Congratulations on the pickup, it looks really sharp. Surprised it's not a 10
@@baseballHOFautographs Thanks Frank - yea, I was thinking it was a safe 9 with a good shot at a 10.. 🤷🏼♂️ Still very happy with the result!
@@iconic_baseball That is (one of) the reasons, I don't grade, too arbitrary.
@@baseballHOFautographs I totally get it. I only grade when i’m pretty sure I have a minimum 9 auto grade.. but even then, i’ve had a couple 8’s over the years
Fantastic autograph Al! Congrats on adding to your amazing collection!
@@EverydayCardCollector-Jason Thanks so much for watching Jason!
Great addition, Al! I like how you share not just the amazing piece, but your collecting philosophy, and the thought process that goes into acquiring a big piece like this for your PC. Congrats on the 9 grade too!
@@HighPopProfessor Thanks for tuning in Brian!
I tell ya, all things considered, I prefer Johnnie Cochran.
@@akhavari23 😐
Great pickup Al! It was a blast hanging out yesterday! Too bad the show wasn't very good.
Thanks Darren! Yea - It may not have been a great show, but it was a great hang! haha
Congratulations on ‘The Mick’ auto, IA! And wow, impressive BA and OBP…Also, maybe Juliet never contemplated the name ‘Gordon Mantle’ when she claimed ‘A rose by any other name would smell as sweet’ ;) Thanks as always for the goodness, Al!
@@michaelgolden4938 haha yea, I wonder if Mickey Mantle’s legacy would have been somewhat different if he came up with a name like Charles or Gordon.. 🤔 Thanks for watching Michael!
I love this autograph. So clean and crisp. Congrats. Gotta be honest though, as you were holding it and discussing it I couldn’t help but think “I hope that stand holds it up without tipping”. It’s like watching your child perform and hoping it does its best without embarrassing you. Just kidding😁 Great addition Al.
@@thedrewavintagelegacy6455 Haha I wasn’t worried - your stands did great as always👌 Thanks for tuning in Drew!
Great sig. That Delong is perfect in every way.
@@W238thStreet Thank you sir - I love how it turned out
Congratulations on your new iconic autograph pickup Al!! That Cochrane signature is an amazing treasure to add to your collection!! Keep up the great content!!
@@ken-pr2df Thanks Ken - I love how this one turned out!
Glorious auto Iconic!!! Mickey matters to me too!!! Excellent addition, I love it
@@mookiechillson haha thanks Mookie, its good to know I have a partner in the “Mickey Matters” movement! 😂
Iconic Al, congrats on that new acquisition. It’s a beautiful piece. Love, Dad
@@JeffMazur-hf9fr Thanks Dad, I love how this one turned out!
An awesome example of Mickey Cochrane. He was definitely one of the elite backstops of all time. Just curious as to what the other 7 that you need are? Great job Al!
@@mikethesportshistorycollec1947 Thanks Mike! My remaining 7 are: Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Grover Alexander, Walter Johnson, Kid Nichols, Roy Campanella, and Al Simmons
Love the 1933 card. I always do some quick research when I watch videos like this when it features players I'm not overly family with. Very impressive stats. Most times he struck out in a season was 26! Thats insane!
Nice! I’m glad I inspired some prewar research. Thanks for watching!
Great job on sticking to a budget and finding a stunner. That's just perfect for you. Actually that's so nice, it's perfect for anybody but good job anyway. Can't wait to see what's next brother!
Thanks so much Eddy! I love how this one turned out!
Grats! Who are the 7 left ?
Thanks Bill! My remaining 7 are: Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Grover Alexander, Walter Johnson, Kid Nichols, Roy Campanella, and Al Simmons
@ ooof! Well. Simmons could be the lowest hanging fruit there. Then probably Nichols/campy. The rest hurt the pocket a lot.
@@billthehofcollector4525 Yep, it’s a lifelong pursuit.. part of the fun!
@@iconic_baseball You will for sure get these, a post-accident Campy is pretty easy to acquire.
@@baseballHOFautographs def going for a pre-accident Campy. The post-accident ones just look bad and frankly, kinda bum me out.
Congrats brother… beautiful signature
Thanks so much Lou - a big one off the list for me 🙌
Just glorious Al absolutely love the pairing congrats dude thank you for sharing this with us 👊🤙🤙
Thanks DD! Super happy about this one!
This was better than a trip to Disney World to see MICKEY mouse! I would’ve (Coch)RAN(e) to the mailbox!
You know someone recently asked me if I like Michael Jackson’s late career music, and my reply was: Not really, I prefer ‘Black Mike.’
Oooh nice, Al! Congrats! 🤛🏻
Thanks Brent!
Great vid. Im also not a huge modern guy but love the throwbacks and heritage stuff. The deckle edge is sick!
@@W238thStreet Thanks so much for watching - i love the throwback stuff too!
HEI! I LOVE it when an Iconic Al video SHOs up in my alerts 😍 I LOVED this episode, how you re-examined where the current guys are and a peek behind the curtain of the ever-shifting list!
@@LegendsNeverDieCollection OH-Thank you Jake! Its been a long winter, and can’t wait to get a good TAN-I miss the ballpark!
The cards come back altered and you're going to go have them graded again? That's not right.
@@15DurangoRT At the end of the day, a grade is an opinion. Nothing wrong with getting a second opinion. SGC ended up slabbing the Jackie & Joe D as “authentic altered”
Wow 😮😳 That is super cool 😎👍
Awesome collection. Reminds me I need to add a Pujols to my collection 😅
@@thinkblue7718 thankyousir!
Hi Al, I loved seeing you reshape your list bringing it up to date! It keeps it relevant to you and all your viewers. Your reasoning makes sense! Great video! Love, Mom
@@susanmazur2761 Thanks for watching Mom!
Great video. Love, Dad
@@JeffMazur-hf9fr Thanks Dad!
Great video, Al! I love the Ohtani Topps Archives rookie card. I think I only have the pitching variation, however.
@@ACD1994 I love the ‘59 design, and for some reason I just love seeing Ohtani on ‘vintage’ cards! Thanks for watching Andrew!
Ohtani autographs are going to come down in price someday, right? Cool foul ball from Ohtani. Good luck on getting Ohtani to sign the ball. His autograph is high on my list too. Arenado seems to be languishing. I hope he can find some new life with a new team. If he’s not traded before the season, he definitely will be traded at the deadline. I think Machado will pass up Arenado on your list. Bold prediction.
Hey Ken! I DO think there will be chances to buy Ohtani cheaper in the future.. injuries happen… I also hope Arenado gets back on track, but also agree that Machado will end up with the better offensive totals. Arenado’s 10 Gold Gloves (6 Platinum Gloves) will always set him apart. Here’s to the 2025 season!
cough cough... Jim Thome went up to, right? For what it's worth, I'll never look fondly at any Yankee teams.
yea… Thome went up from #114 to #109! 😅
Incredible pieces here, Al! I can’t wait until you can get that auto on Ohtani’s foul ball!
@@HighPopProfessor Thanks Bri! I have tickets to 2 Dodgers day games this summer, i’ll do my best! 🤞
Great video Al! I am so excited to see what the future brings for Ohtani. I agree that in the end he will be a generational talent.
@@EverydayCardCollector-Jason Agree 💯- Thanks for watching Jason!
I have literally had the thought (multiple times) when and how will Iconic adjust his list as these modern players advance in their careers. Particularly Shohei! And here it is!!! I love the new rankings, I love the Hank Greenberg/Josh Beckett comp (and the 50/50 archive back is amazing, if dorky! Hahaha). You’ve done it again, Iconic!! Iconic is not Ironic!!
haha I need to start a comedy-based sister channel called “Ironic Baseball” 😂 Thanks for the support Mook! 2025 season.. Lets GO!!
I love that you not only update your personal list but also do update videos that we can enjoy. Hope all is well well with you
Thanks for tuning in Drew - I needed all 4 card stands for this one! 😉
@iconic_baseball they looked great. Glad you are enjoying them
I love your Othani pieces, very cool. Love your updated list also. Great video, can’t wait for the next updated list.
Thanks for watching Matt!
Just discovering your channel, but congratulations on your pickup. Beautiful autograph
@@baseballHOFautographs HEYNOW! Thanks for tuning in Frank - been watching your stuff for awhile - glad you found me sir!
Great story. Congrats on pullin off the perfect baseball crime.
@@W238thStreet Haha thanks for watching!
I loved your ballpark memory. You’re absolutely correct. Mom and I never knew you boys skipped school to go to a Pirates / Rocky’s game. I’m glad you both enjoyed the game and were able to get autographs of sone of the players. My favorite ballpark memories involve those games we were able to attend together. Love, Dad
To be clear, Brian did NOT skip school.. he just helped to cover for me 😅 and thanks Dad - I am greatful for every game we get to attend together!
That’s a really fun story Al! Sorry Mom & Dad!
Thanks for watching Jake - it was a fun one to share!
Loved this story, Al! It’s obvious that your good attendance and grades over the prior 12+ years, acceptance to college, etc was all just a ploy to lay the groundwork and have an alibi in place to execute “Iconic Al’s Day Off” 😃 Genius!
Haha I played the long game… Thanks for watching Shane!
Whatta cool idea for a video. That’s awesome you went to up to 20-30 games a summer. We lived a little over an hour north of Chavez Ravine, so we might go to half a dozen games a season…And Larry Walker seems like such a good dude. And one of the rare Canadian bball HOFers! Come to think of it, are there any others besides him and Fergie? Seems like there has to be more…Lastly, seems like truancy well spent #hooky
@@michaelgolden4938 Haha thanks for watching Michael - I definitely channeled my inner-Ferris Bueler that day! And I believe Larry and Fergie are the only Canadian-born HOFers
@@iconic_baseball Nice Ferris Bueller reference! Whether it's Pittsburgh or Chicago it's all the same in spirit ;)
Great picks all, but for Pete’s sake, put JLee and Cooley D in the Hall!
@@michaelgolden4938 Amen! Thanks for watching Michael!
A regular Ferris Beuhler’s Day Off! Sans the Ferrari and the principal. I have ditched work a few times to go to a Rockies day game. Great story Al.
Thanks for watching Ken - I thought you’d appreciate my Rockies story. And yes.. Ferris Buehler was a MAJOR influence at the time 😉
Fun story, Al. Reminds me of Ferris Bueller's Day Off 🙂
touché Andrew! I’d be lying if i said Ferris wasn’t a major inspiration for me at the time 😉
Yooooouuuuu Hooooooligan! Wow. You think you know a person.
🤘 😛 🤘
To mom and dad… yeah… sorry about that 😅😂😂😂
😅
Hahahaha
The statute of limitations has run out 😂😂😂😂😂
Al!! This was such an awesome story! 😂 Brian, that co-conspirator!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 This made my day dude, thank you so much for sharing. This is exactly the kind of stuff that was the reason for me asking for this VR. Priceless. Thanks again my friend 🤛🏻
