Mindful Model Maker
United Kingdom
Приєднався 30 січ 2023
This channel is about how much stimulation of the mind can be gained through Model making and viewing other people's models as well. you don't have to be the best model maker, its just about indulging and adsorbing yourself into an interest, it take your mind off every day things and kind of gives you a freedom, even if you have some form of disability. It gives you the escape we all need. If you have never done any kind of Model making before, have a look at the vast amount of videos that are available on youtube. buy a beginners Airfix kit with paint and glue, and give it ago. This is how I make models and this is how I relax and enjoy my spare time. And I wish to show others how to do the same.

I started collecting almost two years ago, and decided to go for 3 rail. I like the diecast engines, and the noise you get from the tracl. Modern issues may be more detailed but I'm happy with these. I love everything 1950s.
Yes that is the very reason I got into it
I think converting a Deltic to 3 rail would be challenging as the chassis are completely different mouldings.
You would need to experiment with the position of the pick ups
@@mindfulmodelmaker5602 You would need to drill through the chassis.
Congratulations! It DID move by itself. Maybe there’s some water getting in, or a patch of card that is soaking up a bit of water? I’d try a bit more varnish.
I will try and seal it better thanks
Its really good, it will need water proofing from the inside as well and a tiny bit of weight in the front should level it up.
Thanks for that lovely video. I have been collecting Dublo 3 rail for a few years now and I love this stuff. The prices are so reasonable and you can get some great bargains but the best thing is that all the items are bullet proof and will last forever if properly looked after and maintained. There's such a charm to old Dublo stuff and the simplicity and ease of maintenance makes operating them a real joy. Thanks!
I just enjoy the sound they make as they clatter around
Will this work for o gauge as well?
Hi yes I have done it on 16mm
@mindfulmodelmaker5602 thank you so much
I have enjoyed your video and it really helps me with my recovery from my brain tumour and stroke as I try to get back to my modelling I mention my illness so you know who is watching and why thank you Just a suggestion for some extra detail A arfix raf refuelling set for a petrol delivery Also fire sand buckets was necessary All oil drums weeped so apool of oil at the base Hope you didn't mind thank you 😊
Thanks nice of you to comment
Really interested in this conversion. Just having a go at it myself so following with u h interest.
It is no as hard as you think
Very informative. So much misinformation around and you simlified it. Where can I find the conversion kit if they are available. Haven't been able to find any after ages of searching. Hopefully this site is still monitered. Thanks for your effort. 8:01
Hi I get most of my bits from eBay
Eastbourne miniature steam railway Mindful Model Maker LOVE LOUIS SHIRLEY
Thanks 👍
I'm loving these videos thankyou very much for taking the time to produce them. Looking forward to seeing whatever dioramas you come up with using these models.
I am getting all the Micromodels I can to build a micro railway
Hello from the US. I've subscribed and liked because I'm in the "gathering the resources" stage of re-entering paper model building. In 1982 I built a Dover Publishing Company Spirit of St. Louis and hauling truck combination kit. I remember the cardstock as being of very good card thickness in that no additional backing was needed. As I was just watching this video and seeing your use of various dowels, brush handles, and other sized items, I'd pause for a bit and scramble around my place for different sized diameters. I felt like I was on a Scavenger Hunt again from the 1950's! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks I am glad you are enjoying your model making
Hello, your Merchant Navy os progressing nicely! I’ve managed to find a few photos of cards on the net: LMS Princess Royal LNER Sandringhm LNER A1 LNWR 2-4-2 SR Lord Collingworth (Lord Nelson class?) SR Merchant Navy Quality varies, but some issues can be corrected directly on the computer (contrast, colour saturation, brightness etc.) It’s a pity no one has uploaded them as printable pdf files. I can’t imagine there would be copyright issues after all these years… if I can get access to a decent colour printer (ours at home is on the blink😢) I’m going to print one out and see. What do you use in terms of papier/card ? 120g/sq metre ?
I print on to standard photocopy paper then seal with varnish to seal the ink then stick that to a quiet fine card don't go to thick as it will be hard to roll or bend.go thin and varnish to add strength
Great collection of Hornby Doublo products. I am into model trains. I love these vintage Hornby Doublo products. I have tracks and buildings with me. Looking out for 3 rail steam locomotives. I am from Chennai India..
The vintage Hornby never seems to go out of fashion
Buying one of these too. Walsall Model Industries do fantastic hook and couplings, they also do turned brass and steel buffers. Can you link or let me know where you got the cab from please?
The cab interior cam from a Guy on eBay that makes parts for the o gauge lima class 33 and he made a larger one for Gauge 1.

It’s great we can copy these today and preserve the originals. I quite fancy having a go at one of these myself. Good projet for the summer holidays…
Go for it!
6 likes! Very realistic looking building!

Thanks 👍
Informative, thankyou
This is a nice model to build
Amazing🚂👍🌟🤗Regards Elizabeth
Many thanks!
Spot on
Thanks
It looks great with the varnish on it! I have to dig mine out I can't remember if I have trains or lorries, they're in a box somewhere. Thanks for the video and the update. All the best from Canada.
Thanks
What scale are these made to ? Is the MN in Southern Livery ? It might even have been made pre 1948! Just did a bit of a search. Started by a Geoffrey Heighway in 1941! People used to take them into the bomb shelters during air raids for something to do that didn’t take up too much space.
I am not sure of the scale the nearest I think is N gauge, thanks for the information.
I just realized that I do have some of these card model kits somewhere I'll have to dig them out. They're for lorries though I think. I'm looking forward to seeing how the buildings turn out. Cheers!
Hi I think I am getting some lorries soon so I will see how they turn out thanks
Great video! Lovely to see some of this old stuff getting made. Didn't they do lorries too?
Hi yes I may be getting some lorries soon.
Hello, these models look good, I'm very interested in the station buildings as I'm thinking of altering my station area, are they still produced? Do you have a link to buy these?
They haven't been produced for many years. Ebay is your best bet. I've got the South African GMAM Garratt and New Zealand Ja class loco's, not started as yet, good luck !
@@johnfellows2867 Thanks mate
Hi yes I got the the Micromodels from eBay there are so many unmade around, I reckon they are purchased and in most cases never made
The garage is looking good
Thanks
Love the roof, the rust looks so nice and realistic!
Thank you very much!
Nice video, likes from me...
Thanks
32 cylinders.
Yes sounds very nice
when built bullt them they were declaired mixed traffic to ger around the war time restrictions on passanger only locomotives but i think they never pulled freight in southern or br usage
Hi thanks for that information ☺️
Great video, I could easily get into model boat building if I'm not careful. Thank you for sharing
It is a very calming hobby
Thank you for a very informative and interesting video and well presented. I am 68 years old now and I left school in 1970 and got a job with British Rail as a Junior railman or lad Porter and worked in various departments thru British Rail, then into the private sector. I like your Hornby collection and I find thee rail very interesting. The very first 00 track my dad got me when I was a young lad was the two rail with the gray plastic base. It was all second hand but i was very happy, I felt like i had won the pools. Happy days indeed. Thank you once again for a great channel and I shall be watching again. Keep safe sir. 👍🚂
I am glad you liked the channel.thank you
Good idea! I've been starting to plan a diorama or desktop layout for industrial/Feldbahn type trains, inspired by LocoRemote's tiny trackplans and Carl Arendt's site. I've got a small set of the LocoRemote track but it takes a long time to print a few sections, so this might be a better option.
Hi yes keep watching and I will see how far I can take this.
@@mindfulmodelmaker5602 Will do, curious to see how it turns out!
I like this. I assume I can do this to convert a Hornby Class 60 to work on the Marklin 3 Rail AC system?
Hi that I am not sure about, but most things are possible.
Looking great. The only thing I would be a little afraid of is the paper getting wavy from moisture in the air and/or sweat depending on how much it will get handled. But look wise it's super nice, great idea!
I will keep an eye. On what happens.thanks
And looks like a nice smooth runner, too!
It is smooth considering how tight the curves are.
Love their little track! I haven't tried that section plate but it might be just the thing for a little desktop layout I'm planning.
It is very nice stuff
Nice one, dog 😂
Thanks 😅
Absolute classics🎉
Thanks
Excellent video dear friend😊
Thanks👍
Hello, nice model. I think the TV series is called 'Detectorists'. The static grass is something I have never tried but the results are amazing. Thanks and good luck.
Hi glad you liked it .
You reminded me of the TV show “Magpie”, which used the song you mentioned. ua-cam.com/video/wp1TG9KaEAg/v-deo.htmlsi=DWgvqbtW35z5urqs
The chip is an old Hornby Zero One DCC loco decoder module. It was the world's first DCC system and was produced from 1979 until 1988. A lot of modellers, including myself, still run the old Zero One DCC system on layouts.
Hi thanks for this information .
The Triang EMU came out in 1957 and had Mark.2 couplings until 1958. From 1959 onwards, it had Mark.3 tension lock couplings.
Detectorists is available on BBC iPlayer, there are three series.
You've ruined it! Paul.😪
You may think that, have you ever see these loco when They were working?
Ok thanks
Love the longer videos since they allow you to show us how you do it and explain why you did it that way without having to keep an eye on the runtime. Tho you probably get more work done with the shorter videos since you won't have to make sure we can see everything etc. since we will just see the "end"product So overall a good balance between some longer videos and more shorter videos is probably the way to go.
Yes I think you are right, a mix is a good way to go thanks for your comment. Robin.
