Which lines in the song do you think aren’t in context with the story? It seems to match up to me, but curious to hear your thoughts. I love this play and this movie 😊

@@taniwalters4999 Because this seems to be at the point where Helena, Hermia, Demetrius and Lysander all fall asleep after an exhausting and eventful night and are all some level of confused by everything that's happened. Just before this, both Lysander and Demetrius were telling Helena that they were in love with her but she thought that they were both mocking her and that Hermia was the one who got both of them to do it. This just doesn't really seem to be a song to sing (and neither did that awful song 'Pocketful of Dreams' that she was supposed to sing earlier) after a night of being threatened and rejected by the man you love, thinking that your best friends boyfriend is making fun of you by pretending that he loves you, getting lost in the woods unable to shake off the man you think is making fun of you, thinking that the man you're in love with on top of telling you that he's sick when he looks at you is now also mocking you by pretending to be in love with you, thinking that your best friend was the one who masterminded them all making fun of you, having a huge fight with your best friend and getting lost again before finally going to sleep out of exhaustion. Either way though, the line they had Puck say just before the song isn't in the play and he had no reason to hold the flower over her eyes since he doesn't need to use the love juice on her.

Have you seen that 2000s BBC series 'Shakespeare Retold', their fourth episode was a modern retelling of 'Midsummer Night's Dream', have you seen it? I know that they made Berke Lysander so that we could have the improvised scene near the end and could then have Striker humiliated on stage, and that he's a bit like Bottom in this story, but I think that even though he thinks that he's Lysander in this story (I think he sees the story as an 'everyone is trying to keep him away from the girl he's meant to be with' story) I think he's actually Demetrius (as in he's in love with someone who's made it as clear as possible that she doesn't return his feelings and is oblivious to the fact that someone else is in love with him and is dedicating her whole life to helping him), so it still could have worked if he'd been Demetrius in the play because then the lines 'my love for Hermia melted as the snow' would apply to him. What do you think?

As far as i know Kirsten accepted to make the movie only because she had the chance to sing, yeah it was the first time she sang on a movie, but she also sings on Spiderman 3 for example (while working on the bar), pretty sure she sings in some other movie aswell but i would have to check it out. I do love this movie and song aswell, Kirsten was astonishing here.
