your passion and finesse really come through.
Thanks for watching and the kind words!
Bro, your ride and hat sound majestic. Love the fills too.
I appreciate that! Gotta credit Zildjian for the ride and hats!
Great cover, relax and groovy, nice example also for my Open Handed Playing Students, thanks for sharing !!
Thanks for watching!
dude your covers are sick, can you please do something from crooked rain by pavement? that album has some pretty sweet fills.
I'll check those out! Thanks for all the comments and for watching!
dude I love you
Haha! Thanks for the fandom! Love you too dude!
underrated channel
I loved it! Hi, my name is Arnaldo, and with this channel, some friends and I are looking for people to do some online covers. We have a video for Breña, but we don't have any drummers. Would you be interested in participating in this online collaboration? We would be very happy to have your precision with the drums for this song. What do you think?
Great work!
Thanks for watching!
11:57 is my favorite part of the song, probably is yours too. You love this piece and play it amazingly, which is an insane accomplishment. Ive definitely come back to this video a bunch of times.
Thanks for watching! Yeah that section of the song is definitely a stand out, as is 14:23, for me! Glad you enjoyed the cover!
As an enthusiast drummer, I think theres drums that sound complicated but infact are pretty simple to play and then theres drums like this, where it sound super simple but is complicated af to play.
I agree! Some of the "simple" sounding stuff can actually be really difficult to play! The magic of songs like this is that they groove so well despite being in an odd tome signature!
Noice. Just saw them on Saturday night. RAGING show. You might dig this drum jam breakdown in the middle of "...Perm" : ua-cam.com/video/zOSWS-5LtoI/v-deo.htmlsi=iGymQlkCVWZvUuOv
For a split second I thought you were about to start playing Dance Dance by fall out boy. 😂 Sick one bro. Sounds like a good one live!
IDLES is amazing live. One of the best live shows I’ve ever seen!
Mentioning IDLES and Fail Out Boy in the same breath is a jailable offence.

Hi Paul, stumbled across your vid while taking a trip down memory lane looking for vids of my old band, Verse Metrics. I'm the drummer on the track you're playing along to. Mind-blowing to see/hear. Well played and thanks for bringing back some nice memories.
Whoa! This is incredible! I'm a huge fan of your music, and it was the soundtrack to my time in grad school in 2016 when I discovered your band. I recently took a trip last spring to Scotland, and to mark the occasion, I listened to a bunch of your albums, since you all are local. That inspired my covers of this song and "Dr. Hildegarde..." Your drumming is super creative, and fun to play along to. This track in particular is one of my favorites. The upbeat hi-hats are so fun and challenging! Really happy you enjoyed the cover! Thanks for watching!
@@compulsivepercussion that's amazing. Can't believe our wee band made it to someone across the pond! How did you discover us? I see from some of your other covers that you're a fan of a few UK bands, that's really cool. Re: the hats in this song, I took inspiration from Deftones' "Rx Queen" for the intro loop, then a bit of Incubus for the verses. I always like to take challenging beats from my favourite drummers and then see if I can do something different with them myself. Really flattered that you've said all that, glad you liked the music and thanks for listening to our tunes.
@@MartinDalziel at the time, in 2016, I was fond of going onto Bandcamp, choosing a few different genres I liked (math rock, prog rock, metal, etc) and then just sifting through the recommended results until I found a gem. Discovered quite a bit of cool bands that way, including yours! I think the first song I heard was “this is your captain speaking” and was caught by the vocals and those neat triplet feel sections you do on the drums that tease the outro section. It’s so cool hearing how you came up with the parts for this song. I have a similar writing style, and it’s always so fun to me to be able to get a peak behind the curtain of how certain parts came to be! Thanks for sharing that with me! And yeah, there’s a few cool UK bands I’ve been into for a while. TTNG, and Delta Sleep are high among them, and I’ve been on an IDLES kick for a while now too. The UK math rock scene seems to be really resonant with me!
I have arrived.
Any chance you have a version of this without the original in the mix? Just your drums?
Unfortunately I don't. I record the song and my drums all at the same time. Thanks for watching!
@@compulsivepercussion cool man, just thought I'd ask. Great video!
Man this is amazing! Congrats, keep it up!!
@@IvoryEatsTheWorld7 thanks for watching!
Can you please add tabs
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately I'm not very good at transcriptions or tabbing. I'm much better at just playing haha! I'm sure there are lots of great tabs out there already for this song though!
Please size and models for the cymbals. Sounds great
Thanks for watching! All of the cymbals are A Zildjians. From my left to right: 23 inch sweet ride, 13 inch new beat hats, 10 inch splash, 16 inch china high, 18 inch medium thin crash, 16 inch medium thin crash, 20 inch medium thin crash.
Nice video man, wish Chevelle had a bigger audience, they deserve so many more ears. They're great live too.
@@Tyleriino thanks for watching! Yeah they’re a great band! Liked them a lot growing up!
Sounds great! What's the track that you're playing along to?
@@woodpeckersmusic thanks for watching! It’s a drumless track by Tim Baltes! I don’t remember the exact name of the track right now (traveling) but I know it’s off his drumless tracks vol. iv. You can find it on Bandcamp for free! Great way to practice and jam out!
well done mate
