Morning Worship Service 3-22-20 - Social Distancing Edition
Stand still and be quiet: When it comes to the rough patches in life, a true believer in God will not even flinch at the problems around them. Instead, they will look and wait upon the Lord, knowing he is there to fight our battles for us. We are to stay in prayer, knowing without any doubt he is going to come through. He has never once failed us, and _never_ will to those who wait patiently upon the Father’s commands. To do something ourselves only makes matters worse-sometimes even leading to death. As Jesus has said, “come to me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest…for his yoke is easy, and his burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).
Only God can produce good fruit: Every breath a person takes while they are separated from God is a curse to them. A corrupt tree, which is a person without God, _cannot_ bear good fruit in the eyes of God no matter what their “good works” may seem like to others. Even their prayers are an abomination to Him (John 9:31, Proverbs 28:9). Why can only a good tree produce good works? Because it is not the man who produces those good works, but God’s Spirit and His power that works through them, just as His power and spirit works through Jesus (John 14:10). All who belong to God will cease from their own ways and works-instead, they will pick up the cross daily; for the works we will see in those of God are done by God alone (John 3:21).
God is the commander over all, even Jesus: Why can’t people understand that whosoever is in command over the words and deeds of another is the *_commander?_* Jesus tells the world multiple times his sayings and deeds are *NOT* his own but the Father’s (John 12:44, John 12:49-50, John 8:28). In John 14:23-24, Jesus said “if a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and *WE* will come unto him, and make *our abode* with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and *the word which ye hear is **_NOT MINE,_** but **_the Father's which sent me._* Those who do not abide by the words of Jesus are rejecting the words of the commander, the only true God-the Father. In turn, they both will reject them (Matthew 7:21). It is Jesus who said for us to do his Father’s will (Matthew 4:10).
Something extremely wicked is happening within this world: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). God is allowing His people to see demons invading the bodies of Satan’s servants. Although God has blessed and allowed them to have life, all they care about is their own selves. Instead of beholding the glory of God and thanking Him for the life He has given them, they choose to plot, plan and go against God and their neighbors. Instead of causing good, they spew evil because they are being controlled by Satan, the god of this world. This is a ploy to keep them against God and His creation. Satan wants man to disdain and undermine God, just as he himself has done. We are to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind-and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Jesus said do this and we shall live (Luke 10:27-28).
Jesus cried when he said this: Jesus cried out and said “He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me” (John 12:44). But why did he cry out about this? Jesus knew these days would come when man would look to him as God instead of his Father, who is the only true God (John 17:3). He knew that most of the world would be lost for disobeying God's words through him. Again, in Mark 9:37, Jesus said “...whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.” Jesus' heart was grieved knowing most people would reject his sayings, which come from his Father. Jesus always leads us to his Father, never to himself. Jesus and the Father are one in agreement in all things, meaning we are to hear Jesus' words from God the Father and serve him only. It is only by Jesus' words that we can come to the Father (John 14:6). Any who reject this are rejecting God; as it is written, for many are called but _few_ are chosen (Matthew 22:14).
