Bought my 07 F150 4x4 w/ 5.4 in 2013 and 67k miles, now has 185k in 2024. Had to do cam phasers , timing chain, hv oil pump at 150k and I have always maintained meticulously but I work this truck hard,, truck still runs and looks GREAT ! I have only ran 5w/20 full synthetic and Mastercraft oil filters exclusively but will now switch to 5w/30 and see how she does, every now and than she gets a tank full of E85. I love my truck !

Thanks i have seen a few of your videos over the last few years working on my 04 as well .i got the same airbags the other day or very close the Torque parts TR2350 from amazon . i was surprised the model number wasn't on the title or description .i was searching through UA-cam with the part number to find a quick link to these bags had to scroll a bit to find because i was searching with part number .i guess they have a few different styles of bags out there. But might get you more tags slap that model number somewhere in the description something to think about. video was great once i recognized they was the same and was a great help by the way thanks for sharing your f150 adventures with us. I bought a 2005 F150 2WD 5.4 auto about a year ago for $2,800. It has 282k miles on it. New transmission, timing chain assembly and rear/front main seal. The truck is solid. No rust. Runs and drives great. Doesn't leak or burn a drop of fluid or oil. The bed is big enough to haul everything I need, and the extended cab is nice. I can haul 6 people in the truck. For the price, I couldn't have gotten a nicer truck.

Hey…have a f 150, 2007 with 283,000 mi. Has a 3 valve triton V8. No noise and looks great. Believe oil is the key. Every 5k miles. Love the drive.

You are so lucky that didn't break off on the spark plug and bend a valve. That's incredible.

I think you should have spacers above the airbags since your truck has blocks in the rear.

Are the 5.4s as bad as everyone says? I’m looking at the exact same truck you have and there only problem is the 5.4. It’s really nice with 250km.

97-03 f150 4 low selection is the same. Truck has to be in neutral.

Triton have small oil gallies so I'd be skeptical heavier oil is a good idea.

It is doable in an SUV or truck but I do not recommend it if in a car.

Switching to 5w/30 full syn quiets the engine but upgrading to a Melling hi-volume oil pump will get oil to those far cylinders. Might as well upgrade those ticking timebomb timing components while you’re at it. I’ve got a 2010 F150 FX4 with 210k/mi and just did a 5-star tune and it runs better than new. Throttle response and low-mid torque are greatly improved and the best part is a custom tune allows you to utilize all 6 gears on the 6R80. That is HUGE. Getting 17-20mpg with 34" Wildpeak AT4's @ 70mph.

240k miles on my 05 4.6l f150 and last time I checked the dipstick I had to blow the dust off it, it was so dry.

Just bought an 08 Lariat 5.4 L in Excellent condition 168,000 and has some haul ass still in her. Rides, feels and runs like a new truck. This is in comparison to an 04 Ram 1500 5.7 that I had previously.

My 2006 Expedition with 289K miles only changed vv solenoid and use Pennzoil syn 5/30w

Also use oil stabilizer and treatments to clean out the engine and oil pump and it will keep your oil pressure up and your engine will also thank you for that. Also the thickest oil I’d go with for these engines is 10W 30 full synthetic high milage

just got my self a 2006 f150 5.4l its got an exhaust from the dealer and i love it even though i put like an in hole in it 24 hours after i got it. still love it and its a great daily for a 17 year old kid who does dumbshit.

I installed E3 plugs in my F-150. Why? They were on sale. Cheap enough to take a chance. Nothing happened. As in nothing special. No increase in power or fuel economy...Also, nothing bad happened. No misfire. The engine didn't blow up. They work. But don't expect a life changing experience.

Sometimes the ticking you hear will be because of small crack in the exhaust manifold, especially on the drivers side. The exhaust manifolds on these trucks are known for cracking.

45-60 secs of heating it up & it slides right off onto the ground. Put bearing in freezer & slides right on. I've done dozens & dozens.

Sounds like crap. Vibration doesn't mean sh!t. You get what you pay for

So one of the major concerns for the Ford F150 series is rust developing on the bed rails and frame itself. I always check the bed rails and frame before buying any truck. If the bed rails are rusted out you have to remove the bed,then use a heating torch to cut the spot welds off the bed and remove the old rails. To remove the old rails,then weld new rails back on and bolt them in is a huge job. You’re talking 3,000 to 5,000 dollars at the mechanic shop. A little surface rust isn’t a huge concern on the frame,but if you can take a ball pean hammer to it and knock chunks of rust off than it’s not safe to put on a lift. The 4.6 liter and 5.4liter triton motors are good reliable motors,both the Single overhead cam and Dual camshaft are screamers. You really can’t go wrong with either one.

My 07 5.4L is clocking in at 182k miles right now. Have to say it’s been dead reliable. Appreciate these videos on these F-150s! Did spark plugs, engine coolant flush, transmission pan drop, axle fluid… well worth it with the price of new ones!

I’ve got an 05’ and have had this fan for about 5 years now. Does your temp probe work well? After replacing mine twice because it always seemed to not trigger the fans, I ended up buying flex a lites upgraded in line probe that you install in the radiator tube (top one obviously). It’s worked since then.
