Kids can't help themselves around water - The Sidekick
Will your child follow their older siblings anywhere, even if it's somewhere they're too young to go?
We know that toddlers are curious and unpredictable as they explore the world around them. It's what we love about them, but it's also what puts them at risk around water. This is why adults need to take steps to keep them safe.
This campaign from Royal Life Saving WA is reminding parents that kids can't help themselves around water. You need to.

      It depends on what other injuries they have. You go as slow as possible and as fast as necessary. Going fast can be a quick way to make a spinal injury worse.

      I volunteered as a lifeguard for a local city’s summer learn to swim program. Not only did we HAVE all that equipment IN STOCK, we had it easily accessible each and every time there were classes being held. We didn’t offer any “free swim/open swim” times. We held a weekly inservice and were regularly tested on our knowledge and skills. I also volunteer lifeguarded at a local camp that allowed groups to utilize the pool with advance notice so a lifeguard could be brought in. The campground had all of this equipment permanently stationed at the pool and had other medical resources available to be brought if necessary. If your local pool that has a lifeguard on duty does NOT have rescue equipment available to them, then SHAME ON THEM! As a lifeguard, I would never agree to work in a facility that was not properly equipped with the resources I need to properly carry out a rescue should an incident occur on my watch! This includes a phone to call emergency services, rescue tubes (at least 3), a spine board with straps and a head block, a pocket mask with filter for CPR, and ideally an AED.

      In ambient water, yes. But that’s because the heart keeps beating despite the blood losing oxygen, so carbon dioxide builds up but oxygen to vital organs decreases more slowly, until cardiac arrest occurs. In cold water the shock of water entering a tiny body can instantly stop the heart in many cases. It takes only 7 seconds of sustained cardiac arrest for brain death to begin to occur; by 30 seconds it’s almost invariably over.

    Nice work! Compressions are a bit too fast (slow down a bit so the heart fills up more). Don't be too agressive with the inflation (you will pump air in the stomach and venous return is diminished as well) place the knees a bit closer to the patient. Your back will thank you and you won't be leaning as much on the patient.

    • @connorokeefe269
      @connorokeefe269 Рік тому

      Knees back are actually recommended in some cases, since it means more of your body weight goes over the pt so it's easier to give compressions. I recommend it to my candidates, especially those who struggle physically.

Upon a certain degree of impact , the oxygen tank can ignite, causing an internal flash fire and causing the aluminum tank to burst. If that isn't handled carefully, it will explode.
