None of these guys are experts, not by a long shot! When they said that the car had the mileage turned off, and the camera pictured the screen saying "MIL OFF", it doesn't mean that the mileage was turned off.... it meant that the Malfunction Indicator Lamp was off (some people refer to the MIL as the "Check Engine Light"). The parameter EOBD FAULTS - 0 means that the Enhanced On Board Diagnostic Faults were at zero. In order for the MIL to be on, the EOBD must have a number of 1 or greater.

In UK this problem continues to get worse with the rise of "lease rental" schemes! Drivers would be penalised for high miles use, so they hire a mobile "mileage correction" operative who turns milage back for nominal charge of £70, before they return car to dealer at end of 12 months! This does not show on mileage checks!!! Ie. Not had 1st service. Not had 1st mot. Why does uk government turn blind eye to this massive scam???

Good programme, but the average buyer dosent have the luxery of having a crew of experts waiting around the corner with their gadgets to prove the car's milage. and couldnt get the chain motive bit. Does a log book have this chain motive as well as the RF101 watermark? i checked my log book and it does have the RF101 watermark but no chain motive. Is a paid Motercheck on a vehicle enough to assure a potential buyer on the information it returns? Just wondering, any decent potential seller would not mind anyone carrying out checks on site, why did this show feel the need to go covert? And I am suprised the Airport car sales let the driver go unaccompanied for a test drive.

This was pretty good. Maybe they could have mentioned the insurance implications of importing a car - a friend of mine is getting reamed on his insurance because his car is a Japanese import. Does the same happen with UK imports?
