    Nice, just note that by adding the larger pulley you slowed down the alternator revolutions. This is why your charge is so low. low 13's when that alternator should be charging at low 14's. Otherwise...good job!

      @@petersipp5247 these engines are referred to by both 4.9 litre and 300 cubic inch. I just included both. You'll find earlier 80's and the 70's models were called 300's but from the mid 80's onward through the end of the run even Ford themselves seems to call them 4.9's. Yes Ford is an American manufacturer but let's face it. They have been using metric hardware for nearly 40 years now in one application or another. Whether we like it or not, the days of a vehicle being developed, assembled and distributed in the same country are pretty much gone.

      Hi, the video shows where to put the coil wires. You'll have one coleing from the battery to the coil and one coming from the coil to your points to open and close the contelact. If you currently have a positive ground system and are swapping to negative ground, simply swap the wires on the positive and negative studs of the coil. Positive being battery power and negative being the points on a 12volt negative earth system.

    Good walk through. If buying an alternator, look for the "mini hotrod' Denso model since it tucks in the engine bay better. Some of the GM truck big alternators and bracket/belt situation puts the alternator case out where the steering arm will bang/break the case when going through rough terrain.

    Your memory of WD 40 being flammable is mistaken my friend. Back about the time that the Willies that you are working on was built, the Acme company was contracted by the U.S. government to develop a formula to displace water that was non corrosive, non flammable and non conductive to chase moisture from electrical fittings. That is, why by the way, you can spray it into a wet distributor cap to get the motor started. Since the compound that we all know and love was the 40th attempt to fulfill the contract, it was called WD (water displacement)40, or WD40 today. It was never designed as a penetrant or for rust repair. Isn't it nice though that that we can ridicule it for something that it was never meant to be.

    • @junkinjames6345
      @junkinjames6345 9 місяців тому

      If you go on wd40s website it literally says it penetrates stuck parts. Directly from the website it says ..... Although wd 40 stands for water displacement ......it contains a special blend of lubricant for anti corrosion and penetration. I hate to burst your bubble but if you look up the msds of wd40 it warms its extremely flammable. It also lists it's flash point or ignition temp as 268 degrees. Meaning. Yes it is flammable.
